OMG! I thought I was in a 3rd world country. (I take that back - Panamas health care was better!) My family physician scheduled me for a heart stress test and 2 chest x-rays for severe chest pain. They were informed that I had no insurance at the time. They called me a day or two before the appointment to remind me and found it prudent to inquire how I would be paying for the service. I said I would pay cash and they informed me that my bill would be over $1200 and asked "Do you have that much money?" I said yes and hung up. When I arrived at the front desk they asked for payment in full immediately. (I have had many medical procedures in my life, but this was the first time I had ever been asked to pay up front.) I was unsure of my options and needed the tests so I handed over almost $1300. They sent me to a room full of equipment with a very young hospital worker (I dont think she was a nurse, but a helper or technician of some sort.) As she wired me up to run on the treadmill I noticed she seemed confused and actually had to reposition some of the leads. As I ran she was at a console from which she initiated and monitored the test. As the test was underway she seemed even more confused but when completed she said I did "just fine" so I figured everything must have gone well. They then told me to get dressed and check out. I said "Ive already paid for two chest x-rays". Then they all looked at each other and told me they didnt know anything about any x-rays! They walked me to another section of the hospital and sat me in a waiting area where I read magazines for 2 1/2 hours until someone walked up and said "Youre waiting for a chest x-ray?" Enough said! Sometime later I received a letter stating that the stress test was "skewed" and there were no readable results. I asked if Id be getting a refund and they said theyd consider knocking $400 off a repeat test. I told them to go to hell! My lawyer assured me he could get my money back but it would cost me about the same amount to accomplish it - so they got away with it! I had the test redone at The Heart Group of Lancaster General Health and noticed how everyone seemed to know exactly what they were doing - no rewiring, no confused looks, and the least qualified person to be involved was at least an LPN. I mentioned to the nurse conducting the test that she seemed much more professional than the people at Regional. She asked what I meant and I conveyed the above experience just as written. She looked very surprised and said "Any qualified person conducting that test should have known without a doubt that the test results were coming back skewed and should have stopped the test until the problem could be determined." The test results from Heart Group came out without a hitch. I am retired and am not nor ever was affiliated with Heart Group. Perhaps there are other qualified places to have these tests performed, but Regional certainly is not one of them!!! I wish I had it to do over - I would have rather paid the lawyer to expose their incompetence. I have instructed my family doctor that I want no member of my family involved with any of their facilities - no blood work done by them, no appointments at Imaging Center of Lancaster, or any other affiliates. I dont know who all is affiliated with them but DO YOUR HOMEWORK! These people stole my money and gave me the worst caregiving experience of my life!!!

This is a horrible facility with incompetent outpatient surgery staff, orthopedic surgeons, and administrative staff. I had an unsuccessful shoulder surgery in 10/2015 by an orthopedic surgeon with rights at this hospital (S.B). I am under the age of 40 and now have a right shoulder/arm which cannot even be raised to a 45 degree angle. My entire life has been ruined by the complete incompetence and arrogance of this one physician. I have had another surgery and am scheduled to have one in a month. There are no solutions to my issue and I am now just waiting until I am "old enough" for a shoulder replacement. I attempted to contact this physicians superior to discuss my concerns in a professional manner. I was told by the office manager at his office that her hands were tied because she does not have the power to oversee the physicians. She referred me to the medical director at Lancaster Regional, Dr Anthony Mastropietro. He claims that he only oversees the physician when he is in the hospital. I have been attempting to resolve this issue since 12/2015 without success. I am constantly shuffled from one person to the other and am told my phone calls will be returned by a certain date, which does not happen. Dawn Shaefferman, Director of Quality and Risk Management is full of lies. She does not return calls and claims to mail a letter, which is never received. Ms. Shaefferman makes claims that she "investigates" the issues and of course does not find any evidence of the truth which happened to me. This physican posted a video of my surgery to social media, and Ms. Shaefferman said this did not happen as there is no record of this (I have the video link). Following my surgery at this hospital, I was sent home with a broken sling. I had to wait through the weekend (according to the hospital) and had to return to the hospital on Monday morning to obtain a new sling. I was told by the orthopedic surgeon on the day of surgery that he would come to see me in recovery. He did not see me or even speak to my family following my surgery. Please steer clear of this hospital for outpatient orthopedic surgery by Dr. S.B. with an office on Noll Drive in Lancaster as well as one in Lititz. Please also see my review of this physician on his offices site as well.

My Dad went in for back surgery (86) yrs. old. I went to stay with my mom, and my sister was there too. He was suppose to get operated on at 10:00 am. My Mom was told the night before she would be able to go to his room on the second floor and wait for him when his surgery was done. The time went from from hr. to the next until around 12:00. We understand things happen in surgery. We then were told he was going to room 1057. We asked at least 4 times about it because it was hard to find yourself around the hospital. My Mom needs a knee replacement and was limping as we tried to find his room. The surgeon told us at 1:00 my dad would be back in his room in an hr. why not go down and get some lunch. We did, then went to the lobby to ask where this room was, and she said there was not a room with that number. She couldnt find out where my Dad was so we went back a long confusing distance for my Mom to find that lady again. She tells us she was giving us the time of the room? She then told us to go back to the second floor waiting room which we just came from. An hr. goes by and we finally get a call they will be coming in 45 mins. More time goes by and its 4:30 now and my poor Mom starts crying. We called the operator to find out if we could know whats going on with our Father. My Mom finally gets a call from his nurse in the recovery room (Darlene) that she sedated him more because he was restless. She never called us and my Mom and us were going nuts for about 4 hrs. of waiting. I would never come to this hospital for anything!!! They owe my Mom an apology. The left arm doesnt know what the right arm is doing!!! Good surgeon, lousy hospital!!! We werent the only ones going through the same thing. Theres no communication to the loved ones waiting!!! Especially to my Mom who has been through countless times with my Dad in hospitals. Theyve been married over 60 yrs. and this operation was a big deal!!!! Darlene, if you see this ,you should be ashamed of not contacting my Mother, there was no excuse for what you did! Maybe some day you will be on her side and wish that someone would let you know whats going on with your loved one.
