I had two wisdom teeth extracted three weeks ago and have had the worse experience in my life. When I went in for the initial consultation I was treated poorly by the receptionist, Andrea at the Merle Hay location because they messed up where the appointment was supposed to be at. Then, I get back there and quite frankly felt like all they wanted to do was sell me something. I didnt feel like they wanted to help me with my teeth, I just felt like they wanted my money. I get back to the Office Manager, Jessica and she gives me a great deal and I am ready to have my teeth pulled. I come back on Wednesday for my appointment and when I go back, the oral surgeon is eating his lunch and I am forced to wait while he finishes. When he gets done, he looks at the x-rays and tells me one tooth is impacted and I should get both of the bottoms out. Rather then offering me gas, or anything to help my nerves after I told them I was extremely nervous, and my blood pressure was fairly high, they chose to not offer me anything and put a bunch of shots in my mouth. The extractions took about an hour. He left the room door open, and people were walking by and stopping the whole time I was in surgery....it was embarrassing to say the least. I get out, and not only do they not give me instructions to take home, but they dont set up a time to come back for a post op appointment. I get home and about an hour later my parents almost have to call 911 because I passed out for a good 3 minutes. I call Aspen the following day to ask about instructions and they apologize that they messed up on that and tell me what I need to do. I go back in for a post op a week later because I am still in a lot of pain and have missed an entire week of work, only to find out that the right side is infected, no dry socket, just infection. They give me more pain pills, some antibiotics and tell me to stay home for another week. They also refund my money, and the regional manager sends me a $50 for all of my troubles....which I thought was rather lame. Another week goes by and I am still having a lot of pain and my ear is bothering me a lot. I also have a cold, so I go to the ER and find out that Aspen gave me the wrong meds for the infection. The doc said they should of given me something much stronger. He gave me something, and refilled my pain meds without me asking. I call Aspen Dental and the Regional Manager happens to be there....he says they cant see me again and they have done all they can for me. And hangs up on me. I get the meds filled and talk to a CSR. She was supposed to have someone call me, the Regional Managers boss, and that still hasnt happened. I am in the process of starting a lawsuit...considering I missed about $1000 in wages and had to pay out of pocket full-price for all the meds. They tried to call me back that day and send some meds to the pharmacy, and at that point I knew they knew they were wrong. DO NOT GO HERE!! THE SERVICE IS TERRIBLE AND THE PEOPLE DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU, ONLY GETTING YOUR MONEY. Its been 3 weeks and I am still miserable...

The dental hygienist was great but office people didnt know what my insurance coverage was and tried to bill me for it. They had my insurance information from my last visit when they tried to bill me for an electric toothbrush that I told them I already purchased on my own. They said they would look into it and called and left a message that it was a frequency issue. I still didnt understand because I got two cleanings a year 100% covered. I called back and talked to someone else and they said they would call me back and never did. I called my insurance company and they said there wasnt any communication about me and that my cleaning wasnt listed. I was also told that a fluoride treatment would cost me $30 and that my insurance wouldnt cover it all. My insurance company said it was covered 100%. I feel like I was being billed for items I shouldnt be and that they never spoke to my insurance company. Either incompetent or trying to get more money. They still havent contacted me. I wont be going back. Two times they have tried to bill me for things they shouldnt.

I was recently a new patient at Aspen Dental Merle Hay and had a very different experience from "Def P". As soon as I walked in the door I was greeted with a beautiful smile from the receptionist Andrea. She was very pleasant and helped me get started on becoming a patient at aspen. The dental assistants, hygenist, and Doctor were also very friendly and helpful and took the time to explain the treatment I needed and why. I then finished my visit with the Office Manager, Jessica, who was very honest with me and I did not feel like I was being "sold" on anything. Everything was black and white and I understood why I needed the treatment they were recommending. I would definitely recommend this place to all my friends and family and plan to continue going here as I think all the staff is great!

This was my 6mo. checkup and cleaning. I had this,"shadowing" hygienist (aka just out of school) who was a train wreck. She hit me in the side of the face numerous times while doing my x-rays and stepped on my foot. She didnt know how to run the xray machine. I had the gadget in my mouth so long it was making me drool. When she cleaned my teeth, it was painful. Ive never had my teeth cleaning be painful until this day. I finally knocked her hand away and told her she was done. Fortunately, this gal will be working at the West Des Moines location, so I wont have to deal with that ever again. Ive been a patient at least 5 years. Ive never had pain like this for a simple cleaning. LOVE Dr. Joe and the "regular" hygienist. P.S. I DID complain during AND after.

The staff that worked with me was very nice, and I think each one done their job. However I dont think the Doctors cared one bit about what I said. When asked if I liked the way the denture fit, I replied that it was horrible and I would rather use the old one instead of theirs. The Dr. said "you have to try it and it should be alright". I feel like I totally got ripped off, and they treated me different cause I had no insurance. But I did pay cash and paid in full.

Aspen Dental dentists and staff have been absolutely wonderful with me! They handled a particularly difficult bridge for me in a relatively short amount of time with relatively little discomfort. I love this place and this is coming from a person who generally never liked going to the dentist. I would recommend Aspen Dental to anyone who needs any type of dental work! They gave me my smile back! Love you Aspen!!

my husband is on his 2nd set of temporary dentures. the first ones werent right and had to have more impressions. 2nd set of temps look terrible. the bottom ones are WAY too long. when he opens his mouth to speak, only the bottoms show, not the top. the assistant told him they look nice. i dont see how he can go 3 months looking like this. i wish they would give him a refund so he can go somewhere else.
