I started bringing two of my dogs to Hill Country Animal Hospital because they sometimes go to the Palms for play care. Herman is pretty scared of everything new and we have had a hard time particularly at the vet. Since he LOVES play care, I thought he would associate the vet with the Palms. Not only was he happy to go there, once we got inside everyone was so kind and understanding. Dr Peterson was so gentle with him and even told me that he wanted to make sure his first visit was a positive one. The vets are great and they are very cognoscente of animal behavior. I now bring all three of my dogs and my cat there. Dr Krik is wonderful. She takes her time, is very knowledgeable and is patient when I ask her questions. When I picked my pit bull up from having some tests run, everyone came out to say goodbye to him because they loved him so much. I really cant say enough about this practice. My pets are all rescues and it is so important to me to give them a great life. Hill Country helps me do that and Im very grateful

Expect to pay A LOT to go to this clinic, but you will receive excellent service from very competent veterinarians. ALL vet clinics will offer you expensive additional tests and services. Why? Because many customers are unaware they exist or like pampering their pet. Just say NO and the offers will end. Screening tests are tests for low-probability (but severe consequence) illness. They are designed to catch all pets with the illness, but often pull in "false-positive" pets. That is what the follow up test is for: to weed out the false-positives. Knowing which test is superfluous versus a follow-up is challenging to the non-medical pet owner. To their credit, these vets will honestly let you know which one is which. Thus my vote below "Excellent": Excellent value but expense reduces the ratio (value / $).

I came in as a paying client on Thursday, August 13, 2015 and was completely shocked at how rude the hospital manager, Lisa, was. When she walked up, I smiled at her and received a very dirty look back from her. I was extremely shocked because she claims to provide the best customer service and completely fell flat on that. Where did her professionalism go? OUT THE WINDOW!! Very rude and condescending womanl. I will not be returning to this hospital, ever, just to avoid seeing this woman and her stank face attitude. Send this lady to the back, she does not need to be dealing with the general public if she has such a hard time controlling her true feelings via facial expressions.

Ive lived all over the country with my cats, and this is definitely one of the best vet clinics Ive been to. I moved to SA last year with a cat who has advanced arthritis, and I wanted to go to a cat friendly clinic where we could discuss and re-evaluate his treatment and pain management. There is a very nice cat-only waiting area with a cat only exam room. Including some nice fuzzy perches! The tech took her time to get mine and my cats information, and the vet was incredibly thorough and answered all my questions. My cat adored them both! Hes moving better and is a happier kitty. Would definitely recommend this clinic.

Hill Country really went above and beyond to ensure my dog had a quality wellness exam. I was given great advice on appropriate vaccinations, and treatments and my vet spent time talking to me and answering questions, I never felt rushed. My dogs comfort was always put first and they even offered to have me check out in the exam room just to make it easier!! Prices were appropriate for services provided. Follow-up phone call re: bloodwork was timely, thorough and friendly! I highly recommend Hill Country for the care of your beloved fur baby!

Well, first of all they gave my dog a new lease on life, recommending a treatment after another vet was ready to put him down. That alone was enough. Well three years later we finally had to put him down, at which the staff was incredibly professional and explained the whole process. A week later they sent a card, which I thought was just going to be a generic "sorry for your loss", but it turned out to be handwritten messages from several of the staff. As long as we live here, hill country is the only place Ill go.

Took my dogs here. Was good for a while, then noticed not only once, but twice the office performed more procedures/ given shots/ or what ever that what we asked for and charged us for it. This ended up with one of my dogs getting a rabies shot twice within 1 week because we tend to get the vaccinations done elsewhere because their prices are higher than others. Before going, make sure you explain exactly what you want and make documentation before having anything done here. Or better yet, go somewhere else.

I took my momma cat, Oreo, to get her post natal check up here about a week ago, I was so impressed by the level of care and knowledge from the vet. Everyone was so sweet and treated Oreo and her kittens so well. Yes, it is a little expensive but, you get what you pay for and it is worth it! The vet was so awesome and sweet and she answered all of my questions with patience. Also, any time I call, they are more than happy to help and answer any questions that I have. This is now our permanent family vet.

Great service , Dr. Perston was a good vet, but....I will not be going back b/c I dont like getting lied to by the staff....The second you walk in the start talking about Trupanion insurance and that it will cover the cost of a routine visit and a dental cleaning. I called Trupanion to get their insurance and discuss the bill and they told me the service that the vet tech explained would not be covered. If it wasnt for the misinformation I would be giving this place a lot more stars

BEST VET WEVE EVER HAD!! We LOVE Hill Country Animal Hospital. They have taken amazing care of our English bulldog, answer all of our questions happily, and never pressure us to do more than is necessary. I never get the sense that they are just trying to make money. I always feel like they legitimately care about our puppy. They remember her name when we come in the door and really go above and beyond to make her comfortable when she is there, regardless of the reason.

Seemed more preoccupied with padding the bill, then anything else. My cat was in for a regular checkup. Everything was ok, per the vet. Nothing out of the ordinary at all, once again according to the vet. Then the Vet suggested a CT scan just to make sure. to supply context, this is a healthy 6 year old cat, only there for a rabies shot. The vet made me sick to my stomach when she suggested this unneeded and unwarranted test.

This is the best vet I have ever been to. I have taken my dogs to many different vets and they are now all coming here after our experience. We had a 9 week puppy that had to get emergency surgery and Hill Country Animal Hospital not only saved his life but took great care of him and gave us the piece of mind that he was in good hands. They were there every time I needed something or called. Thank you Hill Country Animal Hospital.
