I strongly encourage you to do your homework on this place before taking your pet there. I also STRONGLY encourage you to do your homework on their so called "wellness plans" that they try to sell you at every moment. They overstate their prices for services (I compared same services with other local reputable vets and they were about 4 times higher) so as to sell you these wellness plans that they tout as a cost-saving measure to cover everything. Guess what? They dont cover everything. Need your pet spayed/neutered? Anesthesia isnt covered. Protective cone on their head isnt covered. Lots of stuff is not covered. Oh your dog died? Sorry that does NOT get you out of the plan, you must still pay in full. Also, these plans claim "unlimited office visits" but if you miss an appointment they will charge you the amount of a normal office visit. The wellness plan agreement states you can cancel for any reason within 4 business days of enrollment. PLEASE NOTE: Banfield considers Saturday and Sunday business days so if you enrolled on Saturday the 4th day is Tuesday. Everywhere else on the planet "business days" mean Monday - Friday. Can you believe this? Shenanigans. Heres another gem - the agreement states "In some cases limited staffing may require Provider to refer Member to an alternate Banfield Pet Hospital or to another veterinary facility..." Let that sink in - ANOTHER VETERINARY FACILITY! See exclusion (c) below. EXCLUSIONS: The following items and services are not included in this agreement: (a) Services and/or products purchased from Petsmart (b) Services, including office visits and consultations, rendered by specialists to whom the pet is referred by Provider (c) Services at any institution, clinic or hospital other than Banfield Pet Hospital. Do your homework! Also, I ponder the notion that a new graduate from veterinary school strives to work in a Mars candy company owned, corporate vet clinic environment that is Banfield. If all this sounds good to you, by all means, take your pet there, enroll in their wellness plan, give them lots of your money, and hope your dog survives the length of the agreement! WOWZA!

I placed my dog on a wellness plan so that he could have his teeth cleaned. After about six months into the plan, I was told that he could not undergo the procedure because he had a heart murmur, and the vet did not want to give him the required anesthesia. When I tried to switch to a lesser plan, I was told that I could not. I could not get a refund even though I would not ever be able to use the services I was paying for. I told them I did not want to renew my plan for the next year. They told me that if I did renew, they would waive my next two payments and send me some complimentary flea medication. I agreed to this. When I was billed the next month, I called them again. I was told that the waived months would occur after the renewal (waiving a lower rate), and no one had any idea about the flea medication, which I never received. I cancelled my renewal but would have to pay for the rest of my current plan. About two weeks ago, I was told that my dog was scheduled for a teeth cleaning procedure. I called and asked about the murmur and was told that it should not affect him. I agreed to the procedure. It was scheduled for September 22. That was the day I would have had to renew my plan. I called the corporate office number and specifically asked them if I would still be covered. They said yes. I then called my local Banfield office and asked them the same question. I was told yes, he would still be covered on September 22. Well, I took Bullock in this morning and they told me I could either renew my plan or pay full price for the procedure. For two years, I had nothing but good things to say about Banfield, but this last year, I feel as if I walked onto a used car lot. I feel like they are trying to backdoor me into signing up for services I can neither use nor want. I am so completely fed up with them. Everyone should know that their interest is not in the health of your pet as they say but in your wallet.

Took my dog in for a checkup due to a lame leg today. I had a coupon for a free first visit, which they honored. The veterinarian was Dr. McQueen, and she was very helpful and informative. I did not feel like they were pushing me to buy services, since I said I would pay for x-rays and they said we should wait a week to see if they are needed instead of just paying for the expensive x-rays prematurely. I received some pain medication for $17, and that was all I paid for. The visit took an hour, but I felt McQueen and the staff really tried to inform me and figure out the problem. Would definitely take my dog again, especially since regular visits are only $35! We were paying $54 per visit with the VCA clinics.

I recently adopted a very sick kitten from a shelter. When I took her in to have her looked at, they were incredibly thorough. And they hooked me up with a free flea treatment and ear cleaning! Ill admit I was skeptical of going to a vet inside of a store, but I was impressed. It was much more affordable than past vets and they were very respectful of me and my animal. The visits take a little long, but I dont mind. Id rather a thorough visit than a vet that charges $70 to get you in and out in 5 minutes!
