On Aug. 21, 2015 I took my dog in for a complaint of coughing. After being evaluated by the Doctor McCracken, she stated his lungs sounded clear (no x-ray was taken or even an option to have an x-ray)and that he had gingivitis and needed his teeth cleaned. They scheduled the teeth cleaning for three weeks later and gave him antibiotics for the gingivitis. I took him in for his teeth cleaning appt. on Sep. 2nd and a different doctor (Dr. Pickens) looked at him and he stated he didnt feel the teeth was the issue for the coughing and that he wanted to do an x-ray and some lab work. The results of the test showed that my dog had bronchitis and he needed a steroid and antibiotic. I received my bill and I stated I was not going to pay a re-exam fee. I had no issue paying the x-ray, lab work, or medication but I felt the re-exam fee was unnecessary as he came in the first time for the same issue and it was left untreated. After arguing with the vets office they took off the charge. I was upset with the vet but in no way cursed or screamed at them. On Nov 20th, I called to make an appt. gain as the cough had returned. I stated I would like to see Dr. Pickens as he was the one who found the issue with my dog. On Nov 23rd the vets office called to "alert" me that monies are due at time of service and that I was un-happy with the service the last time. I stated I was happy with the service the last time but just didnt think the charge was appropriate but I would like to keep the appointment because we were going out of town. The next day (the day of the apt) they called to tell me that the doctor would not see my dog. I even offered to pay upfront because I needed the appt and they refused. They could have told me the day I made the appt. they werent going to see me, instead of forcing me to find a new vet in one day. I work in Healthcare and felt this matter was handled very poor. I was a customer for 2 1/2 yrs. and had no other issues paying what I thought was a fair. I am extremely disappointed.

One star is more than this place deserves... Im new to the area and wanted to get established w/a local vet. I took time to call several places in the area and check out online reviews to get a feel for prices and quality of care before choosing to go w/Country Lane. Went in for a first-time appointment today and walked in on Joan the receptionist having a casual conversation w/someone sitting in the lobby; she didnt make eye contact w/me or say anything as I stood at the counter waiting to be helped. She just kept on talking, then answered the phone, so I sat down. She then hung up the phone and told me Id have to fill out paperwork, proceeding to call me "sweetie" instead of addressing me by my first of last name. She actually stood back and looked at me like really? Then she rolled her eyes as she looked past me at the other lady seated in the waiting room. Her "southern hospitality" was not only demeaning, her overall attitude was completely rude and unprofessional! At this point I was totally put off by her and didnt feel welcomed or respected. I dont have time or patience for the lack of courtesy she displayed, and Im certainly not going to pay to be treated that way. I walked out. Ill take my business where its appreciated!

I know some people are going to have poor opinions of anything at times. But I can vouch for the care and concern Diane, David and Robbie give. We have been taking our animals there for 5.5 yrs now. -A couple of yrs ago, on Christmas Eve, one of our BIG dogs bloated. We called the after hours phone and shortly thereafter received a call back from Diane. She told us to bring him in. Remember this is Christmas eve. She spent several hours with us and Bismarck (the dog), providing excellent care. After a while he was at a point where he just needed to be watched. Well, we stayed there with Diane until close to 3 in the morning, on Christmas Day. Now that is awesome. And that is just one example. We have many animals and would trust Country Lane with any of them. We have experienced nothing but the greatest care and concern for our animals whether they were treated by Diane, David or Robbie. I strongly recommend them.

A friend of mine has recommended that I make an appt for my 9 yr old Chihuahua Pinky, (male). Last summer I took him to Balsam animal clinic because he was infested bad with fleas. He is now infested again and Ive found 3 or 4 ticks. They gave him a pill last summer. When I called this time they said I had to pay $45 office call just to get the pill. My question is do you charge an office call also to get the flea pill? Also they said to get his rabies booster when its due there is no office call charge just bring him in and get the shot. So I dont understand why I have to pay $45 plus the cost of the pill. So Im looking for another vet. Thankyou

I have always taken my dogs here since we moved back from the coast and even when my husband was deployed but this last visit I was kind of upset because I didnt feel I was being heard out fully. I ended up having to take them to another vet to get the correct medicine. So I feel I wasted a good chunk of money, but it happens. The staff is friendly though and I dont doubt the vets want to give good care but this last visit was a bust.

Very good, caring vets who actually love animals. Ive been going to them for 8 years now, since we moved to Waynesville. We have both large and small animals and can always get help in an emergency which is GREAT! Dr. David saved my foal and my diabetic cat lived for several years with their care - he was almost 17 when we lost him.

We have been taking our animals to Country Lane for over three years now and think they are extremely knowledgeable with any issues we have had to date. I highly recommend them and am so glad I trusted my friends recommendation and went there - they have a customer for life.
