In September of 2014, our toy poodle hurt himself when he was only 7 months old. We were not sure where to go, but we did know that Specialized Veterinary Services had opened near us. We took our precious baby in there because we really had no idea what had happened. He had seriously injured himself by jumping and falling on his hind leg. For everything that he went through, including 3 to 4 visits a week on the underwater treadmill after surgery, we thought the total bill was very reasonable. More importantly, everyone was excellent with our precious baby. They were compassionate and caring, and the surgeon and staff were all outstanding. Last night, New Years Eve, December 31st. 2016, our little guy once again hurt his leg. We were scared, as he could barely walk. I called Specialized Veterinary Services and the friendly and caring receptionist told me to bring him right up. My son and I brought our dog up around 7pm or so. Once gain, everyone could not have been more friendly, and all seemed to genuinely care. From the check in process by a very friendly and caring receptionist, to all the other staff we saw last night, we knew we made the right decision once again. The doctor that saw our poodle took the time to explain everything to us, and told us the best- case to almost worst-case scenario. He was very detailed and articulate, as well as being extremely knowledgeable in his field. While we were waiting for discharge papers, they had a critical emergency come in. Even though that is a top priority, three different staff members apologized for us having to wait and explained what had occurred. From when I left home until I got back home, it had not even been two hours. The emergency visit, which included a comprehensive exam, as well as the medicine, turned out to be much cheaper than I expected. Our poodle is doing much better today, as we have already seen a huge improvement. Like many of us, our animals are our family. We love them and they return the love to us. It is nice to know that Specialized Veterinary Services are not only open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, but they have an experienced, dedicated and professional team ready to take care of our pets when that emergency arises. Yes, this is a legitimate post and I get nothing for writing this outstanding review. I took the time to write it because there has to be other animal owners out there wondering what to do when their loved one gets injured or seriously ill. All of us should have a regular veterinary that we take our animals to. But when the unexpected emergency occurs, we have to be prepared. We all know these kind of things happen on a holiday or in the middle of the night, when most everywhere is closed. Thank you Specialized Veterinary Services for being there when we needed you.....both times!!

This is difficult for me to write. First off I want to say, the staff was very nice at SVS. The ER vet we saw, was nice and was to the point and told us what we needed to know about our Ruby, to a point. Her prognosis was not good. Ruby is an almost, 11 year old Boxer, with cancer. I brought her to SVS because I knew something wasnt right. She has a mass behind her bladder and was bleeding into her belly. We were told we should put her down that night or tomorrow, but it should be within 2 days. We were devastated. We all took the next day off to spend the day and say our goodbyes. The problem was, when I woke up, Ruby was bouncing around the house, pouncing around the yard, chasing lizards and still eating normally. How was I going to put my happy baby down? I called my veterinarian, talked with her, she received Rubys records from SVS, went over everything again with me, we decided to see a specialist that deals with this kind of issue as The veterinarian we saw, is an ER vet. I had no firm diagnosis...I really had no diagnosis at all! We went the next day and let me tell you, Rubys diagnosis and prognosis is not good BUT...we have at least 2 months left with her. She has cancer, we know. We were blindsided by needing to put her down either that night, or the next day. Now, we have time to accept this and we, as a family, can now prepare. She is not suffering and she is in no pain. Shes still bouncing around the yard, chasing lizards, eating, licking us like crazy and going on car rides. I am doing what I can to keep her as calm as possible as her heart rate is slightly elevated but, at the moment, she is happy. Shes getting healthy, home cooked meals twice a day and an herbal supplement from the specialist. Ruby is, at this moment, happy and content. Shell tell us, well know, but for now, we are enjoying, every single minute we have left with her. SVS: please, please dont recommend euthanasia without a diagnosis. Whether there is an alternative treatment or not, please at least recommend to your patients humans, to see a specialist in the field of what you, "think" the diagnosis may be. Give your patients humans some type of peace of mind, give them some type of option at least. Id much rather be enjoying the time I have left with my Ruby, than mourning her, not yet necessary, death. Thanks for letting me share, "Rubys" mom and "Rubys" boys, Anthony and Nicholas.

If we could give SVS 10 stars or even more we would!!! My husband Loren and I are the proud parents of two adorable Yorkies, Sammy who is 12 years old and Kimmie who is 3 years old. When it comes to 24 hour emergency veterinary services and/or specialized veterinary services (Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Surgery, Animal Rehabilitation) we wouldnt think of trusting their well being and care to any one other than SVS. We continue to be delighted with the extraordinary care and compassion we have come to expect from your facility. The ENTIRE staff is gifted and seems specially selected to provide the best possible experience for all. We have come to know almost everyone at SVS and we can honestly say that it is because of each of you talented, amazing guardian angels that our little boy Sammy is still with us today. Wed like to thank you Dr. Jennifer Messinger, DVM, DACVIM, Chelsea Camiolo, CVT, Internal Medicine Technician and Kirsten Guerrero, Internal Medicine Technician, and ALL of the staff for your kindness, professionalism and your dedication to your job, your patients, and clients. Wed especially like to thank you for your continued care of Sammy, and for always being there when we really needed you. We cant thank you enough for all of the tender loving care you have given and continue to give to Sammy (and his worried parents for that matter)! I have nothing but great things to say about SVS, I recommend them to everyone I know looking for a 24/7 emergency veterinary service. Prices are up front and they explain everything for you. Sure, their prices might be A LITTLE more expensive than the regular veterinarian, but they are a 24/7 emergency/specialized veterinary service with A LOT of state of the art medical equipment available to them, this is not a free service! That being said, they are VERY fair and understanding about prices and were helpful in trying to provide us with a low option and a high option quote, so that we were well aware with what we were facing. Our Sammy and Kimmie mean the world to us and are worth every penny spent to save their lives! Specialized Veterinary Services, Fort Myers, FL - great service, great staff, and we are so happy to have them in town. Sincerely, Angela & Loren Rosenthal (Sammy & Kimmies parents) xoxo
