At age 67, my wife and I just moved to Traverse City. I had painful sciatica from a root-canal performed by a dentist in Marquette. The dentist didnt wait for the anesthetic to take effect before banding my tooth. When she tightened the band, it sent a jolt of (440V) pain that arched my body up in the chair, damaging my vertibrae in my lower back. Following our move from the U.P., my sciatica got worse to a point that the pain was unbearable. I went to the Munson Urgent care clinic where I received four x-rays, prednizone and pain killers - sufficient only for 3 -4 days. I was referred to Northern Neaurological and Rehab Associates. When I called them to set up an appointment, they would not take me without a referral from a doctor - which I dont have yet. I explained that we just moved here and the referral was from the Munson Urgent Care PA and gave the PAs name. They still refused to take my appointment because she wasnt a doctor. By Saturday, August 19th, I was in excruciating pain (15 on the 10 scale) and went to the Emergency room at Munson. I received 4 more x-rays and an MRI. They inserted an IV with pain drugs and other pills and then held me overnight for observation and released me the following morning with another referral to Northern Neaurological, this time from the ER doctor. I called Northern on Monday and they said they had no referral. An hour later, they called and said they did have the referral and scheduled me for September 5th. It is now Thursday, August 24th and I am out of pain pills and am in extreme pain from my hip joint to the bottom of my foot. I called Munson ER again to get more drugs (I was on 4 different drugs) and the ER woman said they couldnt do that. I asked if I was expected to bite-the-bullet in pain until September 5th and she said she couldnt do anything. So, here I am, writing this in severe shaking pain (and a double Jim Beam). I will say that Rebecca DeCorolis, PA, at Urgent Care and Doctor Johnson at Munson ER are very good. They were very helpful, however, there seems to be no follow up of my status and no one at Munson or Northern Neaurological seems concerned whether I had enough drugs to take me until September 5th - which I dont. So, with that, 5-stars for the staff and minus -5 stars for Munsons policies.

I came into the ER last night around 5pm. I was in a 4 vehicle car accident around 230pm. I opted not go take an ambulance at the scene but decided shortly after i needed to go in. When i got to the ER i explained to the front that i was in a car accident and that i was experiencing head pain, memory loss and extreme pain in my foot. I sat in the waiting room for over an hour before xrays were done. While in xray i asked if my head was going to get looked at because i was having memory issues as well as pieces of glass in my forehead. The tech told me that there was nothing in my file for anything involving my head but he would ask the doctor. Back to the waiting room i went. I kept asking nurses for something for the pain, they told me i had to wait to see a doctor. Another hour goes by and i finally get put in a room. I immediately asked about my head and pain meds. I again was told i had to wait. Another hour goes by and i was told my foot was broken by the doctor. I asked for pain meds. She told me they were really busy and she would come back...another hour by, i still have glass in my face and horrible pain in my head and foot. I again asked the nurse for meds. She came back and said "well since youre in a hurry heres a Motrin" .....motrin??????? I was just in a four car accident, i have a broken foot, glass in my forehead, and i have been in extreme pain for over 3 hours now. Mind you i told the doctor my pain in my foot was an 8. So i took the motrin. She finally checked my pupils for a concussion hours after i asked to be checked. Then i was shortly released. No prescription for ANYTHING not even ibuprofin. Glass still in my forehead.i get home and had to pick the glass out of my forehead with tweezers. This morning i cant even get out of bed my entire body is in pain. Munson only treats you well if youre dying. I went home in extreme pain with NO HELP from the ER and i STILL HAD GLASS IN MY FOREHEAD. I wont go back ever unless my last option.

I went in with a problem and walked out with a bill. They charged me twice for urine testing for a UTI and didnt even give me a prescription that worked with MY bacteria. Either; they dont know what they are doing; they dont actually test anything or they just dont look at the results. They told me to call them if the prescription wasnt working. Well I called only to be told "there is nothing we can do. Unless you come back in" They wouldnt even prescribe me a pain med to help deal with the pain for now. (urination relief) I am not paying another $ 300 to a place that cant do things right the first time. It should be one and done. If you are a visitor, beware. If you suffer from UTIs Go to a different clinic. Their "high" standards arent as high as they make you believe. I came in with a simple problem and walked out with; the same problem, a lighter wallet, and headache.

I am a concerned employee of this establishment and see a lot of wrong doings going on. Management needs restructured, people are in positions that have no business or proper credentials for the position. They dont like anyone who has different views or fits their mold. If you dont fit, they drive you out, force you to resign or fire you. Ive seen large raises come down the pipe and still watch countless people leave after the raises. Some were a $5/hr increase. Way too many return hospital stays due to things that were malpractice and covered up. Munson is too big and needs competition. Theyve become a big business worried more about the dollar than the people. I can run an add stating I care about the traverse city people as well as they can. Im on the inside. I see the real agenda.

If I could give less them one star I would. ER staff is rude, careless and disrespectful. I was sent there for further testing (on a serious case of abdominal pain that was keeping me from sleeping, eating, getting out of bed or being the mom to my 3 girls) only to be treated like crap and be accused of looking for drugs. I had lost 35lbs in 3 months from being sick. WTF ?!? Thats the last thing I wanted. I wanted answers!! I even had an ER doctor walk out of my room while I was asking questions just so he could answer his phone. He never came back in. He sent the nurse to discharge me. He didnt do anything for me. Its like doctors dont care about the people anymore its about the almighty dollar!! Sad world we live in. Cant get medical help when needed because no one cares!
