Like family is how I have always felt when going here. But my doctor let his patients know that he is retiring. Since I have moved further away from this office I decided to maybe look for a place closer to where I live now. Well, this new place is not going to work out, but I wont go into that other than to say its not nearly like the treatment I got at Community Family Practice. So Im willing to come back to this office and see a different person even though it means driving a little further. I have always been very comfortable coming here. All of the staff members have been very nice to me on every visit. I dont understand some of the other reviews about the office being biased or rude. Ive never experienced that. Im 62 and have three major issues with my health, but that obviously doesnt bother them one bit. Generally speaking, Ive not had to wait too long in the waiting room, but sometimes it happens. But I know why. Sometimes a patient in front of me, or even myself, might have an issue that takes longer than expected to diagnose and treat. I keep that in mind whenever I go there. It is obvious that this practice doesnt put a lot of money into decor and I guess some people want that. But I take it as a sign that they put their money into other things, such as maybe helping some people who dont have the money for service. The facility is older, but its clean. So if you want a new office with fancy, expensive paintings, go for it. If you want caring doctors and staff, this is a great place to find that. UPDATE: I had my first visit to Community Family Practice after my short time away. Everything went quite well, as expected.

I am sickened by the discrimination that I have encountered from this practice. I called this practice and was informed that they are taking new patients, they do indeed take my fiancees insurance, but they would need to email the doctor with a bit of his medical history before an appointment could be set up.They asked what medications he is on, I informed them that he has been going to a methadone clinic for over a year and is stable on his dose and does not need this doctor to prescribe that. He ONLY needs a family care doctor. With this being the ONLY info that they had about my fiancee, they declined to accept him. What GIVES this practice the moral right to make us feel as we are not good enough to be seen there. They have no idea the circumstances of why he goes to a methadone clinic nor do they care. He has good insurance, which they accept, so that tells them that he has a stable job...YOUR clinic is the reason that many drug users do NOT seek treatment! Just from this experience I would NOT recommend ANY person to this clinic. When I got the call from the office that he would not be accepted I naturally asked questions, I was cut off in mid sentence and then hung up on!!!!!! RUDE RUDE RUDE!!!!!

I went here to get an HPV vaccine. Called, made and appointment weeks in advance for the vaccine, showed up, waited, got in with the nurse, and then they tell me they dont have the vaccine. This happened twice. Also I was to get the shots in like 3 month increments or whatever, I was never called or notified to schedule to come back in for my next shots. I had to call each time and remind them what was going on. So get this; year later, I moved away. I told everyone there that I moved away. I start getting texts and emails that I hadnt been there in a year and they wanted me in for a physical or whatever (so they can cash some money out of my insurance likely). It seems to me that they care more about that then getting me my vaccine on time. EDIT: I should mention though, the staff was really nice. Just seemed like they got a lot of organizational snafoos.

I like this practice. I find the staff to be pleasant and helpful, and I quite like my doctor. I have had to wait a very long time once, but in a medical office emergencies are to be expected. Except for that one instance Ive never waited more than 15 minutes past my appointment time to be seen, and most of my appointments have been pretty much on time. The staff is mostly nice and professional and helpful, and on that one very long wait the staff was extremely apologetic, when I felt they didnt need to be. My doctor is nice enough, but not overly personable, which is fine with me. I dont want a relationship with my doctor any more than I do with my car mechanic or a PC repair person. The way I see it, the less I have to interact with my doctor the healthier I am.

Called Community Family Practice to set-up an appointment as the their site said some of their doctors were excepting new patients. I asked for one, Dr. Cramer, filled out a release form and was told I would get a call later that day to schedule an appointment. When that didn’t happen I called back the next day to be told that they would not be accepting me. When I asked why the receptionist (Pam) said she didn’t have that info. Be forewarned! If their site still says excepting new patients understand it to mean only young and healthy people. I’m 62, have had some health issues but are otherwise healthy. This reeks of discrimination and I really with their was something else to do about it other than writing a Yelp review.

I brought my children here for 3 years while we lived in Asheville. I dont think we ever waited less than an hour to be seen. Dr. Haaksma is friendly, but often seems rushed and is not as understanding of natural treatments as he likes you to think. After moving to Greensboro, having their medical records transferred was the biggest PITA. No one returned my phone calls, and I was finally able to speak with someone regarding finances after the 3rd time. They charged me individually for each of my kids records (which was nothing more than a growth chart each). If I did it over, I would not go here.

I was informed by my insurance company that they are taking new patients so I called them to schedule a physical. They told me they would need to email the doctor with my medical history before an appointment could be set up. They wanted me to come in for a "pre-screening appointment before I could have a physical which would result in two office visits. I told them my schedule does not allow for two office visits as I travel for work. They refused to see me. Apparently they just wanted to be able to double bill.

Dr. Young is fantastic. After years of seeing various doctors, reporting my concerns, and getting shrugged off, Dr. young identified a possible diagnosis at my very first appointment that I had never heard of. Testing later confirmed the diagnosis and Dr. Young provided great education, support, and encouragement. The nurse is great too, always timely in returning my communications. The only thing I would change is the ambiance of the office. It could use some updating and brightness to be more welcoming.

Every experience, with every member of Community Family Practice, has been very positive for me and my spouse. Everyone is helpful, professional and down-to-earth. I love watching their patients in the waiting room, it looks like a cross section of Asheville. The physicians work with their patients and take time to listen. I had a wonderful family practice before I moved to the Asheville area and was concerned I would not find another. I did. I highly recommend this practice. Rachel Muir
