I feel this establishment is misleading and dishonest. I went in for a look at a skin growth. I was charged the normal $50 copay. Dr. Royal advised she wished to remove the growth hat same day and send it for a biopsy so I could "save money and not be charged another copay by coming back another day". It was explicitly stated that when I returned I would only need the stitches removed and there was no charge. I returned later and was immediately told I had to pay a $50 deductible. I explained the last time I was there, they said there was no deductible. A nurse came by and explained to the receptionist shed just take me back. Thinking this misunderstanding was resolved I went back. The nurse removed the stitches, but then explained the doctor would need to see me to discuss "unusual biopsy results." After waiting half an hour the doctor came in and stated the growth was possibly just irritation from scratching (which I had already mentioned during the previous visit) She had no paperwork or lab results for me concerning this. When I went to the reception area they said I need to pay the copay after already having everything done. I told the receptionist that no one told me I would have to pay the copay today, and that the previous visit I was told there would be no charge. "Thats because you saw the doctor." she explained. Well, she wasnt lying. I saw the doctor, and that was about it. I suppose they should start charging clients who catch a glimpse of her from the reception area. I feel this is very dishonest. I was told before hand that there would be no charge, was ushered in after stating I had been told there was no charge with no explanation they were intending to charge me anyway, was "seen" by a doctor who delivered "results" consisting of no paperwork, that could have simply been phoned to me or given on a piece of paper, the nurse did all the procedures, nothing out of the ordinary occurred that the staff couldnt have anticipated during my visit prior and no additional procedures should have been expected nor were they performed, and they asked to have the deductible as I was leaving. I understand a practice has bills to pay but lying and misleading a patient about charges is unacceptable. Ill be coordinating with my insurance company to ensure no fraudulent charges are sent to them or myself and I will be voicing my displeasure to all usual outlets. I hope the $50 was worth it.

I have never left a review on any website (amazon, youtube, google etc.) But Pamela J. Royal, MDs office is NOT conducting a respectable business. This is the worst experience I have ever had with a "Doctors Office." I arrived at 8am. for 9a.m. appointment and left at 10a.m. without seeing a doctor. I spent over an hour verifying my identity and insurance because the receptionist REFUSED TO BELIEVE a young person could possibly have insurance that didnt require a copay. The Royal Dermatology receptionists have ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE skills but luckily a fellow guest was kind enough to offer the use of her phone (they wouldnt) so I could call my employer and verify my insurance. The woman even had the audacity to ask how much was in my HRA account after the Rep confirmed I was eligible.. Incredibly rude/tacky. Thats the "Royal Treatment" they advertise I suppose. After this entire hour long debacle, I was finally admitted to the back to see the doctor.. or so I thought. After waiting in the her office for 10 MORE minutes, the receptionist returns to tell me we have to reschedule for my appointment for a different day. SHE EVEN OFFERED NOT TO CHARGE ME EVEN THOUGH I WASTED ONE OF THE DOCTORS APPOINTMENT SLOTS!!! Thanks, but no thanks for this ROYAL EXPERIENCE!! I shouldnt be penalized because youve Double-Booked appointments 3 months in advance, in the hopes that someone cancels or reschedules. Especially when I was an hour early for my appointment. PLEASE dont do business with these frauds! Just do a quick google search for "HENRICO/RICHMOND/VARINA/YOURCITY DERMATOLOGY" and explore your options guys there are PLENTY. Avoid this "Royal Treatment!" All they want is your $$$$ (copay) and to sell their products to you every month!! Every review over 2 stars is from over 2 years ago. Maybe they were decent at one point, but theyve been in the dumps for a couple of years now (check the reviews, wish i wouldve listened!) STAY AWAY FROM ROYAL DERMATOLOGY STAY AWAY FROM ROYAL DERMATOLOGY STAY AWAY FROM ROYAL DERMATOLOGY STAY AWAY FROM ROYAL DERMATOLOGY STAY AWAY FROM ROYAL DERMATOLOGY STAY AWAY FROM ROYAL DERMATOLOGY Do you really want to risk a similar experience?? P.S. I missed an entire shift at work because of this nonsense. I guess you found away to take money out of my pocket in the end anyway, Congrats! Thanks again for the "Royal Treatment" Pam!!!!

After having three appointments at Royal Dermatology I must say that the office is very pleasant and clean, the staff is patient and courteous and Dr. Royal is clearly a master at the technical aspects of her profession. That being said, what good is all of that if your doctor doesnt have the patience or time for you to voice your concerns? At my last appointment I had serious concerns about the potential long term effects that the medication I was prescribed could have on my health. Upon speaking I was immediately very rudely shut down and verbally chastised just before the doctor could rush out of the room onto the next patient. Dr. Royal seems like the workaholic type that maybe takes more patients in one day than she can allow time for care for. Maybe the fact that Im young made her think that it was okay to walk all over me and that my concerns arent valid? Either way I only had one polite inquiry about my treatment and one seemed to be just too much for Dr. Royal to handle. If youre not really very hands on about your treatment and arent your own advocate when it comes to your health then this is a is a lovely practice and I would recommend. If you want a doctor who has the time to care about you as a patient and who wont verbally smack you for having a voice then I suggest you take your business elsewhere to a lower volume practice.

This was a "royal" waste of my time. I booked my appointment online to see a doctor for a bump that developed next to my eye. Nowhere online did it tell me that the appointments that you book online are online for skin services and that you cant book appointments to see a doctor online. The rude woman who took me back didnt even apologize for my inconvenience and told me that it was due to HIPAA laws, which doesnt even make any sense, since I make numerous doctor appointments online and all they needed to do was save a time slot with my name, not get any personal information. This was not only an inconvenience but the staff wasnt even sorry for it either. Id stay clear of this place if you value your time.

I have had great experiences with Dr. Royal and her staff. The decor in the office is pleasing, the atmosphere is upscale, and the staff is courteous and professional. Dr. Royal is very pleasant, and although she has rooms filled with patients, she doesnt seem rushed and takes the time to answer questions. On my most recent vist, I mentioned some time constraints regarding insurance changes. Dr. Royal stated that one of my presriptions woud require authorization. She called the insurance company and the prescription is now ready....on time! Problem solved!
