I would advise everyone against bringing their pets here. To make a very long story short: I spent close to $600 in three months alone this past summer, only to finally take my cat elsewhere for a second opinion. What I found out at the new doctor was that he didnt need all of the medications that Vestal prescribed to him. What he needed was a dietary change. Since taking him to a new vet, Ive weaned him off of a steroid (prednisolone) that the new vet said he didnt need after taking a look at his medical history and lab results from VVH, and I changed his diet as they advised me. Now he is doing much better and acting like a young, healthy cat again, even though hes 10 years old. Because of Vestal Veterinary Hospital, I drugged up my poor cat for no reason. The new vet said that she would never have put him on a steroid. She would begin with dietary changes and then go from there to see if he needs medication. This is the way it really should be. Also, one time when my cat was getting a urinalysis at Vestal, the technician brought me back my cat in his carrier. When I got home and took him out, I smelled a very strong chemical scent and saw that his entire leg was covered in some type of chemical. I called the vet and they told me its probably alcohol. Whatever it was, they made absolutely no attempt to even clean my cat before giving him to me to take home. What did I pay these people $600 for? Apparently just to prescribe my cat a lot of meds he didnt need and bring him in for unnecessary appointments. The new place I take him to is much better. I am able to speak to an actual doctor, which I wasnt able to do at VVH despite how much money I spent. It was always the technician who would speak to me, and I had to come in one day and basically beg the receptionist to speak to a doctor, so a doctor one day finally did call me on the phone, but it was only after much pestering. To be fair, the doctor who finally did call me seemed quite professional and concerned, but it really shouldnt have taken that many phone calls and begging to finally be able to speak to a doctor. But the new doctor prescribed yet even more meds, which my cat didnt need. With the amount of money that I spent, I should have been able to speak to a doctor during my cats appointments. At the new hospital I take my cat to, the doctor stayed with me during my cats entire appointment and answered any and all of my questions. The doctor herself called a week after his appointment to check up on my cat. This is clearly a hospital that actually cares about the animals well-being, unlike VVH. I am convinced from the way VVH has treated my cat and me that they are in it for the money. Now my cat is off of meds and perfectly fine. Do yourselves a favor and do NOT bring your pets here. Until VVH shows that the animals welfare is priority, not money, I would find somewhere else to go.

My dog had a bad accident, having been punctured by a stick. Shes never been to Vestal Vet Hospital, as we are only in the area temporarily. This hospital was amazing, having provided exceptional service and care to her! Dr. Baker cared for her wound, which was rather extensive, requiring internal sutures and a drain. There was serious risk of infection in the two weeks it took for her to heal. Dr. Baker went above and beyond her call of duty, having us return multiple times to check her and make sure things were okay. She was knowledgeable and compassionate, being one of the most competent vets Id ever been introduced to. Ive had lots of pets in my lifetime, so weve been around! I felt quite confident in Dr. Bakers abilities, in addition to, all the vet technicians who helped us during each visit. Very friendly and concerned staff. Also, love that they have emergency care on weekends. I dont know what we would have done without them. Thank you!!

My French bull dog Paisley was pregnant, the vet I normally go to said that she would be able to give Natural birth instead of a C-Section, well I noticed their was a puppy stuck in her birth canal so I rushed her to Vestal( Our vet was closed). They ran tests on Paisley even though you can see the puppy stuck, and they refused to do a C-Section without all the tests that took 3+ hours to do. In the end my Paisley ended up loosing all her puppys, I was at our normal vet Monday and they said they were all healthy than I take them to Vestal and loose all of them. I would not recommend going here for emergency care.

My 84,yr old mother on a fixed income took her dog there bc he wasnt eating or drinking anything for a week and she was very worried bc its just her and him together for yrs what a mistake!, charged her 1000$, for the visit and 5 prescriptions, now putting off paying bills for a month now thats simply not right! And hes not responding to the meds, its bullshit, taking advantage like that, the dog died soon after and charging a lonely old woman 1000$, they should be ashamed of themselves and look forward to a very unfriendly visit from me

I would definitely recommend this vet office everyone was so nice and personable. The vet Dr Durham was great went through all of the options for our beloved dog with us and Answered any questions we had. Taniya the assist was very nice as well. They made sure we were comfortable and ready before they proceeded with anything and let us take as much much time as we needed no rushing at all. Although were sad we had to let our dog go we know we did what was right and best for him and are happy we took him here.

I had been taking my rabbit to a clinic closer to my home. (I also highly recommend that clinic, but this is not a review for them.) After our aged rabbit had to be euthanized, we got two babies. The other clinic didnt spay/neuter rabbits, so we went to Vestal Veterinary Hospital. They did a great job! My boys have healed nicely and are back to being their obnoxious little toddlery selves. Since this place knows our boys, well definitely be going there for all their medical needs.
