MedExpress Urgent Care is an urgent care facility located in California, Maryland. The center aims to provide quick and efficient medical services to patients with non-life-threatening conditions. However, the reviews suggest a mixed bag of experiences, ranging from satisfactory to less than ideal.
The waiting time at MedExpress Urgent Care seems to vary. Some patients reported waiting for just 10 minutes, while others had to wait for up to two hours.
The registration process involves submitting an ID and insurance card. However, some patients mentioned issues with insurance verification, leading to delays and out-of-pocket expenses.
The reception staff generally received positive remarks for their professionalism and kindness.
The medical staff's performance appears to be inconsistent. While some doctors were praised for their friendliness and efficiency, others were criticized for their bedside manner and lack of availability of medications.
Patients generally found the diagnosis process to be quick, often lasting only a few minutes. However, the quality of care seems to vary depending on the medical professional attending to the patient.
The facility offers prescriptions, but some patients reported that they do not process insurance for medications, leading to higher costs.
Some patients recommended requesting specific doctors for a better experience, while others advised against going to the facility for more complex medical issues.
The facility has an average rating of 3.7, indicating that while some patients have had satisfactory experiences, there is room for improvement in various areas.

Their website says "A visit to one of our centers usually lasts less than an hour." so I decided to try them on a Sunday morning to get checked out for a sinus and ear infection. Arrived just after 10A and found a few people in the waiting room. Went to the front desk and they took my ID and insurance card and was told to wait to be called up to register. Sat there for almost an hour before the first person was called to the desk to register. Once you are registered, then you are the next to see the doctor. Their process is to keep your ID and insurance card until then... maybe so you dont just get up and walk out when you are tired of waiting? Finally, I got called up around 11:30 to register and was told they couldnt verify my Aetna insurance so I had to guarantee my visit with a credit card while they file a claim. I asked how much that was and the rep told me they bill $240 for a visit plus any lab/x-ray fees. Waiting to see how that plays out... Finally, about 10 minutes after registering, I was called to an exam room in the back where a tech took my vitals and then the doctor came in shortly after. Doctor was friendly and performed her diagnosis in about 3 minutes. Received 2 prescriptions and was out of there a little after 12P. So, 2 hours to see a doctor for 3 minutes... Ill look for other express care options in the future. Also, I heard they dont process insurance for prescriptions so you will pay full price if you have them filled there. I was quoted over $40 for the 2 meds I needed. Had them filled at CVS (who had no problem verifying my insurance) for $1.42.

Arrived at MedExpress Urgent Care on Friday evening around 7:00. After waiting in the waiting room for about 10 minutes (good), I was sent to the triage area. Triage was performed by the Radiology Technician (you could tell they were very short-staffed). Moved to the exam room where I sat for almost an hour. 1st thing Physician (could have been a PA) told me that he was the only doctor on staff since 8:00am that morning and had already treated 80 patients. He was nice, but you could tell he just wanted to go home. Took a look at my condition, went to check on some drugs, came back and told me that he just used the last shot and he doesnt have any drugs available and sent me to the St. Marys ER. Collected my $119 (since they didnt take my insurance and the receptionist didnt try really hard to look it up - interesting that St. Marys found it right away) and sent me on my way. They then had the audacity to want me to pay additional fees to send my swab to LabCorp so they could culture and send me the results even though I was headed to the ER (where they took my insurance) and they would perform the same exact test. Apparently, unless you need a simple flu shot or maybe a sprained wrist, this is not the place to go. Interesting that St. Marys ED has been getting a large amount of patients (with similar experiences) from this particular Urgent Care since they opened. I dont know how they will stay in business.

I personally have been seen two times. My first experience was great! The recpition staff is wonderful and do a wonderful job managing all who come in. They are professional and very kind. The first medical treatment by the Dr and/or practitioner was amazing. My second experience however was by far from mediocre. The reception staff once again were kind and professional. This time I was seen by Dr. Fatima Hussein, whose bedside manner was condescending and downright offensively rude. She appeared to be a straight shooter which I dont mind but rudeness, short tempered and argumentivness shouldnt be a quality seen within a facility that your primary job is to help and deal with the public. I even thought that this could have been an off day for her...we all have those. What prompted me to write this review-- is that my mother came to your express care last week and had the exact horrible experience with Dr. Hussein. SO...if you want to be treated with dignity and respect request another member of the team to provide your treatment! I hope that the management team takes this very seriously and is able to inservice on patient treatment or terminate from employment.

My wife (50years old) retired with no sign of drug use what so ever and has a high tolerance for pain was treated for a fractured wrist on 12/17/16. They took x-rays to confirm. She was in a lot of pain. The doctor said, "Im sorry but we dont issue pain medication for fractures." This is the first I have ever heard of this. SHE CRIED ALL NIGHT LONG LADY! Get a clue. Im not going to call names but this is STUPID! Just because theres a drug problem in this county does not constitute not giving her anything for her pain!! NOT EVEN 2 or 3 pills so she could sleep? PULL YOUR HEAD OUT LADY! AGAIN SHE CRIED ALL NIGHT!

Very nice and pleasant place. They told me the wait was about 2 hours and it was roughly right on point, but as the time passed I didnt even notice. The check in/out desks provided excellent customer service. The triage nurse and physician were very nice, understanding, and informative. I highly recommend this urgent care center. Today may have been a good day for me but it was a great 1st impression. They even offer a flat rate for prescriptions when you get ready to leave but you can choose to take the prescription to you own pharmacy. A good use of 3 hours I would say.

Took my 3 year old here on a Sunday for an ear infection that had him up the night before. There was a full waiting room by 8:45am so it took a while, an hour and a half maybe to be seen but they were organized and professional. All the staff was friendly (with kids too) and knowledgeable. They even had stickers for my son when he was done which he was really excited about. They called me 3 days later just to follow up and see if we had any questions or concerns. I was really impressed with all aspects of this experience.

My sister came in here a few months ago and was telling me about her experience here. She had a fairly pleasant experience, everyone was nice and friendly but she said the receptionist(im not sure of her name but i think it started with a D) told her not to see one of the doctors and to request the other doctor on duty, because she would not listen and wouldnt give you the right treatment. I see this as very unprofessional and she shouldnt be telling patients which doctors to see and not see.

I was extremely pleased with my experience at MedExpress today. The staff was incredible, Dr. Hayes was very personable and quickly addressed my symptoms with regard and solutions. Overall I was very impressed that in an hours time I was triaged, seen, had lab work done, had a prescription, and had the medication. Thank you to the staff members for being kind, knowledgeable, swift paced and doing a great job!
