I have had mixed experiences with this veterinary clinic. The last one however, really rubbed me the wrong way and has made me unable to recommend this clinic to anyone and also, when we return to the area (we are a military family), I will not go back to this clinic. First, I will start will the positives, the doctor (Dr. Brandon) has been good with his diagnosis of my pets. I know this for sure because I have taken them to a specialty clinic because one of them had a severe leg injury occur before we adopted her from an animal shelter. Another positive is that he and his staff seemed friendly and were good at explaining options on care. On the negative side, Dr. Brandon insisted that one of my dogs needed a dental cleaning, which I agreed that she did so we set up an appointment for this to be done. We picked her up and everything seemed fine. A day later, I noticed her lips were peeling very badly and that she seemed to be in tremendous pain. Whoever did (vet techs do this procedure) her dental cleaning was careless and let the laser get too close to her lips. We took her back in and got pain medicine and I decided that neither dog was going to get another dental cleaning at that clinic. We recently had a change of duty station and we received two postcards saying one of our dogs was due for her shots. I called the clinic to say that we had recently moved and to see what DAY in April she was due (so that I could get her into a vet where we live). The receptionist told me April 13. I scheduled that dog for a vet visit here and took her shot records in and found that she was actually due on April 25th. The receptionist quoted me the month and year and not the day which I clearly specified. The final straw was just recently when I placed an order with Petcarerx for Trifexis. I shop around for the cheapest price which is always between 1800petmeds and Petcarerx. Previously I had ordered with 1800petmeds because their price was the cheapest at the time. I selected a certain amount and was authorized that amount and given an authorized refill. Never did I ask for a refill; I am not sure if that company or the doctor sought after the refill, but I was never told this. When my pills were running low, I placed an order with Petcarerx (this time they were cheaper). I got an email from the company saying that my vet was contacted several times and they had not received word back. I gave the vet clinic some time (figured they were busy) and weeks later I called Petcarerx to find out where my pills were and was told me that the vet never returned their communication (and this clinic never bothered to call me to communicate a problem). I called the vet and was told they were not authorizing the order because I had numerous pills given to me. I said that I did not have numerous pills on hand and the receptionist said the doctor wasn’t budging. I was REALLY embarrassed that they thought I was mishandling medicine and I told them that. The receptionist (Mariah) told me that she didn’t think I was taking the heartworm pills myself because there was nothing I could get out of them, but that possibly I might be giving them to another dog which does not have a prescription. LOVELY!!! I asked if there was some mistake in the records and she said absolutely not and I told her that I would get to the bottom of this and call them back. She told me that it really was a waste of an effort because he was not going to change his mind. After calling around, I finally found that 1800petmeds had a refill authorized for me (that they did not have to contact the doctor again for). The doctor was tracking me as having received medicine that I never received and did not know it was available. I called back to this clinic to explain the issue (and to clear my mind) and the receptionist laughed briefly at me. I never was able to talk to Dr. Brandon.

My German Shepherd was stricken with parvo at 10 months old. I had taken her to an emergency vet clinic one night in Alexandria when she vomited all over the house. The vet diagnosed her with the Canine Parvovirus after doing a SNAP test on her and gave her a fluid pouch under her skin and some anti-nausea meds and said she wasnt bad enough to have to stay over night & just to take her to the vet the following afternoon. The next morning we immediately made an appointment at B.V.C. but shortly thereafter she proceeded to defecate blood. Then I called Brandon Veterinary Clinic but said that we had to wait 1 hour where they said we probably wouldnt be able to be seen for at least another hour... which kind of made us mad because a bloody stool is not normal & she had been previously tested and diagnosed the night before. We waited about 45 minutes to leave our house then I waited about 45 min with her in the car until we could be taken to the back. When my fiance went in to get the paperwork done & have her signed in he told the receptionist about the vet testing her the night before and what procedures he had done on her and had the paperwork from that vets office in hand when the receptionist proceeded to say, "How do you even know she has Parvo?" in a snotty tone. The only reason we didnt have to wait any longer was because when they said we could take her to the back she had another bloody stool episode on the ground in front of their glass door then she was immediately rushed to the back. It took us about another 45 minutes to be seen by Dr. B. (or anyone for that matter because everyone else seemed to busy to help us & mostly our dying dog). He didnt seem too personable & basically told us that she was going to die. One thing I did find good was that when we called to check up on her we got to talk to Doctor Brandon personally instead of having messages relayed through his staff. Thankfully, after 6 days of overnight stays with antibiotics, pain & nausea meds, & IVs (& $1300 later) she recovered. I would recommend their office for emergency situations but the overall courtesy & aid of the staff was definitely sub-par compared to other vet offices Ive been to but Im glad my dog didnt die.

I cant thank Brandon Veterinary Clinic enough for their care of my animals over the last 10 years. He has treated 5 of our dogs in the two times we have been stationed in the Leesville/Ft Polk area. We have been beyond pleased with the care and attention we were given each and every time we visited the clinic. Their veterinary technicians are some of the best in the business. They handle the animals with confidence and kindness. It is clear to me that they have a great understanding of animal behavior. Dr Doug Brandon has been our primary vet. I am continually impressed with his knowledge of veterinary medicine and kindness to my animals. He has continually educated me about my animals care each time I visit. I would not hesitate to recommend him to my family and friends. He has been a veterinarian for decades and that shines through his knowledge and expertise in veterinarian medicine and care. While being stationed here, we have had 2 different occasions that we needed to use their emergency after hour services. Dr Doug met us at the clinic after hours and promptly and professionally cared for my animals. I give Dr Doug Brandon and all of his staff my highest recommendation. Thank you Dr Doug Brandon and Brandon Veterinarian Clinic for caring and treating my animals with kindness and love. You are greatly appreciated.
