Brittany is absolutely correct. Me and my wife use to go to Norton facilities any time we needed to go to the ER and always had to wait forever, were treated rudely as if all the employees in the ER hate their job, and on top of everything we never really go the help we needed. Nine times out of ten they would make you wait forever just to tell you something along the lines of "We think you MAY have this or that and we suggest that you follow up with your family doctor." On top of these problems they also had a constant issue of bad medication communication. By this I mean we would specifically tell them from the time we come in, "Please dont give us ANY opiates!" Which was very important because we had both been addicts in the past and both are still undergoing Methadone and Suboxone therapy, therefore giving us opiates could either be physically dangerous because of drug interactions or could throw us into relapse. But no matter how adiment we were about the fact that we didnt want any opiates, they continually would ask us if we wanted any. Either a new nurse would come in and had not been filled in by the previous nurse or the same nurse would ask multiple times because they had simply forgot. This just scares me because what if for example my wife was their and barely conscious for some reason and I was not there with her yet, how do I know that they would be compitent enough to either read the card in her pocket with a list of the medications to not give her or to do their own research on what not to give somebody who is undergoing suboxone therapy? I feel that if she was simply able to mumble "My head hurts," that they may push a vile of Diladid into her IV which could throw her into immediate withdrawl. NOW.. The Jewish ER on Dutchmans, just as Brittany said, is wonderful! Even when the waiting room is full the wait times are never unbearable. The workers seem to care and enjoy their jobs and I always feel that I have received the help I deserved, both in person and over the phone. Also clean and roomy. If it is a little bit further of a drive for you than a Nortons, I would suggest making the drive as long as your situation can take the time of travel.

I presented in the emergency room at Jewish Hospital East on July 3, 2017 at approximately 6:30 PM. I have had an ongoing fungal sinus infection and my symptoms were extreme pain, swelling, and redness in my facial area. My doctors office was closed that day and I felt that I needed medical attention. I am already scheduled to have surgery at Jewish Hospital East on Thursday, July 6, 2017, so I felt I was making the right decision going to that hospital. Unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. I saw a nurse practitioner rather than a physician, and the way she treated me was inhumane. She glanced at my face and the first thing she said was that they were not going to give me narcotics. Not only was I in severe pain, but with the redness and swelling, I was very concerned that something was wrong. She clearly did not care and went on to discharge me after making me feel like a drug seeker. I was absolutely humiliated, but I went ahead and signed into a different hospital because I was not treated whatsoever. It turns out, my infection has spread into the bones in my face and possibly into my brain, and I will need emergency surgery and IV antibiotics. Had I just accepted this nurse practitioners word and went back home, I probably would have died. This person needs to be reprimanded for her at horrible bedside manner. I honestly do not think she should even be in that position, treating people as callously as she did me. I presented with very obvious physical symptoms, but she dismissed me as a drug seeker and didnt even bother to find out what was going on. I will not be paying for this hospital visit and I better not receive any bills. Furthermore, I will not be having my surgery at Jewish Hospital East. Maybe there are some good physicians there, but I clearly did not see one, and she has made the entire hospital look like a joke. Her name is Kimberly MulRooney. To add insult to injury, on my discharge paperwork she simply wrote "sinus pain". Again, no mention of the severe redness and swelling that had taken over the left side of my face. That nurse practitioner is going to be the cause of somebodys death.

I called Norton before calling Jewish. I will never call them again. Norton was rude, seemed annoyed that I was calling, and told me "they are busy 24 hours a day" when I asked if there was a time of day best to come in. When I called Jewish, not only did they answer the phone right away, they answered all of my questions, and took 10 minutes of their time to help me figure out all of the details of my situation. My insurance only covers me with Cincinnati doctors and I had strep throat. The only thing I was covered to do was go to the ER. After speaking with Jewish, I found out that my Cincinnati doctor could order a strep test at the LAB and would fax the results to my doctor so he could order me antibiotics. I would never have known that if the Jewish hospital staff hadnt taken the time to listen and help me figure out what my options were. When I went to Jewish, not only was the hospital BEAUTIFUL, and clean, there was only 1 person in front of me at registration, and 2 people in front of me at the lab. I was in and out in no time, the nurses were friendly and nice, and it was just an overall positive atmosphere. I overheard one of the nurses making small talk with a patient and wishing her luck in her surgery. They were very welcoming and kind. I highly recommend this facility.

Admissions were 100% got me in an examination room in 15 minutes. I was 1 of 2 people in the waiting room. However, I sat there 1hour 15mins before the MD came in to examine me. I had a terrible ear ache and the pain was excruciating! Dr. Karina Anne Busch was my MD. She looked into both my ears and said, "Your eardrum is intact but your ear canal is inflamed! They used to make ear drops that would numb the ear for the pain but the FDA pulled it off the shelves!" Then she shrugged her shoulders and said,"so, there is nothing I can do for you! Take ibuprofen!" And left! What? Nothing you can do? You mean the FDA pulled the one and only medicine for ear infections!? I find that hard to believe! My sister works for a pharmacy. I text her and she types: "Stupid Doctor! If the canal is inflammed she should have written a script for cipro/hydrocortisone drops. They would have helped." This doctor was clearly in a hurry and obviously did not care about me as a patient or human being in pain! Avoid these idiots if you can! Its a complete waste of time here!

I received a $1,218.77 bill for a visit that occurred nearly 6 months ago, and it was sent to the wrong address. When I called to ask about the bill, a snarky representative dismissed any possibility of there having been an error in the timing or amount of the bill and said that the longest she could put it on hold is 7 days. The bill arrived on Christmas Eve, and despite their having waited nearly 6 months to send this large bill, they are demanding payment by January 2. Merry Christmas. Other fun facts: the bill is not itemized, so I had to do some research to determine that it was for an electrocardiogram. The charge is about twice the national average for this procedure (the highest in our area) and three times the cost of another local hospital.
