Several years ago I returned to the area after living off the grid for even more years. I chose this clinic on a recommendation from a friend when I wanted to take my dog for a physical. I took my dog back another time for teeth cleaning. Both visits were very positive experiences. I had a good impression of the place and liked the care my dog received. A good place to go I thought. When I contacted them in an emergency situation, I identified myself as a returning customer and explained the reason for my call. My dog had an external growth that had been dormant for years. It had aggressively enlarged to a breaking point, and had burst, all in a 24hr period. They were more than willing to see my dog- until I told them I couldnt pay the entire amount on the spot...end of discussion. They wouldnt even recommend anyone that would! I was flabbergasted and upset to say the very least, but I didnt have the time to argue the point, my dog was in trouble and I needed a vet! I found one willing to help me, decided not to patronize this clinic anymore, and moved on.. Until today...when I found out that a friend of mine had been treated in the same manner- in an emergency- just this weekend. They were returning customers.Their dog was in dire straits. They couldnt pay upfront. Too bad....they had to go elsewhere. I dont understand these folks. The compassion I experienced in the beginning ended up feeling completely disingenuous and I certainly got the perception that it was all about the money. I understand that there are plenty of those who will take advantage and the clinic will never see the money or the patient again. However, the vets I have known and trusted in the past NEVER turned anyone away in an emergency. And fortunately for my dog, I found one that day because she would have died from sepsis had I not. NONE of us can predict an emergency, and not all of us have the means to pay upfront in an emergency. But in that emergency, most all pet owners consider the situation just as important for their 4 legged, as their 2 legged, family members. Its unfortunate that a few make it impossible for the rest. However, I do know now that this clinic isnt an option in an emergency- even if I could pay in full

My Pomeranian Cordelia recently had her bladder stones removed here... a systotomy (sp?), I believe its called. Most places around town charge $1,600-2,800 for this procedure {incidentally, the emergency vet on Stone Way 2 years back charged us the latter MASSIVE amount, but thats another matter... and they arent great or even good}, BUT: back to the resplendent Aurora Vet Hospital: they did the surgery for $1,000, exactly what they quoted us, no weird charges or extra fees. They rule: they checked her in, examined her X-Rays, got us in quick for the surgery (within 2 days), completed the surgery, helped us trouble shoot her chronic U.T.I.s, and really, really, really cared about Cordelias health. They were incredible, from the surgeon to the receptionist to every body in the dern building! Theres no B.S. here, just caring people who get the job done and really treat their clients like, well, family.... and theyre not even our full time vet, they didnt know us from Adam! I highly, HIGHLY recommend the Aurora Vet Hostpital. In fact, I love them all and will extol their virtues/sing their praises til the day I die! :) ...And so will Cordelia (but she will howl, not sing), she feels so much better now. Sincerely, John Roger Schofield

We took our two dogs and one cat to Aurora for a period of around a year. All had full exams, and at the time we liked the Vet quite a bit (friendly, seemed to know their stuff, etc.). During a visit with one of our dogs I asked about his teeth, specifically one particular molar (it was green). We were told it was fine, his teeth looked good, he was doing great, and there was no need for a cleaning. This was about 1.5 years ago, and since then we have moved. At this VERY MOMENT my dog is at a new vet, getting not one, not two, but FOUR teeth pulled because we trusted Aurora when they told us his teeth were fine; but instead, over the past 1.5 years, his teeth cracked and rotted to the point where they must be removed. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE. Like I said, they may seem friendly and knowledgeable at the time, but the obviously do not have the long term health of your pet in mind.

Dr. Bernstein has been our vet for 2 years now (and was recommended to us by some of our friendswho also had great experiences). He has always been extremely helpful to us, and clearly has our dogs best interests at heart. Recently, our young dog had an issue requiring a relatively unique sort of surgery, and Dr. Bernstein was our first point of contact. He performed additional research for us to make sure his recommendations reflected the best advice, went out of his way to be available to us while we were trying to determine how best to proceed, and clearly put our dogs health over any other priority. He was also very candid about what was truly necessary vs. luxury when it came to cost and approach. We ultimately went to a specialist, but Dr. Bernstein will always be our primary vet and first point of contact based on this and other excellent experiences.

Well... after writing a rather annoyed review several months ago, Im retracting it and writing a very appreciative review. Today I had to bring my cat in for an actual health emergency, breathing problems. They were extremely gracious about the immediacy, and despite being booked they allowed me to bring my cat in during the lunch hour to be checked out. The vet was very patient with me, explained what she thought was going on, called up the animal hospital I took him to last time this happened to get the records, and then discussed what she felt was the best approach to handle the issue. Dr Smith was very patient with me, despite my previous review, and they have helped me keep my cat healthy while also saving me more than $1600, which was the cost of the visit to the animal hospital last time around.

As someone who works in the veterinary field, I have high standards for all types of veterinary care, especially general. My kitty, Clovis, is definitely a handful when on the spot for examination, vaccines, and blood/urine draws. This was my first visit to Aurora VH and I am more 100% than pleased with our experience! Dr. Bernstein was respectful of my kittys personality and boundaries and took it as slow as he needed. Clovis was apparently well behaved for his sample draws, which is a testament to the technicians as well as the doctor. I could not be happier with the way the exam went! I highly recommend this clinic for your pets general healthcare. I am certain I have finally found Clovis furever regular veterinarian - at least while we live in Seattle. Thank you Aurora VH!

I never write reviews. Ever. We have been going to this place for the past 8 years and have always been very happy with them. We no longer live on the north side and travel from the south side/central district to take my pets to this clinic. We just had to put our 13 year old dog down a couple of months ago. Dr. Bernstein took almost daily phone calls from me for a week, came into the parking lot and administered the sedative in the car so that our dog wouldnt be scared, and sent me a card afterwards to express condolences from the clinic. Prior to this experience my husband was encouraging me to find a vet closer to our house; afterwards he told me hed drive our new dog there himself. Love these guys.
