My parents have been taking our dogs and cats to Hayden Pet Medical Center for over 20 years, so it was only natural that, after I started a family of my own and Susannah (our cat) came into our life, wed choose Dr. Bodkin and his staff for her care. When we first brought our cat in for a check-up, we were assigned to Dr. John Cook, and immediately took comfort in his professionalism and easy bedside manner. Dr. Cook has been a tremendous resource, in everything from dietary recommendations to behavior issues to basic preventative care. I always feel like Im getting much more for my money in Dr. Cooks office, as he is a ready source of supplemental information, and is perfectly willing to stay and chat with us until we feel were well-informed of our pets needs. In contrast to the other reviewer, I feel that Dr. Cook goes above and beyond in rendering care to our pet. When discussing treatment options, Dr. Cook was perfectly willing to create cost estimates, and seemed genuinely concerned with only performing the care that was absolutely necessary for our pet. I never felt pressured to purchase additional services, and never felt like I was being gouged or charged additional fees for basic services. Pricing is tremendously reasonable, perhaps even undervalued, given the high standard of care. In addition, the facility at Hayden Pet Medical Center is gorgeous: immaculately clean, spacious, well-lit, and comfortable. Support staff is friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and prompt. Appointment times are readily available, so I never feel like I have to wait to see a vet, and appointments have always seemed to be available within our familys schedule. It may sound strange, but it almost seems like our cat enjoys going to the vet: she cries from the moment we get in the car until were in the lobby, but once were inside, shes quiet and friendly (it may be the sound of the birds boarded upstairs). Weve never boarded at Hayden Pet Medical Center, but will definitely be doing so during our summer vacation. Im compelled to write, because a single, negative review for this vet is unfair. Weve been nothing but satisfied with our veterinary care at Hayden Pet Medical Center, and will continue to utilize their services as long as we live in the area. Susannah is an important part of our family, and I cant imagine finding her better, more reasonable, more honest, and more compassionate care than with Dr. Cook.

You have groomed and taken care of my dogs medically for many years. I think I have spent close to $8,000 over the years. Recently I have decided to seek veterinarian assistance from anybody but you. When I asked doc cook to split some pills by your staff for my small dogs, doc cook refused. I asked “why not”? He said “Because if I do it for you ill have to do it for everybody”. I said, “so what, this is called customer service”. He refused. I am now at a veterinarian that has no problem splitting pills, they do it all the time for small dogs, and gladly split the pills I purchased from your clinic. There was another time after my dog rascal (then a puppy), had surgery I needed to change his bandage after a few days. I asked doc cook for a 12 inch length of tape, which was in his hand at the time, so I would not have to go out and purchase 10 feet of tape. So, after spending over $1,000 for surgery I was refused 12 inches of tape. How sad for you guys. You lost a loyal client who will tell all that will listen, my experience with trying to get some small pills split for my dogs and doc cooks refusal. I don’t know if this cheapness flows from the top down, or it is cooks personal cheap attitude. Whatever the case it surely needs improvement. You don’t need to try and mitigate this with me as I will never visit your facility again. In parting; I say to cook “when people are shopping at Albertsons and clients ask for help with their groceries, they do not say “sorry if I do that for you I have to do it for everybody”. What a sick stupid arrogant attitude. Bye!!! Thanks for the memories.

I happened to be looking up Hayden Pet Medical Centers phone number today and I decided to read the reviews. I regret not having written a review sooner but I feel that I need to say our pets have always had excellent care there. We had a Boxer named Ben that had extensive dental work done, through their procedure he was able to gain weight again and eat normally. They helped us with his diet as he was sensitive to different foods. I always trusted their yearly check ups and advice. When he reached nine years of age and was becoming arthritic they recommended some Rimadyl that put the spring back into our Boxer. I left him there many times to be boarded and always picked up a happy healthy dog. I guess the one thing I particularly loved was whenever I took him there he always acted like he was visiting his best buddies. Unfortunately we lost our beloved Boxer, "Ben" a few years ago, he had an aneurysm burst on a Sunday evening. We took him to the emergency clinic, recommended by them and had only the best of treatment in a difficult situation. He was gone within a few hours. As you can imagine we were devastated. Dr Cook went and picked up our "Ben" for us the next morning at the emergency clinic and took him for us to be cremated. I am forever grateful for that act of kindness. My mom now takes her little Westie "Duffy" there. He has always had the same excellent care. I wouldnt hesitate to use Hayden Pet Medical Center and I do recommend them highly.

DO NOT GO TO THIS VET! Dr. Bodkin is a typical doctor who thinks he knows everything. Took my doberman there to get his ears cropped a couple months ago. He was very nice, until I had paid the bill. It was all down hill from there. I am sure much of his rudeness and pompous attitude stemmed from the fact that he knew I would not be seeking additional vet services, since I lived an hour and a half away. He actually did a very good job on the surgical procedure, but had no idea what he was doing after that. He filled my dogs ears full of glue and ignored the infection that developed do to his ridiculous method of posting my dogs ears. When one ear started to heal wrong, he told me to ignore it and it would not cause a problem. Well, my dogs ear now has a permanent hook where there should be a point. I later learned, from a doberman breeder of thirty years, the top stitches should have been taken out well before the bottom ones. The worst part of the whole situation was how rude he was when spewing his inaccurate knowledge about posting cropped ears. Horrible bedside manner and detestable person.

This clinic is the BEST. To the negative poster below....when you wrap them yourself, chances are they wont heal properly, especially when you dont have a clue as to what you are doing. Spending this kind of money on your pet should have made it that much more important to properly re-dress his/her ears. If you live so far away you should have made it a point to take him to another vet for the maintenance. We had Dr. Bodkin re-wrap our red dobies ears each and EVERY time and had absolutely NO PROBLEMS at all and had no problems with the stitching or had any infections (we didnt mess with them either). He is very up front and honest about everything when it comes to animals health and proper care that is needed. I hope your negative experience doesnt cloud anyone elses judgments because of poor decision making skills on someone elses part...other than Hayden Pet Meds! Profile pic is our red Shamus! Thanks for all your staff does at Hayden Pet Medical.
