I woke up one weekend with swollen lips. And by swollen, I mean I looked like a duck billed platapus. I went to see my family doc and they said it looked like an alergic reaction. Went to an alergist and endured allergy testing & allergy pills for more than 18 months. I went back to my family doc for other issues and after never really having my own lips back, my family physician referred me to Dr. Messenger. He took one look at me and said Melkersson Rosenthal Syndrome. He had to do a biopsy to confirm but was sure that was what we were dealing with. Results came back and he was right. I was only his second case in his entire time of practice but he knew right off the bat! After going thru some injections and medications, I now have my old lips back (as long as I continue my meds) and no longer feel like a freak. Then on one of my return check-ups, he took one look at a small bump on my face and once again, knew it was skin cancer. Again, had to go thru the biopsy, and again, he was right. When I came in for the results, he confirmed and gave me two options, radiation treatment or surgical removal. We opted for the surgical removal. Did it right there in his office that same day. Needless to say I was a little freaked out. You see the bump was on my left cheak, right below my eye and next to my nose. I of course was thinking jeez, just get my old lips back and now im going to have a frankenstein scar in the middle of my face. I left the office with 7 external stitches and 2 internal ones that would disolve on their own and had to return in 10 days to have them removed. Now here I am a year and a half later with normal lips and cancer free! I CANT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT HIM!!!

I *really, really* like my doctor here (Dr. Wu), and I like the quality of the actual care I receive. So my rating doesnt relate to my doctor who, again, is wonderful. It relates to the fact that this office overall is utterly disrespectful of patients time. They should not expect that patients with chronic skin conditions can afford to spend hours of their time receiving routine treatments each week, in addition to extensive home care. The office is mismanaged, and the front desk staff ill equipped to address the patients frustration that results (and perhaps is it unfair to expect this of them). Ive been going here for two years, and I see someone get upset on roughly a weekly basis. If youre going to light therapy here, expect to wait minimum 30 minutes, but frequently 45 minutes to an hour each time (and they expect you to come 2 or 3 times per week). Ive also had some issues with convoluted billing, and the person in charge of billing spoke to me like I am a child rather than respectfully explaining my legitimate question on the bill. I had to ask in person to get my question answered, as my phone calls to billing were never returned. The issues with the office management are really disappointing, because the actual quality of treatment is probably the best I have ever received from a dermatology office (and I have been to a lot of dermatologists).

I am so disappointed in Messenger Dermatology. I went in for a routine cancer screening. I was a first-time patient but paid no copay because it was preventative. Dr. English did a great job and it was a really brief appointment, as it should be. Nothing out of the ordinary. I then got a bill for $138 as a "new patient fee." While it was a shock, I called the office to ask exactly what it was for. Did it cover additional paperwork? Testing? Nothing about my appointment was outside the scope of a normal appointment. After multiple phone calls, and actually going back and forth with them by letter several times, I got no answers. Nothing. No one would call and explain what the charge was for except "20 additional minutes" of doctor time that I definitely did not get and a notice that my bill was going to be sent to collections. I wasnt even trying to get out of paying. I am more than happy to pay for things that I actually receive. This is nothing more than a money grab for a preventative appointment that should have cost nothing. Not that it matters to them as the staff clearly dont care, but I most certainly will not be back.

I took my two sons, (15 and 17) in for an overall check. My one son had a wart on his thumb that was almost gone. He recommended extracting it and jammed a big needle in his thumb, and cut out a large spot on his thumb, barely getting the wart but taking far too much of the additional area. My other son had a cyst in his lip and he injected it with a solution that was supposed to break it up. It turns out to have gotten harder and bigger so we went to an oral surgeon who removed it and said you dont inject a cyst in the mouth, while you can in other places. Not sure he knew what he was doing. I think the doctor was Dr. Sufyan and while he was really funny and personable and seemed to really know his stuff, his procedures left us thinking it should have been done differently. My daughter has an appt with Dr. Gallagher today and I had a great appt with her a few months ago, but neither of us got reminder calls and just calling in to confirm it, was on hold 7.5 minutes. So support all the others that gave 1 star as the staff is not that organized or positive acting. Sorry

I dont know where else to go but here to review this office and a couple of its doctors. They seem very capable, but they stack the patients up in this office, plan on a two hour visit. Then one day, the roads were very bad, not too long ago, and I was 13 minutes late for an office visit, the doctor had LEFT for the day or lunch or whatever. I have a job and had the stress of braving the roads and she left. Since then I have had two appointments. Almost two hours for the first one, then after an hour of waiting for the second one I left. I am finding another doctor. It is too bad, because despite the treatment there by the staff, I actually like both of the doctors. But if a doctor expects you to wait for that long, cant they show you the courtesy of waiting to see if you are coming or call? They only want the money.

This review is not in the quality of the doctors as my first appointment with my doctor was a good experience with her being quick to see me, descriptive in her diagnosis and treatment, and being very friendly. The office staff on the other hand have been the complete opposite. I have been trying to get a prescription filled for four weeks now with no luck. I have called multiple times a week and have left multiple messages. While on the phone with the office they are very short with me and are quick to rush me off the phone without answering all of my questions. Its really unfortunate that it couldnt work out as I really did enjoy my doctor, but my patience has run out. Ill take my business elsewhere.
