More than 2 years later, after I am no longer a client, I receive an email to write this review, and still emails regarding information irrelevant to me. I had a rather poor experience here when compared to other vet practices. The desk and tech staff were very nice to me. Everyone was pleasant and in fact did seem like well trained and knowledgeable people. So I will say your pets are in good hands here. My gripe is this: I had a 7 month old puppy, the vet I saw asked me if I was a new pet owner, or a long time dog owner. When I answered new, immediately she started trying to sell me immunizations (beyond basic puppy vaccs which I already had), health plans, food, and other necessities to ensure my dog grew up right. My puppy is a mut and has a nonconforming underbite, and she wanted to sell me surgery to correct this! She even suggested orthodontics to correct a crooked incisor and baby teeth extraction (the most reasonable of all the things brought up). The cost of this: a whopping $5000 and likely ongoing treatment for the orthodontics. Then when I declined she dramatically explained without these procedures my dog may never live a normal life, and may never be able to eat correctly (note, nothing else was wrong with my dogs bite and her teeth met fine otherwise). I never complain about the cost of a vet visit because I know that I pay for the quality care of my babies - that is invaluable to me - and are already underappreciated. But hocking completely unnecessary surgery that also puts my dog in discomfort, and at risk simply because there is the opportunity to sell me an expensive procedure is irresponsible, at best, and in my opinion incredibly shady and in violation of the license they so proudly display on their wall. Of course there are many raving reviews here and I am sure I had the one bad experience out of a dozen other good ones. But that one incredibly bad and sleazy experience has left me without the desire to ever patron this business ever again. Thanks for reminding me to leave this review!

Stay away from this place!! I took my kittens in for their routine vaccinations and one week later they were vomiting and having diarrhea. After spending over $500 dollars on exams, tests, ineffective medications, and "special" food for our sick kittens, the vet failed to make a very obvious diagnosis. So while my kittens continued to get sicker, my concern and frustration led me to the internet where I was able to gather the needed information to make the diagnosis and give my kittens the treatment they needed myself. They had one of the most common parasites for kittens, tape worms. DUH! Believe it or not, it gets worse. Since they are indoor cats, their only exposure to such parasites was in the vets office. Ironic, huh? And theres more: the office repeatedly failed to return my calls despite their promises, closed early, miss-documented test results, failed to call me back with test results, confused the records of my two kitties, and charged us $30 extra to see our sick kitties because they were "booked" for two weeks in a row. Needless to say, we are looking for a different vet and I urge you to do the same.

My dog had slipped and fallen down our stairs one night and tweeked out his back very badly. I had originally taken him to VCA Magnolia who insisted there was something else wrong and after spending $500 at the ER and $1000 at VCA within 48 hours, I had no more money. I contacted Sunset Hill one evening and indicated that my dog is in need of help and I am broke. They called me first thing in the morning and set up an appointment to look at him. I was only charged $40, which was basically covering the meds they gave me. They were so nice and considerate and have been ever since. Ive been going there for at least 3 years now. They always are smiling and welcoming and they get on the floor to play with your pet. We also have 3 cats and all of our pets go to Sunset Hill. I couldnt ask for a better place to take our pets!

We have been taking our cat Pinot to Sunset Hill Vet and Rehab for over 10 years now. The first time was when we adopted him from a local shelter. He was covered in fleas, had 2 different types of worms and had a nasty upper respiratory infection. The care Pinot received was exemplary and with such a gentle touch! He was back to health in no time. Over the years we have had great care from Dr. Lamb, Dr. Smith and Dr. Salt, who are all still part of the care team. The support staff are all wonderful and many of them have been there for years. I highly recommend Sunset Hill Vet and Rehabilitation for the care of your furry family members.

We have been very happy with everyone we have encountered at Sunset Hills Vet for both our dog and cat. We came here from another vet who was intimidated by my dog. The Sunset Hills assistants had us bring him in for a few "happy" visits just to play with him and tickle his tummy. He weighs 145 pounds and loves to have his tummy scratched. This did the trick! He now enjoys going to the vet and even though he has had several indignities thrust upon him, he still eagerly approaches everyone there. They all, obviously, love animals; and the care they give from the receptionists to the doctors is exceptional!

We have a cat with a...unique health history. Sunset is the first place weve gone that helped us get to the bottom of the mystery and find out how to make our kitty healthy and happy again. Techs treat our cat with patience and care--frankly, we are fairly convinced that she thinks her surgery days are really spa days. The vets are very committed to explaining options for treatment and starting with lower cost choices first--but they also wont compromise care and will be straight with you when you just have to bite the bullet and get moving. Ive referred every pet lover I know here. Theyre a local gem!

My Bichon Frise, Cicero, has been receiving veterinary services at Sunset Hill since 2005. Prior to having Dr. Lamb and all her associates care for Cicero, he had been deathly ill with what was assumed to be an auto-immune disorder. Cicero has been in excellent health ever since. Now that Cicero is 15, he is getting the very best care for his arthritis and high blood pressure. Both Cicero and I are very grateful to the entire staff for giving us the very best care! Over the years I have observed the kind, knowledgeable care all the pets receive. I cannot recommend Sunset Hill highly enough!

My cat Gus burned his paws twice before learning not to jump on the wood stove. Sunset Hills care of him through each time was exceptional and they have been my vet of choice ever since. I always feel comfortable and confident in the service they provide whether that is just a routine check up or something more serious. Ill keep coming back here unless an emergency makes me visit somewhere closer to home. I highly recommend Sunset Hill for anyone that wants great care for their pets.

I have been taking my animals to Sunset Hill for many years. They referred me to great oncologist when my kitty had cancer, walked me through the pain of advanced kidney disease with my 2nd kitty, shortly after losing the first. They have helped me with new adoptees who had a myriad of issues that come up with the unknown and have shown so much live to my critters and me. I have now had 7 animals in their care, 5 cats and two dogs. I trust them with my fur family.
