If you would have asked me about Lazy Paw 2 weeks ago I would have said they were the best vets ever. Sadly I can do long do that any longer. I NEVER right reviews but I feel like people need to be aware at how we were treated by Lazy Paw. I will try to make this brief. We have taken our dogs to Lazy Paw for at least 5 years. One of our dogs was a male Corgi. He had a strong personality and sometimes showed his teeth but never bit anyone. He did have to be muzzled to be treated. We had no problem with that. About 3 years ago he had swallowed a piece of plastic. Lazy Paw did the surgery and was wonderful. Came through with flying colors. About 2 weeks ago my corgi swallowed something again and became very sick. We of course called Lazy Paw to help him. They gave us an appt and said bring him in. About an hour later we get another call from them telling us we should take him to another vet because they dont want to treat him. My husband was shocked and said we would muzzle him and he would be fine. They said ok bring him in. My corgi was in really bad shape at this point. vomiting and not doing well at all. We get to Lazy Paw and they put us in a room. We had to wait at least 15 minutes before they came in. So the dr. and assistant come in and we tell them whats going on. The dr listens to his belly and says we wont treat him. My husband and I said what do you mean you wont treat him. He said NO because he was hard to handle. Never once did they tell us the did not want to treat him because he was difficult. My Corgi was dying. we were devastated to say the least. All the would do is refer us to a specialist that was going to cost us over $5000 for surgery. We took our sweet Corgi to the specialist vet because we had no other options. The did an xray and he had swallowed a ball and some fibers. The fibers in his intestines caused them to loose blood flow and die. Sadly we had to put our Corgi down. It was a very traumatic day from start to finish. We are still mourning our Corgi. We are very sadden and heartbroken on how we were treated by Lazy Paw. Yes, they have great reviews. I feel like people need to be aware of what happened to us. I would beware of Lazy Paw. There are other great vets out there that will not refuse to help your dog or cat.

UPDATE: Ladies and gentlemen of the Internet, LazyPaw is one of the very best rated vets in DFW for very good reason...they earn it! After engaging with the vets and staff at LazyPaw a couple of times over the last 6 months, I wanted to write this update. Often your first experience with a service provider can be great, but the magic wears off over time. LazyPaw has consistently been professional, friendly, knowledgeable, affordable, and an all-around awesome experience. Feel free to keep trying as many vets in North Dallas as you please, but when you are done with all the hassle I describe below and are ready to a truly positive experience with a vet, make your appointment with LazyPaw. ORIGINAL REVIEW: We have been searching for a good vet to help us care for our two dogs. After trying out several places, we noticed it is tough to find a vet practice staffed with sensible people. Everywhere we tried, either the front office was chaos, communication was a mess, or the vet tried to run up the bill by pushing for unnecessary tests/exams/pills/etc. Yes, I do expect you to explain why you want to order a $200 ultrasound. Yes, I do expect you to call when you said you would. No, I dont want a $3000 teeth cleaning. No, I dont want prescriptions for a "life-long" maintenance medication in 2 month supplies, because Im not paying you for an office visit every 2 months for a refill. It seemed impossible to find a vet practice not staffed with condescending bullies who are either greedy or inept....then we did the research and found LazyPaw. We are just beginning our relationship with LazyPaw, but so far they have proven themselves reasonable, competent, friendly people who care for our dogs well AND make it an enjoyable experience. They answered all of our questions like articulate adults, did everything they said they would, didnt try to gouge us on the office visit, and did it all while being really super friendly. Friendly, competent care at affordable prices??? It is like the unicorn of vet practices!!! Definitely give these folks a try!

We recently had to make the decision to find a new vet for our boys, two Boston Terriers. We loved our previous vet, but do to distance and scheduling, decided it was time. After searching the internet and looking at reviews, landed on LazyPaw and I sure am glad I did! I called first to ask a few questions and was given all the time I needed and all the answers to my questions without being rushed off the phone. I only needed bordetella, but was told there would have to be an exam because they were new patients. Then they let me in on a secret...if I could bring them in separately, over two days, I could take advantage of the free new patient exam for both of my boys! They did not have to tell me this as I would have paid for the second exam, but they let me know anyway! In contrast, I called another vet that had great reviews, and I am sure they are every bit as good as the reviews say, but while answering my questions, the girl on the phone then immediately tried to sell me an annual pet plan that would have run me nearly $500.00 per dog. I can tell you, the initial phone call talking about leaving a vet you love and talking about how great he was and that he never tried to do unnecessary tests, is a horrible time to try to sell a care package. I went right back to talking to Lazypaw. Scheduling the appointments was super easy on their website. On the first visit with both dogs, they spend the first few minutes just getting to know your pet and asking and answering questions with owners. They actually sat on the floor for my shy pup for about 20 minutes while we talked. It was awesome to not get rushed in and out like cattle. They deserve every star they have and more in my book and I look forward to a long relationship with LazyPaw!

We recently moved to Texas and had not found a vet for our 2 year old lab. He suddenly became very ill and after going to another vet and an emergency hospital, we found LazyPaw. We were greeted by their incredibly friendly staff, they immediately made us feel comfortable and welcome. Dr. Bilhartz thoroughly examined our dog and explained his condition and patiently answered all our questions. Even though our dog had received treatment for pancreatitis at the emergency hospital, he was not completely responding to it, and Dr. Bilhartz was concerned it could be a blockage even though it was not showing on the x-rays. When our dog did not improve the next day, he recommended surgery. Even though it was a difficult situation, he made us feel he really cared about our dog and made things easier for us. They were able to work him in that morning and both Dr. Bilhartz and Dr. Hunter were in the surgery, which was very reassuring. When the procedure was over they called us to confirm they were able to remove the foreign body and we got to see our dog that same afternoon. He spent the night at LazyPaw for recovery and they took great care of him, we were able to take our dog home the next day and it was amazing to see he was looking so much better. They provided detailed instructions for his care and special diet and followed up on his recovery. We highly recommend LazyPaw, amazing vets, great caring and friendly staff to meet your pets needs at reasonable prices. We will never be thankful enough to Dr. Bilhartz, Dr. Hunter, and the LazyPaw team for saving our dog.
