On April 7, 2016 my mother, Linda, had a stroke which required two brain surgeries within 8 hours of the other. She received top notch care in ICU, Neuro and Rehab. Our experience has been exemplary from the surgeons, doctors, nurses, aids, housekeeping, etc. We always were informed of what was happening and if the person/people helping us didnt have an answer, they followed through to get the answers we needed. My mother still has a long way to go in her journey but I am confident that Owensboros professionals will work hard to get her home very soon. Thank you all for your hard work! A very special thank you to the following individuals who I personally dealt with at the beginning of my mothers illness (please forgive any misspellings): Dr. Eggers, Dr. Weaver, Dr. Gamble, Anessa (RN), Karen (RN), Amy (nursing assistant), Genieva (nursing assistant), Tammy (nursing assistant), Doug (Chaplain), Matthew (Chaplain) and the ER staff. The level of care and compassion was amazing and we all appreciate everything you did for my mother and family! Kristi Wells (Mitchell) and the Mitchell Family

This is the worst hospital Ive ever encountered . Im at a ten pain, blowed up knee, put in quick care, nobody else here and ive been here 15 min already. Nice facility, state of the art, and ran like a circus. I would go somewhere else but its sunday. Dont come here unless your dying and then you need to think about that. The triage dude was rude and acted like he didnt care as well. Very disappointed... finally seen a dr, and knee is huge. Guess what, no xrays, no thing. A toridol shot that i requested so i can make it to drive somewhere else. I know there are some nice people here, and i know they encounter alot of BS. But to categorize everybody in the same boat is unfair. I really hoped that this new hospital would change the care in the area for the people it SERVES but it hasnt. I know my knee is torn or something, and if another place tells me this with an xray then ill be back here to hand my chart to administration and ask why. Please practice and run this state of the art facility like a champ, not a factory.. ridiculous.

Had to take my wife to their emergency room several times this year. Nurse at the front desk didnt have the number for their own 24 hour hotline, the doctor I spoke with in the waiting room spoke to me with such condescension and contempt, like our conversation was a waste of her valuable time. Not to mention that out of the several ER visits we made, my wifes insurance information wasnt forwarded to the company responsible for the ER services one single time, so we kept getting billing notices saying we were severely behind on payments. The nurses in the ER (with a few exceptions) are unprofessional or pretty unskilled (asking me to grab medical supplies out of cabinets for them while Im trying to console my wife - and they cant find a vein to save their lives). Whoever runs this place either needs to be replaced or needs to retrain or replace half the staff in their ER department. I hope no ones lives depend on some of the people in this place or you might be better off taking a Tylenol and hoping for the best.

I had to take away a star for the nurses and that didnt take the time to read my chart and understand the reason I was in the hospital. I also had to take away a star away for the many many MANY times I had to explain that I did not take birth control, I took progesterone only... and that I did not have diabetes.. It took over 4 days to keep telling the same doctors and nurses. For what its worth I also asked to transfer to Louisville where I could be treated and seen by my neurologist and was told I could not be transferred "unless I was dying."

I am so disappointed to find out that this hospital will allow doctors that will not treat a patient if they are a VA patient. My dad was admitted over the weekend with pneumonia in both lungs. He was needing to see a GI doctor and was told that he wouldnt see him because he was being seen at the VA. How do you treat your Veterans that way. So since there is nothing more that can be done at this hospital they are sending him home and to contact the VA. Now if something happens and he gets worse he will have to travel to the VA in Louisville.

It is hard seeing someone you love suffer but remember God never puts more on us than we can handle. When my own daughter lay in ICU on life-support I thought, "God I cannot handle seeing her like this" I did handle it and I thank God for nurses like Sue, 3rd shift ICU. You dont have to be a nurse to help someone who is suffering. Simple human kindness acts as a healing balm. We need more nurses who have this special healing touch that you cannot get through education or training. It is a gift from God our father

Had a knee replacement. Went through joint camp. Had a comfortable experience. Everyone was caring and helpful. Everything was explained in detail in a manner I could comprehend. Going through outpatient rehab at the hospital now. Great experience. I have yet to deal with one rude or grumpy person. My knee is healing nicely.

I went in for out patient gallbladder surgery ended up in coma, my out patient surgery lasted 75 days. I dont care how sick you are if you ever hear the name Anthony Decker get up and run like hell.... Thank God Dr. Sherm, Dr. Gary Whal and Dr. Randy Cox intervened. Or I would be dead.......
