The new Germantown Centra Care Adventist HealthCare/Urgent Care. Nice on the outside questionable on the inside. I have to say the front desk and nurse were very nice as was the doctor, Dr. Richardson. I went to the urgent care on 8/25/2016 with a sever stuffy nose that was going on three weeks. The doctor diagnosed me with Acute non-recurrent sphenoidal sinusitis. I was given two prescriptions Amoxicillin and Prednisone. I was told the stuffy nose would be relieved within a day and I should be better in a week. Two hundred dollars for the treatment and I was on my way. I noticed that even after three days I was not feeling any better and looked on line about the condition I was diagnosed with. This was scary. I did not know this was as bad as I read. You can die if not treated urgently. The delay was no one’s fault but my own. I thought it was just a cold but it did not get better. I called Centra Care on the 5th day when I was not any better. The nurse that I spoke with said she was sorry and that Dr. Richardson was on duty and he would call me. The nurse called me back within one hour and said she spoke with Dr. Richardson and he said there was nothing else he could do for me and I better go to the emergency room. After what I read online I panicked he cannot do anything more for me does that mean I am going to die? I went straight to the emergency room fearing for my life, I thought I was having a heart attack on the way there. All I could think was the doctor said “there is nothing more he can do for me” How could this have gotten so bad? Lucky for me the story ends on a better note I do not have Acute non-recurrent sphenoidal sinusitis I have allergies. An over the counter medication suggested by the ER doctor had me feeling better in less than 24 hours. What a relief! Thank you Dr. Richardson for scaring the hell out of me and taking my hard earned two hundred dollars for nothing. The bottom line is why waste time and money to go to Centra Care urgent care when they will just take your money and tell you go to an emergency room for help. Another suggestion I would have for Centra Care is maybe focus on the patient more and less on throwing a lap top computer in front of you every ten minutes wanting you to complete a survey on the nurse the service and the doctor.

I went to the rockville location one week ago. I was in excruciating pain due to post partum Hemorrhoid x 1 week. I had the worst experience seeing Nurse Practitioner Negatu, Tiruayer. I explained to her i have tried different creams, oral meds, sitz bath, but nothing seems to work, even went to ER, but left due to long wait. First of all, she never did a physical exam to see if hemorrhoid need to be lanced/drained. She was resistant to the medication i asked her to write me ( Lidocaine/hydrocortisone cream) which is common medication for Hemorrhoid. At first she said " I dont even know if there is a medication like that." I told her to look on epokrate ( a common medical reference for providers). she said she doesnt see it there and she cant even find it in her system, which was a pure lie because i showed her Lidocaine/hydrocortisone cream with its dose. then she said she cant prescribe me that medication for no known reason. she was very stubborn and rude. I dont know why she was being very resistant ( may be because i told her where to look up for the medication). she sent some kind of cream to pharmacy, which i never picked up. I had to go to other urgent care to get what i needed for my situation. I cant believe she experience medicine without even examning a patient. poor patient care experience. I addressed my concern to the clinic managers right after i left the exam room.

I went here a couple months ago because I had a severe sinus infection, and the pain was unbearable in my face/ears/teeth/eyes/etc. The front desk people are nice, and the wait was not too long, but I was very disappointed with the doctor (Negatu, I believe). She was rude, and while I was weeping she told me to "stop crying" (not in a nice way). I told her the pain was some of the most extreme I had ever felt. She gave a prescription for Amoxicillin even though I said I knew that a Z Pack was most commonly prescribed for a sinus infection. She said "Z packs dont work anymore, these infections are immune to them" and sent me on my way. I asked about pain and she brushed me off saying "the antibiotic will start working in a couple days"... A COUPLE DAYS!! I ended up having to go to the emergency room later that night because I felt like my head and face were going to pop off. He said he couldnt believe the Urgent Care place had not given me any pain meds. My primary also ended up giving me a Z Pack, said she was wrong about it being ineffective, and that the reason I had a sore throat (2 weeks later) was because I still had a slight infection. I would not go here again. This doctor needs to learn some empathy and brush up on her medical knowledge, considering I knew more than her.

received excellent care. The entire staff could not have been nicer too. My mother fell and had injured her wrist and ankle. We were in and out within 90 minutes. They did a thorough exam of her injuries, took x rays, had the x rays read by a radiologist to double check for fractures. They treated her for the sprains and bruises, a prescription for pain medication if needed, and gave us the reports for us to share with our primary physician. Two days later, CieciVery Impressed. If you need urgent care in the Laurel area, I would recommend you choose this urgent care center. My 89 year old mother called us to check on her. Outstanding care. The team really was great, professional and pleasant. The team members that helped us were Roberta Schneller (PA), Ceci Alexis (x ray tech) Reanelle (Nurse) and Toni (front desk). Wonderful to know there is such a great resource for urgent care in the area.

The young woman at the front desk was polite and pleasant, but they werent able to help. (I was advised that my condition was chronic and so this particular clinic couldnt assist with that.) Despite noting that my self-diagnosis of "chronic" would preclude treatment of that condition, I was still charged a cop-pay. When I pointed out a non-chronic injury while meeting with the physician, he ignored it -- twice. I inferred from this that all issues not raised upon check-in may be overlooked at the attending physicians discretion. Its also poor form to undertake political discussions within earshot of patient-visitors. All around, nice people but a generally disagreeable experience.

Suddenly, my eyes puffed up - big time. I have no history of allergies, wasnt sure what it was, but something got me. I signed up ahead of time for the no-wait reservation and got right in. The people were very friendly, from the reception, to the doctor, and the nurses. They sent my prescription to the pharmacy across the street and I had eyedrops within 30 minutes. The drops worked. I do have a primary care doctor, but this was just so easy to get in. Plus my primary care doc was closed on Saturday (when I needed the care!). I think if it were during the week I would still call my primary care doc, but nights and weekends I wouldnt hesitate to go back to Centra Care.
