Before I got my new puppy I did some research on area vets. I thought that Azaela Lakes seemed like it was a ver nice vet that had very good reviews. My main concern was price because I am supporting my husband through school right now. I asked how much it would cost to fix my puppys 2 hernias and to get her spayed they told me it would be $100 for the combined price for the hernias and $85 for the spay, but if I were to get the two surgeries done at the same time the price would be knoked down because they would only have to do anestesia once. They sounded like just what I was looking for... Nice and Affordable. My first experience with them was very nice so i continued to take my dog there. My dog had 2 hernias, so when I recently decided to get her fixed I took her to Azaela Lake. I called the Vet a few days before the surgery to get a price quote because I live on a very tight budget. I was told that the total price for my dog who they looked up in their records was going to be $150. That was supposed to include her spay and the fixing of her naval and groin hernia. To my surprise upon my picking her up from surgery I was given a bill for $250. I told them there must be some mistake becuase I was quoted a different price. I then had to explain to them what procedure my dog had and I had to explain to them what they already explained to me. They then said they would refund $80. Then they later called me and said that the price was going to be $250. I will not be taking my dog back to that place ever again if I have to remind them what procedure my dog had and if they can not be consistent in their pricing! I will never trust my animal in the hands of someone who cant even quote a correct price on a common procedure. They are a far cry from what I thought they were and wanted to warn others from taking your animal there if you are on a budget.

My dog had surgery here back in 2007. He has had major problems with his leg ever since they cut him. The vets Ive taken him to in Austin, Tx have all told me his pain and suffering was do to a botched surgery. They cut him multiple times due to their own mistakes and gave him NO pain management. They told me he was being "silly" when he was quivering and crying in pain. He was whining the whole night so I ended up sleeping on the floor next to him to comfort him through his pain. The worst part is they LIED to me about the horrible job they did and led me to believe that the suffering was "normal". After talking about what happened with his surgery to vets and vet techs here in Austin they are appalled.Thank God for the wonderful vets here in Austin Texas who have determined the root of all his pain and suffering. This breaks my heart because I had been using Doctor Susie for a vet for many years before the botched surgery. They were also supposed to clean my dogs teeth while he was knocked out...they charged me and never did the service. For basic needs I think this place would be okay...just what ever you do...DO NOT LET THEM DO ANY SURGERY ON YOUR PET! I wouldnt suggest boarding either as I boarded several animals over the years and when I would pick them up every single one of them would be very hungry/thirsty...I never put 2 and 2 together as I was only a teenager but, after reading some of the reviews Im convinced they dont give regular food, water, or attention. I wish I could give this place great reviews because I LOVE doctor Susie. She helped me save a litter of kittens I was nursing back to health. Unfortunately she isnt in control of whats going on and how her staff if treating peoples animals. This needs to be brought to her attention.

The BEST!!! My furry family have been patients of Dr. Suzy for 18 years. We started there with our puppy Shyla because her Mom and Dad used Azalea Lakes as their vet. Shyla was with us almost 17 years because of the care she received first from Dr Suzy and then from Drs. Gretchen,Tara and Tony as the practice grew. MY classroom bunny, George, was well cared for there (til a student took him home for the summer and kept him). Our rescue Elsie( a black lab dalmatian mix) who is now 12 has received the best of care as well. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE at the clinic takes the time to learn my pet(s) name and quirks and cares for them as if they were their own. So for those that like lists: 1. Excellent medical care (From Dr Suzy who has been a vet for over 20 years to recent LSU vet school grads) 2. Vets primary concern is the patient. (I appreciate honesty and if I need to change how I care for my pet I want to know! I do not need to be mollycoddled my pets do.) 3. Staff and vets answer my questions in a clear and concise manner and again focus on patient care. 4. They care and love Elsie (and did Shyla) as if their own when I board them. 5. Affordable 6. Vets and staff volunteer with spay and neuter programs, rabbit rescue, and are involved in many community organizations(some for people too). 7. Yes sometimes they are busy because they are in demand. Waiting time is never unreasonable and if there is an emergency occupying the vet our appointment is with I am asked if I wish to see one of the other vets or wait or reschedule. I cannot say enough good things about Azalea Lakes Vets and my sister who went to Cornell is always pleased/impressed when I tell her about the care we have received!!!

I had an totally unexpected emergency when my little chicken, Baby, was attacked by my neighbors dogs last Friday. She was in shock with her eyes closed tight, gasping for breath, and bleeding from a wound on her neck. Ive only had her for a few months and I hadnt a clue what to do for her. I was certain that she would die. I called another Vet in the area who recommended Azalea Lakes for my chicken. When I called the staff was very kind and understanding and told me that there were at least two doctors there who could see my chicken. I rushed her in and dropped her off so that I could get back to work. The girl at the front desk let me know that the doctors were already examining her before I even walked out the door. Before 30 minutes passed, my phone rang with an update. Baby was stable, and the doctors recommended that she stay the weekend and be given antibiotics, etc. I was invited to come and visit at any time I liked and also to call in and check on Baby throughout the day, which I did ( ! ) many times. I was able to pick Baby up on Monday, almost as good as new. We are totally thrilled with the care that we received at Azalea Lakes. They were very professional and caring and incredibly fast in this emergency situation even though it was clear that they were very busy with other patients. I would absolutely recommend Azalea Lakes to anyone in the area with a chicken or any other kind of pet. Thank you for saving Baby!
