Ive been a patient of Dr. Durochers for twenty years. Ive always loved his approach and recommendations. This past time left much to be desired. The lady that checked me in kept pushing for my insurance card. I explained that I didnt have vision insurance and that Id be paying cash. She asked a third and forth time for my medical insurance card. I refused because at my last visit, they charged me out of pocket and then billed my medical insurance for what Id already paid for, which I had to argue with insurance about. Dr. Durocher completed his exam and I went out to the area where they fit you for glasses. I simply wanted my prescription so that I could get my lenses elsewhere for less. I knew immediately that they deemed this a problem. At first they wouldnt give me the prescription. When I asked a second time, someone finally wrote it up. Once my glasses came in (that I ordered somewhere else) I called to inquire about coming back in because I wasnt adjusting to my prescription as I thought I should. It took three phone calls and speaking to five or six people before they agreed to let me see Dr. Durocher again. Upon my arrival, everyone except his nurse made comments about how I purchased a "generic" lens. Dr. Durocher was mostly professional about it although mentioning the same, "lesser" lens and suggesting that I order my lenses there. They rewrote the prescription and suggested I go back and speak with the people who made my glasses, since they use a inferior product. My first visit was $180, which after comparing prices at other eye doctors, is steep, to say the least. At my second appointment, they charged me $55 for the revisit. I protested and thought this to be insane. There was no getting around it. I paid it. In fact, the company that made my glasses refunded me $55 because they felt this was so unjust. Ill be finding another eye doctor, after 20 years.

After reading the great reviews on here, I called to make an appointment. Maybe I walked in on the wrong day or maybe I expect too much in bedside manner or maybe its because I was a new patient. Whatever the case, I went to see Dr. Durocher on 9/28. I needed to see a eye specialist quickly because I was experiencing flashing lights and was afraid of having a detached retina. While I found his front staff and nurses to be top notch and very friendly, Dr. Durochers bedside manner left much to be desired.I had not been to an eye doctor in 4 years because of a personal loss. Dr. Durocher was very cold, stern and unfriendly about how horrible it was that I had not been to an eye doctor in 4 years. While I understand he is in the business of trying to make sure people use eye doctors to maintain their eye health, he could have inquired about what circumstances surrounded the absence. At the end of the exam he asked me if I knew the signs of detached retina, I said of course I did because that was the reason I had made the appointment. He replied since I knew the signs so well I should name them to him. There are too many eye specialists in Nashville who are kind and want to get to know you. I recommend Peace Eye Care highly, I should have waited for an appointment there where you experience kindness and a high level of professional knowledge. For the price you pay you should be able to get both.

Dr. Durocher and his staff have provided the finest service possible during the past six years. I travel nearly 200 miles to be cared for by Optimetric Physicians. Because of weather conditions this winter, I had to reschedule my appointment multiple times; the staff was very accommodating and understanding of my special circumstances. The medical staff are very competent, courteous and helpful. I was particularly impressed with Amber for her knowledge and pleasant personality. She made the tests enjoyable. The expertise of Dr. Durocher is unrivaled. He always makes me fell as if my concerns are important to him. I truly appreciate all that Optimetric Physicians does to assess my vision needs and to help me cope with serious Macular Degeneration.

I feel compelled to give a big thank you to Dr. Richard Durocher. He was able to see things in my child that other specialists in other areas could not. He was able to tie things all together in a situation that has been very perplexing. If you have a child who struggles with attention, headaches, focus, or learning issues, I would highly recommend that you go to him and have him do some assessments of your childs eyes and vision, to see how their eyes work separately and together and how they communicate with the brain. He is one of the best clinicians I have ever been to. I love those M.D. types, and they also know their stuff, but sometimes you dont need a doctor of medicine to help you SEE what is going on behind the scenes. Thank you, Dr. D!

I visited OPMTs Belle Meade location earlier in the week to pick out glasses for my toddler. Prior to the visit, I had looked at glasses at four other businesses around town. I ultimately chose to purchase my little guys glasses from OPMT (despite the fact that they were more expensive for the particular lenses we needed) because of the time they spent with us and particularly because of how gentle they were with my son, who had had eye surgery just 4 days prior and was suspect of anyone going near his eyes. There is no end to the good things I have to say about the front desk staff and the opticians. We are huge fans and well be customers for life!

Dr. Durocher and his staff are always very friendly and courteous. The service is prompt, I never wait in the waiting room more than 5-10 minutes, and usually less than that. My husband and I have been seeing Dr. Durocher for 3-4 years for our annual exams and contact lens fittings. He has cured both of us of incessant dry contacts by offering better quality lenses to fit our needs. Location is convenient, office is beautiful, I highly recommend Optometric Physicians of Middle Tennessee!

My daughter and I have been seeing Dr.Durocher for years. Now my mother does as well. He is a great eye doctor, I always hear from friends that during an exam they feel like they are taking a quiz and are are afraid they will give the wrong answer. With Dr. Durocher you can relax and truely decide what helps you see better. Dr. Durocher and his staff make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in the door and until you leave.

I have had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Richard Durocher in the Hendersonville office for about a year. I started seeing him after my former doctor, Logan McCord passed away & Dr. Durocher took over. I have been very pleased that he has an office in my area. He can highly referred from Dr. McCords office. The staff are very friendly & helpful. I look forward to continuing my eye care with him & his office.
