My family had the most appalling and disgraceful encounter with Dania Gonzalez, DVM at Banfield in Mesquite on 12/16/16 at 9:30am in the morning. We had an appointment scheduled to euthanize our Yorkie, Oliver, who was 17 years old. Our daughter wanted to be there so we had waited for her to fly home for college. That morning, my husband, daughter and I had mentally prepared ourselves to put him down. The vet, Dania Gonzalez, came in to the office and listened to our dogs vitals and felt him for approximately 30 seconds to a minute and asked what we were doing for his arthritis. Oliver had cataracts and could not see well and his hearing was almost completely gone. For months, he was not able to hold his urine and had started going #2 in the house as well. Over the last week, he was deteriorating to such a state that he simply slept in his urine at night in his bed and would not even bother getting up any more. Dania starting asking us if we had done any testing or put him on medication as that could correct the urinary problems. I again advised that this had been going on for months and that this was not something that just started taking place. He had lived a very good life and he was 17 years old and it was time for him to be put down. Dania advised that she refused to do the euthanasia and she felt more could be done. She did not want to listen to us, even after I advised her that we knew his history and saw him everyday and she had only seen him and evaluated him for less than a minute. Dania flat out refused and said there was more that could be done! I told her that it felt like she was only after more money. Why would you do that to a poor little dog who was 17 years old...start running tests and all sorts of medication? Some families may choose that but that should be up to the family that knows and cares for the animal, not the vet who examines less than a minute and does not listen to the parents. SHAME on you Dania....for refusing to care and sending a family away who were mentally distraught and now had to make other arrangements. I do not hold Banfield at fault but would ask you to consider this vet who represents your name and determine if she is a good fit with how you want yourselves represented. On a positive note, DarylAnn Ladendorff, the manager, called me and expressed deepest sympathy for our situation. I appreciate her listening to what we went through at the hands of Dania and understanding our situation. She was very apologetic and that is truly appreciated. If this is shared with Dania, I do not want any contact with her. She didnt listen the first time and I certainly wont be wasted my breath a second time. If you read this...I would encourage you to select one of their other vets and hopefully you have a better experience if you have to put one of your animals down.

I will never trust this location with the care of my pet. To start- each staff member gives you different information on the same topic when you speak with them, which is highly frustrating. Second, they hire the lowest caliber of people and we are supposed to feel confident that they can adequately care for our pets. I brought my pet in today for a pre-scheduled appointment only to find out it had been canceled by "one of the new girls". The nurse I encountered today was extremely confrontational and entirely unprofessional. Marissa is too young and inexperienced to care for anyones pet- do not leave your pet with her! She berated me in front of others to make me feel like this situation was MY fault. She seemed more interested in arguing with me than caring for animals so I left without leaving my dog. If she is that hostile up front, I can only imagine what she is doing to those poor defenseless pets in the back. I was able to make arrangements for my pet at the Garland location; to me, driving a few extra miles for better service is well worth it. I will never return to the Mesquite Banfield because of their careless and unprofessional attitude toward the care of animals. This location should reconsider their hiring practices if they want to ensure customer satisfaction.

I would give this place zero stars if I could, please please please do not take your fur babies there, this place is so impersonal, it is just a business and all they want is your money. I seriously hate this place is was only out of convenience that I was taking my babies there, but they would always mess up my appointments, making me waste my time, the wait is ridiculous when you do finally get an appointment. And worst of all GOD FORBID that you have a real emergency with your pup/ my baby got bit by another dog, took her there waited nearly an hour to be told that the vet was to busy to see her, but that I could drive to another location (another Banfield). I could go on for days but pretty much this place SUCKS! Do yourself and your babies a favor and find a local vet that isnt just about the money and actually cares and gets to know your pups. Also they didnt want to refund me any of my money, I was aware that the plan would cancel on its on after a year and it didt they automatically renewed it, and I hadnt been using it, but oh lucky me they said they would not charge me anything for canceling it.

Unfortunately, whomever is answering the phones for Banfield Pet Hospital are CLUELESS of the services available to the public. WOW. I have never lost confidence so quick speaking to a representative representing Banfield Pet Hospital. I truly hope Banfield/Doctors placing these untrained persons will address this issue immediately. I can only hope these employees answering the phones are not a reflection of the services being performed on our pets. What a disappointment. I am calling another Pet Hospital in hopes to receive prices and services over the phone and build my confidence to TRUST a pet hospital to care for my pets in a professional manner, both over the phone and/or in person.

Pet had a mass on its leg. Spent almost 3 hours at this appointment. Then to reduce the cost they scammed me into a wellness program $$$. They were so busy they scheduled the mass removal for two weeks. Then when we dropped the dog off on the scheduled day 7:30 am only to pick her up and nothing done. I was called during the day that this may happen due to another issue. Picked the dog up and wanted to reschedule 4 more days later. The time and fees were very pricy to me $,$$$. If you are on a budget be careful. I requested my money back and still have not received it.

Love this place! We rescued a puppy and brought him there and we have been like family since day one. If you tell them you have an immediate concern about your animal they are very prompt to get your pet in immediately to be looked at. And there Wellness Plan cant be beat. It has more than paid for itself in two months time.....Dr. Rogan is the greatest... We had one experience with Dr. Gonzalez and she was terrible not listening talked over us, she ended up giving us a lecture on bully behavior that was uneeded. But Dr. Rogan is the best!!!
