Our experience with Back On Track is mixed with positives and negatives. Perhaps most importantly, its best if you live in Portland or in very close proximity to Portland. We do not. We engaged this clinic to treat our old Lab and they failed to see our need for some exceptions regarding appointment times and our travel time. We asked for appointments in the afternoon and had to ask this and then plead our case each time we attempted to make an appointment. Our first appointment was very beneficial for our pup! She got a massage and whirlpool as well as some TENS unit work. She really responded well to this treatment. Our second (and last) appointment did not approach the attentiveness and concern that our fist appointment had. No whirlpool, no TENS unit and instead of massage, the Vet (Tech?) simply sat on the floor with our pup and petted her while lecturing us on how we had failed. That was it. No therapy of any kind and a one-way 3.5 hour trip for the pleasure of the drive up I-5? No advice about prognosis, no indication of why no therapy was administered that day and no input about treatment going forward that might improve our pets quality of life. This was the most frustrating visit to a Vet clinic Ive had in recent memory. That includes horse and cow Vets out in the American Desert. Strictly speaking, the treatment our pup received on our first visit was professional, effective and a good experience. Our second visit was the polar opposite. Im not certain if it is because we dont live close by or if they simply did not want us as clients, but the fact is that based on our second, and last visit to this clinic we cannot in good conscience recommend them to anyone outside the greater Portland area.

I cannot thank Dr. Shaw and the amazing staff at Back on Track enough. I was in a state of shock when my 5 year old pitbull, Kaya, was suddenly paralyzed from the waist down and my family veterinarian said she would never walk again. After a few very difficult months getting into routine of having a disabled dog we found Back on Track online and brought her in for a consult. Dr. Shaw said after the first visit that she could get Kaya walking again within a matter of months, I was in disbelief. Every visit we were greeted with kindness from each of the highly trained staff; everyone knew Kayas name and cared about her progress. The range of treatment options was amazing and Kaya benefited from acupuncture and laser therapy. But the most effective treatment came from Dr. Shaws "healing hands", as we began to call them. She would find kinks and knots along Kayas spine and take the time to work each and every one out. You could see her muscles soften and her neck lengthen as her body relaxed. True to Dr. Shaws words she started walking after a couple of months and has since made a full recovery. Every time she runs to greet me, making perfect turns and running circles, I am astounded by the miracle recovery she made. We both are so greatful for the amazing people at Back on Track and the special work that they do.

I would encourage anyone who has a dog that is unable to move, walk, run, and play as they had once loved doing, to make an at Back on Track for help. There is no reason to give up on an animal even when your veterinary doctor has no solutions. Even the first appointment, the evaluation appointment where Dr Shaw carefully goes over the dogs entire body in order to figure out what is causing the problem, is so valuable. I first became acquainted with Back on Track many years ago when my 8 year old shih tzu, didnt even want to go for his usual walks. After that first visit, he was a new man! Not out of the woods yet, (we had work to do), but he definitely walked out of the office with a spring in his step and a happy face. He kept on moving for almost five more years through periodic work outs in the aquatic treadmill. Since then two other dogs of mine have been to see Dr Shaw, who is like a dog whisperer. She is very good with them, the dogs, all shapes and sizes. Back on Track also has a very knowledgeable team working along side Dr Shaw. All in all, the office is very professional, compassionate, and totally supportive for the animals and their well being. I highly recommend Back on Track. Your dog will love you for it and will probably live a longer, happier life.

So many of our foster or owned rescue dogs with special needs have had their lives valued and enriched at Back on Track. It is hard in one review to honor all of them and BOTs effort and programs that made their lives worth living. Tash, an Akita/Aussie who on a blue sky day made your own heart soar was a former street dog whose foot infection compromised his walking. He thought going to back on Track where he was treated with compassion, kindness and skill was a visit to the Buena Vista Social Club. Max, a chocolate mastiff/Labrador mix with lymphoma loved the water tank; Sam , the American Bull dog, scheduled to be killed at a local animal control after he was labeled "unhealthy untreatable" due to femur injury got TPLO surgery then went to BOT for post operative therapy where he still goes on occasion for intermittent follow up. Teddy, the loving black Labrador lived 2 years longer with therapy after I was advised there was nothing that could be done for him, but there was rehab therapy. That is just a short list. All of them owe BOT their gratitude for enriching their lives in their last years. We do too. Gail

Dr. SHAWS outstanding rehabilitation center for dogs and cats is phenomenal - we are so very lucky to have this exceptionally high level of care for our pets in Portland, Oregon. The veterinarians and entire staff genuinely loves animals! My 15 1/2 year old canine has been going for treatments like water treadmill, laser spinal and regular acupuncture for the past two years. The physical therapy has really keep him happy and active. The Back on Track office is professional, clean and has the latest technology for all treatments. Cant say enough about it. My dog is my child! And I would only give him the best of the best for his well being and health. The prices are quite reasonable for the level of care and treatments our canine and feline kids deserve. Our animal companions give us unconditional love and it is important to make them as comfortable as possible through all stages of their lives. Thank you.

Dr Biana Shaw is one of the finest, most knowledgeable specialty Vets that I have ever encountered! I have been going there off & on for years. She managed the pain for my dog Rosey when she became ill which allowed us more time together with her being comfortable . She extended the life of my tripod Sadie for several years with very special treatments that allowed Sadie to rely on her remaining 3 legs without too much discomfort. Without Dr Shaw, Sadie would have been unable to walk the last 3 years. We got 3 extra years to share our love. No one should hesitate to use her unbelievable skills to help their ailing animal. I am so grateful to her. I have referred many people to her. Our rescue uses her skills. Thank you Dr Shaw!
