When we lived in Chicago, I had a very bad experience with a pediatrician who did not return calls and did not listen to my concerns, as a result that doctor caused my daughter to have Conductive Hearing Loss. I was not going to let that happen again when we moved to western suburbs. After we moved, I found Dr. Mark Weiss. That was over seven years ago. Doctor Weiss is a good caring doctor. One of my children was diagnosed with ADD/ADHD, which Doctor Weiss diagnosed several years back. I read the previous review from a parent who had a child with a similar diagnosis and those remarks are not similar to my experience with him. I too went down the road with medications to help my child. I have noticed that most physicians want to "throw" medication for every ailment rather quickly. Everything has a diagnosis and medication is a quick response. At the time of diagnosis, my child was in Kindergarten. We tried medicines and Doctor Weiss cautiously made recommendations. After a period, he did refer me to a psychiatrist to manage my childs meds. That is true of any good Pediatrician or Internist. You want to make sure you are dealing with a doctor whose specialty is ruling out any other underlying factors that could be causing the diagnosis. After several attempts of getting doses right for my child, we opted out. We never saw definitive results that warranted staying on the meds. I was told by other doctors to stay on meds even when I presented facts the meds were causing other problems. I made an appointment with Dr. Weiss, consulted with him and was prepared to do battle. He instead listened and respected my familys decision to not medicate. I liked that. Sometimes parents know best. Never once did Doctor Weiss make me feel "talked down" to. On the contrary, he is bright and seems up to date with latest meds and procedures--quick command of facts. You can ask questions and he takes the time to answer them. Some doctors wont do that. The times I have called with questions or concerns, his staff has been friendly and helpful. Nurses were good with my kids. In addition, Doctor Weiss RETURNS phone calls within a reasonable time frame. I once had a doctor call more than 24 hours later after my child had a bad reaction to meds. That was unacceptable. I would recommend Dr. Weiss to my family and friends. The only complaint I sometimes have is that you may have to wait in office a little longer than anticipated due to patient back up. Even then, he is apologetic and you get what you need.

This guy really is the worst medical person (Id call him a physician but that seems generous) with whom Ive ever had the displeasure of interacting. He claims an interest in ADHD and yet refused to script my son his medication despite the fact we visited one of the premier child neurologists in Illinois for his diagnosis and treatment plan. Instead he lectured rudely and condescendingly on the dangers of controlled substances. Creatures like this are the reason why ADD stigma exists in the first place and why sufferers like my son must contend with the absurd belief that they should just "get over it." What an utter disgrace to the otherwise excellent DME Partners. For shame.

Dr. Weiss is fantastic! He has been my sons pediatrician since the day he was born. Dr. Weiss is so patient and kind; especially when the little ones are wiggly or upset. He has always returned my after-hours calls promptly and he always takes the time to explain what is happening and what will happen next. You wont find a more caring and competent pediatrician than Dr. Weiss.
