If I could give this place a negative 5 stars I would. We had just adopted a puppy from a shelter and 48 hours later she started with diarrhea and wasnt eating. We called our local vet and because it was a weekend they were not open, so we were given the name of this place and told to bring her here. She was diagnosed with parvo. We were told that the cost could be $2k-$4k to treat. We did not have that kind of money so the suggested we fill out a care credit there in the office. We did and she was able to begin treatment. All week she was having some ups and downs which was expected and all in all she was doing well. We often asked to visit with her and we were told NO that is was against their policy because she was a parvo puppy and it is very contagious and she was in isolation. We asked if we could visit with her in the isolation room and go out the back door so not to walk through the clinic and again was told NO. One night after I demanded to see her they finally took us to the back and let us look at her through the window of the door. The tech holding her had gloves and gown on but was rubbing the puppy all over her face and kissing her. After a long 6 days of our puppy being there and after our money was exhausted they finally tell us that there is little to nothing more they can do for her and we should start to think about putting her down. We decided to euthanize her and drove down there to be with her. As we arrived the receptionist took us into an exam room and sat down and asked if we wanted a home burial or cremation. I said we wanted to talk to the DR one last time to make sure there was nothing more that could be done. The DR came in and basically said he didnt know what was going on with or puppy because the vet prior told him we were coming in to euthanize her. I demanded to be with her and hold her. So they put us in another exam room and brought her out to us. All week long we asked to visit with her and was told NO because she was so contagious, but now the tech brings her to us and she is only wearing gloves and no gown. We were able to spend about a half hour with her before the vet came in and he euthanized her and then the receptionist comes in and asks us if we want the first 6 months of our care credit at 0% interest and hands us the bill. Then another tech comes to get our little girl and again is only wearing gloves and no gown. Obviously its ok for the staff to spread infection to the other animals. This place is all about the money and they could care less about the care of animals. The only one who said they were sorry for our loss was the tech who came in to get her at the end. So sad!! I wish I would have read the reviews of this place before I took my puppy there. Please RUN DONT WALK away from this place!!

We took our cat here late on a Friday night because she was extremely lethargic and had a temp of 105. My husband took her in and they took her back pretty quickly. We explained to them that she was an extremely healthy indoor cat who was up to date on her shots and started acting this way after we gave her a flea treatment called Sentry (similar to frontline) and after reading the horrifying reviews about this product online, we knew she was suffering from a reaction from the Sentry. She had every side effect that other people had experienced with their cat except for seizures. Well the vet there didnt think that was the case and thought it was something else and started running other tests.. We were so upset and confused because the timing of her coming down with something that the Sentry didnt cause made no sense to us, but we just went with the flow hoping for her to improve. They kept her over night to monitor her temp and keep her on fluids. The next day when I went to visit the vet tech said she wasnt improving and her temp wasnt going down and that the vet would call us to discuss the next step when he came in. We are on a tight budget so we started preparing our selves that we were going to have to put her down if she kept getting worse.. I went in later that night to speak to the vet in person because I had tons of questions, and come to find out from the vet that her temp was FINE earlier in the day when THE TECH told me it wasnt!! So Im getting two different stories from people who work there and thats when something just didnt feel right to me. They kept insisting on doing an ultrasound to get more answers to what could be wrong with her and wanted to keep her there longer. Keep in mind when I arrived , they told me my cat was improving with her temp. I declined keeping her there any longer and told them I wanted her to go home with us, as soon as I said that a few minutes later the TECH came out and said my cat just got worse and her temp shot back up to 105 (sketchy much) and that they highly recommend she stayed there longer, we said no thanks and took her home (800 dollars later and with NO answer as to whats making her sick) As soon as we got home I took her temp and it was 102.3..hmm. I wanted a second opinion. I took her to a different local vet this morning where he said WITHOUT A DOUBT she was suffering from the side affects from the Sentry and had some congestion.. I am livid that we just spent so much money and were convinced that our cat was dying based on what they told us at the Veterinary Emergency Care. Take your pets elsewhere.

I took my dog to the Charleston location, because I was told my dog needed a Veterinary specialty doctor. You see my dog had a tumor in his stomach the size of a softball. He is only 8 years old and we love him very much. We live three hours away from this hostpital, but we would travel three days away if we had to, as long as he is getting the best care possible. When we arrived to location the receptionist was very curtious and the doctor was also very attentive to our needs. They took a look at our dog and performed all necessary test. Once it was determined that my dog needed surgery, everything just changed. Apparently the front office is totally seperated from the back office where they perform the surgeries and their billing.. I received two different estimates . One from the front and one from the back. I had $1500 with me, I explained that this was all I had with me and that I will bring the remaining when I return to pickup my dog after the surgery, but the estimates were $1000 for the front and $1900 for the back. They insisted on me paying the entire amount for both sides or my dog will not be taken cared. I was in shock when I heard such thing. I thought that this vetenerian hospital was supposed to take care of all animals in need rather than the ones with money. Needless to say after a long battle with the doctors from both sides they decided to take care of my dog. Two days later I picked up my dog and he looked great. We brought him home, one day later we were concern of some of my dogs symtoms. He developed a rash and was hurting alot. We called the hospital and inquired about speaking with the doctor about these issues. He was not there so we asked the receptionist if he would call us back ,she said ok.We never heard from them. It has been 4 days since my dog was operated and not one person from this hospital has called us and asked us what is our dog condition. I would assume that if any dog or person goes thru a major surgery like my dog did, the hospital would be somewhat concern of the status of their patient. Apparently this hospital all they were concern was about making sure that their money was paid on time. I would not recommend this place to anyone. It appears that the main concern for this hospital is making sure the bill is paid.
