Dr. Merchant is the stuff of childrens nightmares. Notice the time of this review? Yes, my child still has nightmares. Its been 3 months. She went in on Feb. 20, 2015. Its April 16, 2015. She was restraining my child and it was just awful. So, I had to stop the appointment. She continued to press on. Again, we tried. My child was petrified. She crying so hard, she dry heaved and and made that retching sound. She almost threw up; as she tends to do when shes exceedingly upset. I just thought she was afraid of the experience. Now I know its just Dr. Merchants bedside manner. Im sure shes a nice person to go have coffee with but shes just terrible at administering dentistry with our child due to poor and inpatient bedside manner. Oh and did I mention the hard sell on fluoride? As I said, Id stopped the appointment and Dr. Merchant pushed on about how my child needed flouride. Now, please remember that my child is screaming at the top of her lungs, tears streaming down her face, shes covering her mouth out of fear because shes already been restrained once, body shaking. So, Im holding her while shes in this frenzied state trying to calm her down and Dr. Merchant is yelling OVER HER about how we need to give her fluoride. She was unyielding. I yielded. I felt bullied into it and gave in and attempted to have her give it to my child in the middle of her meltdown while we pinned her down. Again. The only thing missing for my little girl was a straight jacket and leg restraints so that Dr. Merchant could charge my dental insurance for fluoride for getting it on one tooth. Nicely done. I couldnt do it. I had to stop the appointment again. Will not go back. On the hunt for a Patch Adams type. Suggestions anyone?

We have had excellent care from Seattle Kids Dentistry and especially Dr. Merchant over the years. My son has been going to SKD for three years and my one year old daughter just had her first appointment last week. Everyone at SKD, from the receptionist to the hygienist to Dr. Merchant, is great with kids. Patient, caring, and a little bit silly - everything you could hope for your kids dentist. My son is three and a half now and at his last appointment he was nervous about the reclining chair (didnt phase him at age two but for some reason this time it just wasnt going to happen). No problem. The hygienist and Dr. Merchant were able to clean and examine his teeth while he sat upright in a chair. My son was happy and his teeth were properly cleaned and inspected so I was happy too. Best part for my son is the movie screens above the exam chairs plus stickers and tokens for the toy machines at the end of every appointment. When we talk about the dentist now its like "Ooh, you get to go to the dentist today!" And hes totally into it. Awesome.

Despite the fact that my dear preschooler always has a meltdown as soon as we walk into the exam room (we talk about what to expect, role play and watch videos about going to the dentist but something snaps him into a screaming primal fear) every single staff member is AMAZINGLY CALM and very respectful. I am consistently delighted by their graciousness!

Today was my sons first appointment at SKD and we are SO EXCITED to have found such an awesome spot! We have been to other pediatric dentists before and he has always left kind of freaked out or uncomfortable and today he had such a great experience! Our family couldnt be happier with SKD. Dr. Merchant spends time to teach kids how to take care of their teeth for the long run. We highly recommend them!

It was one of those mornings, running late, lots of traffic, but the office did their best to accommodate us. The hygenists Kim and Jola were superb and put the kids right at ease. Dr. Merchant was wonderful as well and did a ton of education with us. I am so happy to have my kids at Seattle Kids Dentistry! Thank you all!

Theyre GREAT with my 5-year-old. She just successfully got 2 cavities filled, which I could never have fathomed, given how cooperative she usually is at the dentist/doctor. They talked to her the whole time in a way she could understand and appreciate, gave her a heads up about what was coming next, etc.

Dr Merchant and her team were great! This was my 20 month old daughters first appointment and they did a wonderful job of making her feel at ease. I really appreciate that they let her sit in my lap rather than on a chair. They also had lots of toys and cartoons playing. We will definitely be going back.

Ive been bringing my daughter here since before her 1st birthday. She is now 5 and LOVES coming to the dentist. This is the best kids dentist office. Its beautifully designed and made fro kids. There is nothing scary here. The staff is always super friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend this office.

Just awesome. My daughter loved it here. The staff is excellent and they know just what to do to get my 2 year old to sit still for the entire appointment. Doesnt hurt that they have a TV on the ceiling. My 2 year old just sat there like a zombie while they cleaned and polished her teeth. Amazing.

Highly recommend Seattle kids dentistry. Super kid friendly (movies on the ceiling so kids can be distracted while they get their teeth cleaned) and extremely patient staff. They made the experience exciting and fun. Incredibly thankful to them for giving my children a positive dentist experience.

These folks always do a great job with my littles. They are quick (bonus) and they let the kids touch the equipment to lessen the stress. Also, they have a bunch of movies to pick from for kids to watch while their teeth get brushed. Very friendly and very efficient front desk help to boot!
