I called JAH for help with a stray kitten that was born on my property. I didnt have an extra 75 to 100 dollars for a visit ( I know the prices there...been there with my pets in the past) my husband lost his job so money was tight. I called because the Pioneer Feed Center in Hazelwood said to give them a call for help..they thought they might help with some meds. But to my surprize when I called the women (didnt get her name) blasted me for asking for Terramasin (something the feed center carries but was out of) without an appointment. She then told me that it was an antiboitic and it was agaist the law to give it out without a percription. I always thought that people who went into being a vet. did so to help animals....hmmm...maybe Im wrong it must be for the money because I was treated very coldly and with no respect. I know every business has to make money but I am sure that it wouldnt break the bank to put something aside for animals in need. I brought my cat in after he was run over by a car....they did xrays and put him into a cage and watched him for 4 days. This is all they did. When I went in to see him they told me it was going to be some time for his recouperation...and it could run into several hundred dollars. When I asked what they had done so far all they could tell me is that they watched him from time to time. I told them I could watch him at home just as well as they could. So they got him ready for me to take home....when I reached the lobby I was greeted with a 500.00 bill. It seems to me that it was quite a bit to watch him. Actually it seems to me that all they are into there is money. I will never set foot in there again. Take my word for it go to Waynesville Animal Hospital at least they are up front on the cost and they will work out a payment plan for you if you need one.

Ive been going there for years but have not always liked all the vets. Some are very uncaring and seem to be there only for the money, some dont even seem to like animals but some are great. A couple of the front desk staff have been exceptionally rude - the customer is always wrong in their eyes. For the most part Ive usually had no problems but when i have had them, theyve been major and they just blow them off like its nothing! Some have risked my pets health and they could have cared less! on my last visit I had an emergency with one of my cats. She had to have surgery which i could not afford bbut I was not informed of financial help which I was available. She had to have the surgery aagain when the 1st surgery failed. I was told aHAWA would pay for emergency procedures aand that I just had to fill out the paperwork bbut when I came to pick up my cat the next day, I was informed that it was too late to fill oout the paperwork, that it had to be done before surgery and I had to get an estimate from the vet first. They basically tried to blame it on me saying I had misunderstood when they had told me none of this. I was then given the choice of paying half the bill if i wanted my cat back - held my cat for ransom! I had to borrow my moms credit card just to get my cat back! Ive tried other vets in the area and most are way overpriced. Very few seem to actually care about my babies, So really dont have much choice but to continue coming here. Edit: They now have an Emergency Clinic from 5-12 every day which is fantastic! These vets are very caring and top of the line! The explain every detail of procedures and labs. Also some new vets at daily clinic that are really great. You can always request a specific vet but if theyre not working and its an emergency, you have to take what you can get.

Well I wish I had read reviews before I boarded my animals. I had to board three dogs to attend a funeral out of town. Left them on Thursday picked up on Monday. They were to have their shots updated for kennel cough etc. and a bath. My two poms looked as though their hair had been cut, I was told it was not and that they were so matted they should not have even bathed them. I brush my dogs before I even get myself dressed in the morning and how did they get the mats out if they didnt cut them out? So I asked did you not brush their hair which I got a reply that no one was there to do that and it isnt done unless requested. My dogs have NEVER been matted they are all rescue dogs! One appeared to have his butt shaved the other her sides looked cut down. Now my other one that they didnt attempt to cut because she already tried to bite them and chewed through their muzzle I was told has Kennel Cough after being their and having the shot! I am so done with this place. Their computer had a gliche and charged me $197.00 too much which they refunded. I have never boarded my dogs I never have them clipped by anyone I do all of their health care needs myself except for their shots. They have been perfectly healthy until now. My smallest pom has also started a hacking noise. Then I read where it takes four day for the Bortadella shot to fully take effect in the first place. So I was told to give her Robitussin DM and that they have received some calls concerning dogs with this that they believe it to be a tracheal virus. Ok I am finding another Vets office and yes I do think it is more about the money than the pet. All of mine seemed a bit traumatized by the whole situation when I picked them up. Never again. My dogs are my babies and not one of them has ever had a mat of hair. That was so ridiculous.

I am absolutely shocked and sorely disappointed in the response I just got from this establishment. I am the Power of Attorney for my mother (who is 80 years old and extremely sick and in a nursing home after a 2+ week hospital stay including surgery etc). Im in the process of getting her financial and other affairs back in order during this sad and difficult time. I called to schedule an appointment to get the dogs shots up to date (required so the dog and go visit my mother in the nursing home to hopefully help lift her spirits somewhat) and I was just told that Dr. Mitchell has determined they no longer wish to provide healthcare for this animal because of a problem they had in the past with my mothers attitude. I am fully aware of that problem ( and they are in the wrong but thats a whole other can of worms) but this is someone else who is trying to take care of business on her behalf. Even though I expressed that I would personally be the one handling this visit and picking the dog up they insisted they will not be providing any medical service for this dog. Dr. Mitchell and the Junaluska Animal Hospital on Asheville Highway just showed exactly how caring and compassionate they are for fellow members of the Haywood County Community. I am literally in shock at this stance given the circumstances and situation. This is a horrible HORRIBLE way to do business and I can assure you 100% that I will avoid this place and discourage anyone else from visiting there ever again.
