The only reason this Vet received 1 star is due to the Vet himself being knowledgeable. The staff was rude and incompetent. I took my cat in to get a checkup. I made clear to them my cat was TERRIFIED OF DOGS due to being attacked and wounded by one! They took him back to draw blood and upon their return my cat was meowing softly, limp, with his arm shaved in a girls arms. Then he was shoved, yes shoved, back into his carrier while a small dog was chasing them into the room. I was in shock. The staff member said and I quote "knocked him out because he was mean" and ran out with a dog following. This is an orange tabby who has been dragged around by little kids by his tail and never ever even hissed. He only gets upset around dogs, which they were informed of. They had sedated him because he "scratched a staff member"...I made sure to to look at every staff member before I left and NOT ONE had a single scratch. I asked if this was due to a dog chasing him in and they responded, "I guess it was due to the dog"... If I hadnt of seen the dog they wouldnt have said anything about it. When we went to pay the staff was joking around, flirting with each other, and ignoring the customers. Very unprofessional. I was told by several staff members, "Oh your the one with the mean cat" I said "No, he is very nice, he is just scared of dogs like I told you earlier." I would NEVER refer anyone to them. My friend is a Vet,I have been to many Vets, and have never had such terrible rude treatment from staff. They need to be more professional (this is a business not a hang out for teenagers), not have small dogs running about the vet (it should be on a leash or restrain when told that the animal being checked up is terrified of dogs), be knowledgeable of how to restrain a cat without sedating him WITHOUT my permission (which is ILLEGAL), and last but not least the staff should have enough common sense not to say "your cats the mean one" with a taunting smile when they messed up by having a dog running round in the room. The Vet did apologize for his staff but he shouldnt have to or hire a more professional staff. Update: Today there was swelling and bruising on his arm where they shaved it to take a small sample of blood. My friend, who was with me, was appalled as well and said she would NEVER take her animals there.

This place is the best! His staff is friendly patient & caring... being new time parents to our fur baby they really help & explain things. As for Dr. John he takes his time and lets you ask all your questions & doesnt rush you. He cares about his patients. Hes affordable as well. If you have an appointment its a $30 fee & if you go in as a walk in theres an additional fee & it may go up to $50-$75? Not too sure, but just call & find out. Saturdays are all walk-ins and it does get busy. The patients that need vaccinations have a less waiting time & will be called in & out, so if youre waiting & wondering why people are being seen before you. Dont worry theyre just getting shots. You will be seen by the vet.

I started taking my Great Danes to Dr. Montalbano because I was told he was the best locally for large breeds. I have never been happier with a vet! Hes knowledgeable, kind, patient and never rushes you out the door (even when theres a full waiting room). When my Dachshund was suffering from muscular degeneration with unknown cause, he tried everything before accepting my decision to put her to rest, and everyone was so kind throughout the process. The staff is friendly and they never forget a face - human or patient. Pricing is also unbeatable!

They dont keep appointments. Called and had my cat scheduled to get seen at 3pm. When I went in, I was told that only one veterinarian was working, that they were gone for lunch and that the wait would be up to an hour. As for the reason why the vet was taking a late lunch, I was told “emergencies and other appointments running late." I understand those could be good reasons, what made me upset was none of the receptionists had the common courtesy to call me and let me know that my appointment would be delayed. I see that as unprofessional.

Drs are knowledgeable and nice. Price is low. Hear local stories about bad experiences. My own cat died day after amputation. Dont know why. It was hit by car so they took the leg off and said be okay. When a stray I brought had heart worms the cashier who handed me the medicine never said "must be refrigerated". If not noticed was cold would have ruined medicine. Dogs heart worms didnt seem to get better and a different vet gave me pills instead of liquid version that were much easier to give. Dog no longer whizzes when excited.

Its okay. Staff is a bit cold mannered. The doc really cares about your pet. The thing is they dont have a lab there which makes diagnostics and blood testing harder. Also, I brought my late kitty here and the vet wasnt able to say what was wrong and sent us home after an antibiotic shot and with a med. The thing is my kitty passed away either way. I changed of vet hospital, and I asked the new vet about my late cats symptoms and he was perfectly able to tell me what it could have been, unlike here.

If I could give it a zero, it would give it a -10. 2 dogs here have already died, both were "fine" but once they were going to get picked up, all of a sudden they take a turn for the worst. The only one that cares is the ACTUAL DOC. Ive seen everyone else be annoyed by the dogs there. One dog and his human had to sit because apparently a dog bleeding bad is not an emergency. Once the doc came in, they all acted as if they LOVE their job. YOU DONT GIVE A DOG THAT HAS A STOKE A SHOT TO CALM IT DOWN!

Ive just had my dog Sox receive a rabies shot, tested for heartworms and started on Trifexis. Everyone who worked with me was professional, friendly, caring, and efficient. I only called this morning and went right in. I was even advised of a $50. rebate on a years supply of Trifexis, which will drop my total vet bill considerably. Two friends recommended this vet, and I can see why! I cant say enough good things about them! Christina Mild in Harlingen

After having the worst experience at Furry Friends Animal Hospital.. I was traumatized! They wanted to charge me $800 to remove lumps on my dog. The nice doctor at the country vet said that was ridiculous!! She said they did not have to be removed but if I chose to do the procedure it would cost $125. They healed my dog from all the damage done by previous vet. The country vet is affordable, great service and honest care for your pet .
