My mother was recently admitted to Tennova Lebanon, and her experience was utterly appalling. The staff ranged from unsatisfactory to criminally negligent. This was not just a couple of disgruntled employees; the widespread disregard of professional behavior indicates a culture of indifference throughout this facility. Here are just a few examples of what my mother and/or I witnessed during her stay: In the ER, after initial exam, we were completely ignored for TWO HOURS with no visits from anyone. No information, no "please be patient, we are waiting for a room to open up"...nothing. The ER was not busy; we would probably still be waiting there if I hadnt started pressing for some information. When the respiratory tech finally came in after our long wait, she shook her head and mentioned that my mothers oxygen had not been turned on! She sat here the whole time with a cannula in her nose with no benefit whatsoever. When I mentioned that to a different respiratory tech a few days later, she laughed it off and said: "Yeah sometimes that happens. We get busy and forget". Incredible. It is their job not to forget "little" things like oxygen. Especially with a patient that is suffering from pneumonia. Double fail. On one of my afternoon visits, my mother told me that she attempted to get assistance in going to bathroom TWICE. Both times the nurse call was answered with a "be right there", but no one ever showed up. She literally had to yell "HELP" until someone decided to show up and assist her. I have no words. This is elder abuse. I notified Nurse Leader Bridget Powers the minute I was told of this abuse. Another afternoon I came to visit and found my mothers room vacant, bed made, no trace of her belongings. Since she was very ill, I naturally assumed the worst. In a panic, I tracked down a nurse who told me that she had been moved to the ICU. I was never notified in spite of the fact that my contact info was in her chart AND written on the whiteboard. This is an inexcusable failure on an epic scale. I dont care whos responsibility it is to notify family when a patient is moved, but SOMEONE needs to make sure it gets done. I would much rather get three different people calling me to tell me what is going on than to be completely in the dark. I made it clear at the time that this was completely unacceptable, but obviously my concerns fell on deaf ears since I was not notified when my mother was returned to a regular room; I had to go find her on my own when I found her ICU bed vacant. One afternoon while walking my mother up and down the corridor to build her strength, we walked past the nurse station where several nurses were laughing and joking around. They were being very loud, and I couldnt believe how rude they were being to all of the patients who were trying to rest. As we approached the other side of the nurse station, we saw a man in a gown standing at his door trying to get their attention. They were obviously ignoring this poor patients call button request. He got louder and louder until he could not be ignored any longer. Whatever he requested required one of the nurses to go to the other end of the corridor, and as she did so she loudly complained the entire way about how impatient some people can be. I have to believe that there is a special place in Hell for anyone that can be this sadistic. Almost every person I came into contact with was surly, slovenly, inconsiderate, uncommunicative, and generally miserable and unprofessional (EXCEPT FOR NICOLE ON THE 2ND FLOOR AND LEAH IN THE ICU - THESE LADIES WERE WONDERFUL, CARING AND 100% PROFESSIONAL...KUDOS TO YOU BOTH!!!). Every workplace has its share of bottom feeders, but I have never in my life witnessed a group of people in one workplace so completely and universally unwilling to make the effort to perform their duties at an acceptable level.

Is there a button for no stars?? Im not from here but they admitted my dad for the wrong thing, left him to rot in his room because of it. His shoulder pain that he was having ended up being a massive heart attack later. Thankfully by this time my mom had transferred him to a different hospital or my dad would probably be six feet under. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL. HORRIFIC ON ALL ASPECTS FROM ADMITTING, NURSES, AND DOCTORS...ALL THE WAY TO ADMINISTRATION BEING CONDESCENDING WHEN MY MOM FINALLY LOST IT ON THEM. My mom knew what was wrong and they absolutely would not listen because he had been in the hospital before..they left my dad an entire night with no water, no urinal, or even a way to get to his cell phone to call for help. Dad was so dehydrated he was loopy the next day when my mom got back to the hospital. These people need shut down. PS. The caseworker was the only one who would listen and help at all. Thank goodness she was there, but moreover...thank god he was transferred to Centennial and Sarah Cannon.

I arrived at the ER at 6:30 pm. a CT, an ex-ray, blood work and urine analysis was all done. A tube was inserted into my nose and throat, I Was Admitted and finally got to a room about 11 or 11:30 that night. A surgeon was a assigned to me, but my PCP was never contacted. At noon the following day, I had never seen a doctor. I hadnt eaten in over 24 hours, My throat was hurting from the tube, and I had no idea as to the results of all the testing. I asked to nurse to call the doctor. In a short time she came back with "the orders were to make sure the tube was clamped and give you a drink of water". He had refused to answer her question as to when he might be there. I signed myself out of Tenova with never having seen a doctor or having any idea what the issue/Diagnosis was. I was mortified at the uncaring attitude of the doctor and the fact that Tenova would have him on staff. NEVER AGAIN!!!!
