According to MyEyeDr a standard exam includes drops to dilate your eyes. According to the MyEyeDr location in Pikesville a standard eye exam includes having your eyes dilated. At the Pikesville MyEyeDr they have decided for Livingsocial customers using a deal for a standard eye exam, the drops are not part of the standard eye exam, unless you pay extra. This exclusion was not part of the deal as it was offered on the Livingsocial site and purchased. The Pikesville MyEyeDr was very firm that they have decided the drops and dilation are not part of a standard eye exam for Livingsocial customers, even though they are part of a standard eye exam for everyone else. I was not willing to pay $40 extra for something that is supposed to part of the standard service package I already paid for. After my reluctance to pay extra for something I already paid for they were able to offer this standard service that is supposed to be part of a standard exam “at a special discount price” of $15 instead. That’s at least a 60% markup if the cost is only $15 to do drops and dilation. Last time I checked if a company offers a Livingsocial deal they are required to honor it as it was sold, not choose how they want to honor it afterwards. In addition I had to decline the retinal photograph service a total of four times, this is three times too many having to say no to the same question for the same service. Their insistence in over-offering the retinal photograph service makes me suspicious that they’re trying to push it to justify having the machine to do the service. The sections of frames are not labeled in any way shape or form, so you have to try and guess if many frames are men’s or women’s, the kid’s frames were more obvious due to the size difference. All of the frames here are very highly priced, and you do not actually get appropriately high end frames for the pricing. None of the frames here come with clip-on sunglasses, which is a standard feature of many more moderately priced frames. Out of the overpriced selection that was available I found a total of two frames (in the sections where frames were unlocked so you could actually try on them on) that I liked and were more reasonably priced. I picked the frame I liked most, and then the measuring process was handled very quickly and easily. I was given a choice of coatings I wanted, and offered a warranty, with no high-pressure sales tactics. When my glasses were ready I received at text, at 5pm on Saturday, right when the office closed that night. If the text had come earlier in the day I could have picked them up that day. When I was able to come in next to pick up my new glasses the gentleman who gave them to me sat with me and asked how they fit. They were a little tight and he immediately took them and made some adjustments. He gave them back and looked at them on me, then took them and made another quick adjustment. I tried them on again, he had me look at him while looked at them from a couple of different angles and he took them again for another quick adjustment. After those all the adjustments they fit very well. The only way I would come here again is if I had another Livingsocial or Groupon deal, otherwise it is way too expensive to get glasses here. Now, I must preface this story by saying that I hadnt gotten my eyes checked in about 4 years and I was due for a prescription update for my glasses and they were about to break in half as well. After finding which places took my insurance and which place sold the brand of frames I wanted, I finally cross-referenced the MyEyeDr. on Reisterstown rd. I will give them that they were very speedy in the process to make an appointment and were able to fit me in the day after I called to schedule. As I was taken into the back to get the regular checkup portion done, the tech that was operating the machines offered to dilate my eyes for an extra $20. I declined much to her chagrin and she promptly began to get an attitude saying "Well, if you havent had it done in 4 years, then you should." It was the tone in her voice that was very off-putting. After much bantering, I finally caved and agreed to the extra charge to have my eyes dilated. I will say that the doctor that I saw was very pleasant and professional. No complaints there. Then came the time to pick out new frames. Unfortunately they didnt have the frames I was looking for but no big deal. As I was looking around for frames similar to the ones that I wanted, another girl came over and asked what I was looking for. Every time I tried to explain to her what I wanted, she had a snippy comment for. Now Finally I picked out a pair that I liked and was in the process of getting them marked up for when they were to put my lenses into them. I was told that my insurance was going to cover everything in full. As the girl was typing, She looked over to me and stated "Okay, now thats going to be $380." I have to admit that I was more than surprised and asked why the cost was so much if anything at all. She pointed out several things on the bill that were not optional, but thrown in "extra features" that I didnt have a choice to decline. Bottom line is they added a S&@# ton of hidden fees without telling me. After draggin my feet to pay for the ridiculously expensive frames, I asked when they would be done. The answer I got was more than off-putting 7-10 days! Now here it is a 13 days later and I still have no idea when my glasses will be back?! Avoid this place if at all possible! Update: Its now 26 days later and I still dont have glasses. My prescription has had to start over twice at the lab that MyEyeDr uses. This place is absolutely terrible. Dont go here if you expect any kind of decent service.

Horrible customer service. When I ordered my glasses on December 14, I explained that they need to ship them to NJ where I live. They said please allow 2-3 weeks to get them. I called on Monday Jan 4, and they had been holding my glasses that came in on December 19. Why didnt they ship them? No one seemed to know. I then insisted they ship them to me overnight. It then took another 20 minutes for the woman to get my address correct. Next, a woman named Vanessa called me back to explain, the only option was a second day ship. Fine, I said. I then had to call back twice to get a tracking number, because at this point, I did not trust anything they say. I got the tracking number and they shipped UPS ground, which DOES NOT guarantee a second day delivery, in fact, the UPS Ground time frame is 5-7 business days. These people need to hire folks that graduated from at least the 8th grade.

Ive been going to the Elkton, MD location for years (they used to be vision associates) but today they were my heros. My glasses broke, the day before Thanksgiving! I cant wear contacts due to ulcers and my vision is horrendous so no glasses is not an option. I walked in expecting to pay a fortune and not get immediate help. My frames are no longer sold but they searched and found a pair that fit. They were able to pop out my lenses and put them in the new frames. I am on a tight budget so they were able to find a way to discount them by 50%. They did everything right there within minutes. They are all very friendly and helpful. A special thanks to Sherry Leroy for listening to be complain about money and work and always trying to help! Thanks guys!
