I read some good reviews before taking my daughter to this facility for her dental care. When I walked in I was surprised by the lack of control parents had over there children...they were running and screaming and it was a whole lot of commotion. There was little to know activities or toys for children to utilize. Several children there were extremely sick with runny noses to deep chest coughs.....there was no antibacterial had sanitizer anywhere in the waiting room. I signed my daughter in for her first appointment.....which will be her last....I sat down and she asked if she could go play with the few blocks that were available on this tiny corner table....I said yes. There was a young Hispanic boy playing at the table and his mother was sitting across from me. Within a couple minutes my daughter came over to me holding her arm because the boy had grabbed it and twisted it when she tried to play with the blocks. I looked at the mother in the face and mad the comment that maybe she should just stay with me..which was ENTIRELY UNFAIR...and that mother did absolutely nothing to correct her childs behavior...within a few minutes he walked up to my daughter and tried grabbing her again...I HAD ENOUGH! I made it loud and clear that was unacceptable and she (the mother) still had no reaction...I shouldve walked out! The staff in the back were wonderful with my child but the staff upfront need to learn how to control their patients and the patients parents! My daughter should not have to be assaulted when she goes to the dentist nor should she be scared because of all the screaming, yelling, and running around! Its unfortunate because the doctors and assistants in the back seemed very caring but out front in the waiting/check out area its a complete joke!

We took our 5 year old to the Pediatric Dental Center of Frederick today, because he was bitten in the face last night by a dog and suffered fairly severe trauma to his upper jaw/gums/teeth. We were immediately taken in and were put in a room to be prepared for the dentist to review the situation. At no point were we left alone. We were constantly being taken care of like we were close friends. The nurses all great, and even went out of their way, trying to make our son feel better. Dr. Mansman came in and looked at our sons mouth and reassured both us and our son, that he would get it taken care of. We werent waiting long before all 4 teeth were out. Our son hardly knew that anything was happening. You could tell that all the people that were working on our son were there because they love helping young boys and girls feel better. The Dentist put our sons care and well being above all else, and the nurses bedside manner was exemplary. I am totally satisfied with our visit in every way. I read some of the other reviews on here and its just silly. If you dont take care of your kids teeth, expect the dentist to be hard on you about not enforcing good dental practices with your children. If he doesnt, who will? Also, if you act like a fool in his office (it is HIS office by the way), expect to be treated like a fool. Seriously, these people are great, they do good work, the costs for services are very competitive and reasonable, they take a large number of insurances. This is a great place. IF I had any complaint at all about the office, it would be that they should "refresh" the toy selection in the waiting room. Thats really all I could think of.

Overall, I have good experiences at Pediatric Dental Center of Frederick. However, I think they need to make some significant changes to their check out process. The check in process is quick and easy. The majority of the time, the appointments are very quick. They obviously have that down to a science. However, when it comes time to check out, you have to sit and wait. There have been times when we have sat waiting to check out for longer than the actual appointment took. When you have four children who have just gone through the process of having dental work done, some of whom were anxious to begin with, then the last thing they want to do is sit and wait when its supposed to be all over. This problem is significant enough for my family that we have considered changing providers. We had a great experience today with Janel and Dr. Micah, and they even expedited the check out process for us because we were there for procedures for two children and had been there for quite a long time already. This is not the norm though. Whats most frustrating is that it wasnt always the case. This seems to have just started in the last year or two. Before that I dont recall having to wait to check out, and weve been coming here for many years now. There must have been a change made that they thought would be better but, in my opinion, its not better at all.

My daughter Nala came here for three years before I started working here. She is the age of three. PDCF takes children at very young ages so the staff can support you through your childs oral health. Dr Mansman and the staff specialize in every individual childs needs wether it be a child with a phobia, no phobia, special needs, restorative and preventative care. The office space was very clean and the front desk staff is ready to welcome your child or children always with a friendly face and great attitude to assist you with any questions from any aspect of the appointment. The setup clinically is an open area so kids can monitor each other getting their teeth cleaned so behaviorally, nothing to be afraid of. Now working hand and hand with the doctors I can see how passionate they are to making her kids overall experience a great one. My daughter has not needed any restorative care but in the treatment rooms are private and your child will have a "buddy" ( dental assistant ) to be with them throughout the entire visit. If as a parent you need to be in another room with another child, etc.

We first brought our 4 year old here 2 years ago and we loved it. He has since been back every 6 months for a regular cleaning. Again, we loved it. Today we brought our 2 year old in for her first cleaning and it went great. The problem arises when we go to check out. The total is almost $500! $481 to be exact. Normally the total for our 4 year old is somewhere in the ballpark of $150 with a fluoride treatment. So one would assume the total for 2 children would be around $300. Wrong! Apparently starting January 1st they no longer offer discounts for customers not going through insurance. That would have been nice to know when making the appointment or when arriving at the office. I know for a fact that the insurance company would not have paid the $481. They would have paid somewhere in the $250-$350 range for the services rendered. So we are a little turned off by this "new" policy and will probably begin the search for a new pediatric dentist. Its a shame because we really liked this place.

I would NOT recommend this dentist! After noticing some tooth decay on my 2 1/2 year old son, I brought him in to be seen. After a quick look in his mouth, the dentist here said his tooth would need to be extracted, after he was put under general anesthesia. Thank GOODNESS we went and got a second opinion. We went to Ashland pediatric dentistry and were told the tooth could be cleaned out and filled, and he was put under with IV sedation. He asked me why the previous dentist (you guys!) suggested he get the tooth pulled. I didnt know why! He also went on to say that kids 3 and under should NOT be put under general anesthesia, as they can have a hard time coming to and can have breathing difficulties. A report on ABC news told of some horrifying stories of kids DYING from being put under general anesthesia. It was well worth the drive out there, and to be spoken to in a patient, one-on-one manner! Not just another number, get in, get out, take your money and acting like we just dont matter.
