Doctors are the worst I have encountered EVER! They "rotate" and make arbitrary medication changes with absolutely NO COMMUNCATION to the patient or the family. My mother went into respiratory distress three times due to the fact that the "doctor of the week" changed her meds without telling anyone!!! And she ended up in ICU as a result of this incompetence. We were told when we went there that days 1 - 20 were paid 100% by medicare and days 21 - 100 were paid 80% by medicare and other 20% would be picked up by supplemental insurance. My parents have very good supplemental insurance. On day 20, a visit by a doctor we had never seen before, informs us that we have to move that week - his exact words to my father "you cannot stay here forever"! The most uncaring speech I have ever heard from anyone! The nurses routinely tried to give the wrong doses of meds and when I questioned the amount, they "re-read" their computer and found that indeed they were about to give double the dosage prescribed. Not sure what would have happened if my mother had continued to get double her blood pressure meds. They run labs occasionally - no rhyme or reason as to when or why or are you told. On one occasion the labs were returned and my mothers blood glucose level was 60 but no one even looked at those and by the time she woke up that morning her BGL was 15!!!! Stroke, coma level. I did notice on many occasions as I walked past the nurses station the nurses were surfing the web and reading facebook while by mother had a BGL of 15! Inexcusable! We were promised physical therapy five days a week, twice a day. We got three sessions in 21 days. The PT would show up and if she was getting a breathing treatment or nurse was dispensing meds, they simply left and never returned. My mother was weaker and more fragile after 20 days in this facility than when she went in. I spoke with every doctor that came into her room and still NOT ONE would communicate with us regarding her care - what they were doing and why. We finally had to have a family member in the room 24/7 to make sure they did not kill her. If you care anything about your loved one - go as far away from this place as you can! Be warned - it could cost your loved one their life!

I am a 75 year old female and I was concerned and skeptical of this facility when I first came as I had not heard of it before. I was amazed at the cleanliness and brightness of the hospital. I was further pleasantly surprised that the nurses took complete care of me and did it with a smile. All the nurses have been trained to care for an LVAD patient such as myself. As this is a left ventricular assist device, it requires very high maintenance since it is my life support 24 hours a day. Essentially this is a heart pump because the left side of my heart does not work and the right side appears to be quite weak. The physicians here are specialists in my care and they also have wonderful bedside manners. The Baylor Cardiologist and LVAD Coordinator have both come to see me and the Baylor Cardiologist is on the medical staff at Kindred Dallas Central. I have had physical and occupational rehabilitation everyday and it has helped me a lot. They are very pleasant and professional. They take extremely good care to be sure that all the equipment is sanitized after each use. If possible, I would make this my home for the rest of my life. But of course, in my case, mankind (insurance restrictions) prevents this. I would highly advise anyone who is healthy should acquire long-term insurance while they are still healthy. The rooms are cleaned twice a day and everything is immaculately cleaned. On a fun note, I have been able to have my sewing machine in my private room and have been able to continue to make my baby quilts and throws. When there are any concerns on my part about anything, they address the need immediately as far as possible. I highly recommend Kindred Hospital Dallas Central.

Just an update to this post. Upper Mgmt. did reach out to me and will do a thorough investigation as to what and how could this have happen to my mother. I am glad to see that some changes will be made so that this does not happen to future patients. I no longer feel that this is a Horrible Hospital but I need to mention that Kindred have good and bad employees that represent the Hospital as a whole. It is because of those few Nursing Techs that need to rethink if they should stay in Nursing field at Kindred Hospital. Words alone can not the describe how incompetent, unprofessional and uncaring Nursing Techs/Upper Mgmt. Staff really are. With the exception of only 3 Nurses that treated my mom with compassion and respect. I will be reaching out to the Texas Dept. of Health and Human Services in regards to the incidents where my mother was left on a few occasions in her own bodily fluids and feces for several hours. Which should of never have happened for a Hospital that Strides for superior Service. I was referred to this hospital by a reputable Dr. who said, Kindred was a good hospital - this has not been so in the care of my mother.

First, I must say that I do not completely blame most of the nursing staff. One in particular left trash on the floor of the room. Even bloody gauze! Disgusting. Another tore my mothers skin when removing a line from her arm, and showed no empathy. The doc of the week" system means no patient rapport, no synergy of care. My elderly mother was sent there for wound recovery. As soon as day 60 approached (The magical day that medicare would no longer pay them), I was told that my mother was to be discharged. No preparations had been made, and we had nowhere to take her. Within one day, we had to make arrangements to go to skilled nursing. On the same day that she was to be discharged, the "doc of the week" decided to perform a needed a blood transfusion. What do you know? Medicare pays for that, too! Frankly, the administration at this facility is abysmal, and I wouldnt send my dog there for any kind of treatment. I dont have a dog.

First of all let me explain that I know what Im talking about. Ive been in the hospitality/customer service business for 30+ years of which 15 of that I owned my own business. Over the past two years I have been in six different hospitals for care and I have realized that my stay at Kindred Hospital Dallas Central has been beyond my expectations in terms of quality of service, food, quality and inservice, medical care and therapy. The staff and their knowledge of their job as well as their charachter and treatment toward the patient is exemplary and these results come from proper training. Therefore, if you have to have the unfortute position of having to be hospitalized, I would recommend youre medical needs will be fully met with excellent care and knowledge at this facility.

I have had a good experience while admitted to Kindred Hospital Dallas Central. The nurses and in particular the CNA,Gloria, has excelled in both caring for me and providing all my needs. Overall, the clinical staff are well trained and also make it clear that my best interest is what they are focused on. All the team in Rehab is also fabulous and they put you at ease with their knowledge and also fun while working so hard and I have gotten so much better and stronger. I actually didnt realize I would have such a great team working for me and it gives me a lot of confidence in the care I am getting. As for the food, as a diabetic I must have a bland diet; but, find the food here to be palatable. I would definitely recommend this facility if you need long term hospital care.
