I was recommended this Vet office from a co-worker. Unfortunately it was NOT a good referral. We just moved to the area and my cat was starting to howl when he stood up. I took him in for a check up and they suggested X-rays. After the X-rays my cat was worse than before, started limping and not being able to walk (hes only a year and a half). They told me they had to send the x-rays to a Vet who specializes in injuries like my cat has. I walked out spending over $350 dollars. Three days later I get a call with the diagnosis. They want me to bring my cat in to get x-rays AGAIN and pay for them because they didnt get the shot that the Vet that specializes needed to see. I will be honest I cried on the phone, because all my savings was being slowly depleted. They said there was nothing they could do to help with the cost. After taking my cat in for his second x-rays he was completely immobile. He wouldnt leave the couch. I find out he has two broken hips. They told me we couldnt afford surgery and that he would need to just be on bed rest for 6-8weeks. They send me home with pain meds for him for only a week and that costed $50. He went from just having a little discomfort to every time leaving the vet being worse and worse. I felt like all they cared about was getting money. They did not care about my pet at all. The staff at the front were rude also, never smiled and whenever I tried to strike up a friendly conversation (Im from the Midwest, its normal to do that there!) they just acted annoyed.

I took my dogs to this vet to get fixed and when they brought my male out the doctor said it would be a few more minutes because "we werent watching him when he came out of anesthesia and he ripped his scrotum open with his teeth." I was told to bring him back the next day so they could put staples in. A coupe of weeks later there was a complication with the staples and my dog ended up in the local emergency vet. His scrotum was shooting blood at the pace of his heart beat. The new vet told me this was a direct result of a complication with the staples my dog should have never had to have in the first place. I spoke with the Village at Main to seek reimbursement for the emergency vet which was almost triple what the cost of the neuter surgery was to begin with. The doctor said he wasnt going to do anything because it wasnt their fault and that my dog "licked his wound" and thats why he ended up in the emergency vet. He did not. In fact, as you can see in the pictures, hes at the emergency vet with his cone covered in BLOOD! I would not recommend this vet at all and I will be filing a small claims suit out of principle alone. My poor dog. I get it, mistakes happen but when they do make it right! Im lucky I was home when my dog started bleeding!

I have been taking my dogs to the village at main and Tigard locations too for over 10 years. I am utterly shocked by the negative reviews! Most of our family and friends also take their animals there too and love them and I mean LOVE them! The whole staff has been more than accommodating on numerous occaions. My wife and I have English Bulldogs and it is so hard to find a Vet who actually knows the breed in the Portland metro area. Our dogs have had nothing but stellar medical care, whether it be surgery, preventative , or emergency care. The girls at the front desk are nice and helpful and will go out of their way to make sure you understand all charges on your billing statement. They will also come around to the other side and love on your animals, this is definitely calming to skidish pets. The prices are fair and we have even been allowed to take some prescriptions back for credit when not needed or if an alternative would be a better fit. The Vets and techs are great at problem solving and offer logical and clear reasoning when suggesting a regimen for care. I couldnt be happier with my choice of vet, that being said all businesses have their off days and thats a fact, so for your and your pets sake give them more than one try.

We took our first kitten here and got him neutered, he already had fleas because he was an outdoor birth and raised kitten so we expected they would take care of that with topical flea treatment and they did. We were satisfied they did a good job so brought our next kitten to get spayed. That part went well but they said they discovered fleas on her. She had never had fleas since both were now indoor and we got our new kitten from a very controlled environment. We havent seen a single flea appearance in over a year and she never had fleas in the 5 months we owned her prior to now. Its pretty obvious if she has fleas she got them from this place. Im very leary of bringing our cats back since its clear they dont clean their kennels well and their process of taking care of fleas in their own business isnt first priority nor is protecting their patient pets from getting them. They are loving and caring and seemed to take good care of our pets which is why they get 3 stars but fail in this important aspect. Fleas are inexcusable.

Okay, this is ridiculous. This place is great. Ive had 2 dogs neutered and 2 dogs spayed here with absolutely no complications. You know what that tells me? People arent following post-op instructions. Keep your dogs calm, dont let them jump, etc. I take all of my dogs here and so does my family and weve received nothing but the best care. Ive never met anyone who was unfriendly (stop being so sensitive!). Maybe they didnt want to be my best friend but they were not unkind or uncourteous. I have a 5 lb terrier mix who always seems to have issues and theyve done nothing but taken great care of her. I also call and make same day appointments all the time and they always squeeze her in when its urgent. As for follow up phone calls, are you kidding me dude, its a vet clinic and youre an adult, get your crap together. Im off to the vet so this will be then end of my rant. I would highly recommend this place they have great service at an extremely affordable price.

I started going to the Village at Main some time ago, and most recently had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Tran - who helped me work through some problems with my very complicated rescue kitten. She took the time to talk me through what would be required to save this kitty, when another vet at another clinic told me that she would have to be put down. In the end, kitten is now almost a year old, healthy and while she will spend the rest of her life on a special diet, the detailed instructions, testing, and compassion that we were shown by EVERYONE on the staff at Village at Main made us clients for life. I am particularly impressed with the support staff, who are clearly educated in their field, not just someone that was hired with no experience. Bravo Village at Main!
