I was not to pleased with my visit when I went for a contact exam. It seems they have an "assistant" who performs the eye/contact exams when the Dr is not in. Was not made fully aware of that fact and when I decided to not purchase glasses or contacts from them I found out I would have to wait for them to fax Rx to another facility so the DR there could sign the Rx in order to release them to me. After waiting more than 40 minutes I was told the Dr had just left San Benito facility and was on way to Edinburg facility so I would have to wait an addtl hour. While staff were nice and apologetic it did not make it "all better" I felt like I was simply being "seen" so as to charge my insurance and get paid. Be very careful if your insurance is HUMANA as they used up ALL the benefit that I get from my insur and applied it towards the Contact Exam only! I will have to dish out addtl money just to pay for contacts and glasses! This seemed like a major rip off to me! Who else charges $180 for a contact exam?!! Anyway be careful and demand to know charges up front I sure wish I had!

university eye center does NOT know their insurances procedures for claims and verification of benefits. what is scary is that if they do not know and they mess up they are not liable for the cost of their service YOU are! we pay for benefits and insurances because we do not want to pay the full price of services which If youre going private pay you will be squeezed for as much as possible. besides the financial aspect the receptionist ROSE is very stand offish and has next to me customer service skill. appointments are double booked, possibly triple. we will avoid this place like the plague! hope this was helpful...

I have to say the service with the receptionist was not the best, I did had some issues with my prescription but I was helped very much but the optical manager Diana Mata was very nice, she took the time to help me get with to the right prescription and the right glasses. She even had someone transport my glasses to the RGC office, since I work over there but got my exam in the Edinburg location. Over all, the effort she made to give me a final satisfactory result was amazing!! I will most definitely continue going there.

Worst experience Ive had with any health professional office. The staff was disorganized and only interested in paying up front. They dont accept blue-cross insurance. They didnt have a trial pair ready but wanted me to pay in advance to order the year supply for 1 year. What if the trial pair wasnt the right fit? I waited for prescription while the staff scurried to lock up for the day. Just waited and no one brought me my script. I walked out without my prescription so I guess Ill pick it up later.

I was seen at university eye center for a routine eye exam and left with pink eye. One of the staff that examined my eyes apparently placed an instrument to measure glaucoma directly on the surface of my eye. I started having problems that afternoon and called the office but was told the doctor was leaving for the day and was not in on Friday. So now Im left with my eyes swollen shut. Thanks university eye center. Needless to say, I will never go back..

Had a positive experience. Took about 2.5 hrs to get an exam/contact prescription. Very reasonable imo. Doc took the time to speak to me, nurses were friendly. Great place.

This office has the worst customer service...I had to look for someone to help just to be told to come back tomorrow....the employees do not care about the customer!
