If I could give them no stars at all, I would. I have never been to a gynecologist thats as irresponsible as this one. Dr. Vicki, I think, is a good doctor, but the rest of her staff lacks communication and doesnt care about their patients well-being. Whenever I go to the clinic for a visit, I would always ask for the prices of the visit before confirming the appointment, but for some reason, they always send me invoices asking me to pay more when Ive already paid upfront. When I call in to ask about why Im receiving a bill for the service I already paid for, they would say, oh we did this service because your case was more difficult, and we were just trying to do everything we can to ensure your health is well. Well do they really care about my well being?! I think not! I ended receiving bills adding up to an extra $800-900 dollars for services I didnt request for. Im paying for services the nurses ordered, just because they think I need it. They never consulted with me that its a separate service, and it will be an extra charge. They didnt even ask for my consent for the services performed. Ive been to other gynecologist, doctors, and other medical clinics, and the staffs always ask for consent before they treat their patients or run tests on them. However, at Dr. Vickis office , they said consent is not needed. Um..I thought one of the greatest things about America is because we have the right to consent? In addition to being billed for services I didnt ask for, when I called to speak to Nicki, the billing department, she blames me for not knowing that the service they performed isnt part of what I scheduled for. I mean, how should a patient, new to the clinic, know what service is included in what? Im simply basing the services off of other gynecologists Ive visited. If I knew all of the things she expected me to know, Id be psychic and probably take over her job. She offered no sincere apology at all and blames the patient for not being competent enough asking if a service is extra when the whole appointment was about that one issue. Why should a patient be bothered by those kinds of unnecessary worries? Shouldnt the clinic hint at or inform their patients that this or that service wont be included in the amount that was paid for? I felt totally scammed and more mistreated than any clinic Ive visited. Besides my own experience, everyone who has visited them apparently suffered their long wait time. Every time I go for my appointment (which has only been twice) I have to wait for at least an hour before I get to see the nurse. If anyone is considering them, make sure to go ahead and make no plans for at least half of the day. Also, make sure to ask if every little thing they do is a separate charge if you are self-paying. Otherwise do expect an unexpected invoice coming your way in about two weeks.

If you value your health, DO NOT see Dr. Vicki Steen. In June, 2011, I made an appointment to see Dr. Steen for excruciating pain, heavy bleeding/clotting and lengthy periods. Of course I did not actually see Dr. Steen, I saw her nurse practitioner. I called the morning of my appointment to advise them that I had started menstruating. No one answered, so I went to my appointment anyway. I visited with the nurse practitioner for about…..hmmmmm ….. 3 minutes and was told that I would need to have a uterine ablation based only off the symptoms I was describing. No hands on physical examination was performed because I was menstruating. If they had answered their phone, I could have saved myself the $50 co-pay I was charged for seeing the doctor, without actually seeing the doctor. The following morning I received a call from Dr. Steen’s office scheduling me for an ablation and DNC, to be done at the hospital. What? Without being examined, how did she know what procedure to perform? So I scheduled the procedure and after a few days decided to get a second opinion. Something just wasn’t right with this. Good thing I did…..my second opinion physician actually examined me personally (no practitioner) and ordered blood tests and an ultrasound. Low and behold……numerous fibroid tumors were detected. The doctor explained that an ablation would not have worked on me because my uterus was so enlarged due to the number of tumors he detected. Now, I have to have a hysterectomy. Imagine, had I trusted Dr. Steen’s nurse practitioner, Dr. Steen would have started the procedure only to realize…..uh oh tumors…..and then had to completely remove my uterus. I would have awoken from a procedure having given birth to a baby uterus. MISDIAGNOSIS? Absolutely! To top it off, when I expressed my displeasure with her practice to her billing person and told her I was not going to pay the bill until I spoke with Dr. Steen, I was turned over to collection for a 3 month old unpaid $50 balance for the appointment I had with no doctor’s examination. Quite petty if you ask me. So, again if you are reading this, I would think twice about scheduling an appointment to see Dr. Steen. You probably won’t see her anyway, you’ll see one of her incompetent nurse practitioners. Thanks Dr. Steen. You’re the best! NOT!

Lets see...let me count the ways this office screwed up with me. First, I went there for my annual and called the 800 number to get the results, because it would take too much effort to have an actual person call with results. The results came back abnormal so I called the office and spoke to the SECRETARY who answered the phone. I asked her what abnormal results meant and she proceeded to tell me I had an STD and the nurse practitioner would call me back to let me know which one. THREE HOURS LATER and serious fight with my husband that ended with were getting a divorce you cheating ***** the nurse practitioner called me back and told me the results were abnormal due to a yeast infection! I told her what the secretary had told me and she said, "Im sorry. She never should have said that to you." After that I had decided to apologize to my husband, not divorce him and to definately SWITCH OBs. About a year later, I was 6 months pregnant with my second child when Dr. Steens office called me with a very rude lady yelling at me for missing my scheduled SURGERY! I asked her what she was talking about, and she informed me I had a scheduled procedure to have half of my cervix removed! I told her she had the wrong person, and the woman actually argued with me about it. I then told her I was PREGNANT and no longer was a patient of Dr. Steens. I then informed her she worked in an office full of blithering idiots! DO NOT EVER GO TO THIS PRACTICE. THEY HAVE WAY TOO MANY PATIENTS AND HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE DOING!!!!

I have been seeing Dr Steen for the past 14 years and she is a good doctor but is too busy. I rarely get to see her and I have to see her nurse practitioner Julie, who is rude and doesnt seem to care at all. She never spends anytime with me, never explains, anything, and is in and out the room in about two minutes everytime. Only reason I continue to go is because I am pleased with the cesarean sections I have had with Dr Steen and Im afraid to let another doctor do it because I have seen bad scars.
