The first time I went, folks were polite and the vet was helpful and engaged. The second time, different vet, much colder, seemed to care less. The third time I called in when my dog was seriously ill. All they had to offer was "drop off" service the following day, where I could leave my pet there in the morning and MAYBE by the end of the day they would be able to look at her. No other help, suggestions, questions...just like I was putting them out by having a sick dog. Called another vet, who was very helpful and recommended another hospital. My dog was immediately hospitalized with a high fever along w/ her other symptoms, and was sick enough to need to stay there for a few days. God knows what would have happened if I just "dropped my dog off" for them to look at when they got around to it. Me and the pup will never be returning, and I would suggest that no one else go there either.

My cat recently fell ill and Mary was kind enough to look him over, examine him, and explained it all to me. I ended up leaving feeling relief my cat should be alright and with a smaller bill than I expected. Two days later out of concern he still wasnt eating my friend took my cat in to get something to stimulate his appetite. Instead the doc starts pressuring and insisting a x-ray and injects a drug I did some research on that he may not actually need. This drug also has a side effect of vomiting, lethargy, and suppressed appetite. We sent him there to stimulate his appetite, not suppress it! Next day they call asking when Im bringing him in for the x-ray and surgery which costs over $400 for the x-ray alone. After talking with the doctor some of her choices made sense but I still got the impression they cared more for money than anything else.

I have been taking my cats to the Family Pet for over 10 years. Recently my beloved tabby Glenn developed a cancerous tumor and had to be euthanized. The vet (Mary Kay Hilmoe) and staff at the Family Pet were so kind and sensitive. Everything possible was done to make us comfortable and to let him go without any alarm or pain. The vet gave me a much-needed hug afterwards and followed up with a hand-written sympathy note a few days later. After a week had passed, I also received in the mail a small plaster-of-paris disc bearing the imprint of my sweet kittys paw. The compassionate care that my cats (and I!) receive at the Family Pet really sets them apart. As long as I have animals in my life, they will be cared for at the Family Pet.

Ive been a client of The Family Pet for twenty years, they have seen me and my furry family members through sickness and health, births and deaths with nothing less than kindness and empathy. I recently adopted three feral kittens that required bottle feeding. This is my first experience raising kittens and the staff at the Family Pet have been amazingly supportive and helpful. They dont make me feel stupid when I call in with questions or concerns that turn out to be perfectly normal, and made the shots / spay / microchip process practically painless! I am so thankful for vets that genuinely love my pets and put up with me!

I have an extremely senior cat that doesnt travel well so I was looking for a vet closer to home. I was very specific about what her medical requirements were and The Family Vet gave me a quote for the visit that seemed reasonable so I made the appointment. Half an hour into the visit I was handed an estimate that was more than double what I had been quoted on the phone. Rather than try to make anything right the vet sent the receptionist in to apologize while she hid in her office. Way to throw your own employees under the bus and way to do business. I would give zero stars if it was an option.

I have had many different vets over the years, this clinic is the best. They offer kind, competent and very sensible care. Suffering is never redemptive in an animal and they make the hard choice of ending a sick pets life much easier. They also do a great job of helping me keep my 2 young dogs health, even going so far as to research the calorie count of the dog food I feed my chubby little dog! A great place with great people in a great location. They also offer non anesthetic teeth cleaning, altho my chubby little dog never needs it as she is always chewing on something.

I had been taking my dog to Ballard Animal Hospital and was disappointed with the bedside manner and medical advice. Tried going here and was very impressed. The nurses are friendly and helpful, the environment is very cozy for humans and comforting for animals, and their bedside manner is amazing. I know it might not matter but they actually talked to my dog and he loved it. I plan on taking my dog here for the foreseeable future even though I live right next to my old vet. Love this vet clinic!

The Vet seemed cold and not compassionate. I had just adopted my dog a week before and he was understandably upset being in the Vets office. He was reactive and snappy. The Vet made it seem like it was somehow my fault. Again, I had only had this dog for a week. I didnt know its habits or the best way to calm him. Overall, they seemed cold and disinterested in providing thorough care or to help answer my questions.

We have taken our two cats and puppy to Family Pet for over 4 years now. They have been absolutely wonderful every time. They offer lots of different services and have always been good about explaining the treatment recommended. They genuinely care about our animals and when we leave the little one for a weekend boarding, they always take great care of him. We could not be happier with them!

Ive been bringing my dog here for around 5 years and have always had excellent service. The last visit, a few weeks ago, was another example of this - the vets examination was, to my dog, indistinguishable from being petted, when in reality she was checking his ears, feeling his weight, etc. They also called to follow up on how his tummy rash was healing. Great vet.

We have always received excellent care for our dog and cat at the Family Pet. Our beloved cat of almost 18 years died last month and we received a beautiful and sweet card from the vet. It was above and beyond and meant a lot.
