This is hands down the best veterinary office I have ever been to. The staff treated my dog as if she were their own - from the woman at the counter, to the techs, to the veterinarian. My fiancee and I brought our four year old corgi in for what we believed to be hip dysplasia as well as booster shots and preventative heart worm medication. After a very thorough series of palpations by Dr. Vanassche she believed the issue was not hip dysplasia, as our dog did not react negatively to any of the stimulus. She could have sent us on our way and called it a day, but she listened to our concerns and despite the clinic being INCREDIBLY busy because of the long weekend (Memorial Day to be specific) she offered to keep our corgi there until the techs had time to take some x-rays. We learned that our corgi had suffered damage to a ligament and it healed incorrectly, thus causing arthritis in her rear left knee. Dr. Vanassche explained what this meant, what the treatment options were, and then made some personal recommendations. Dr. Vanassche stated that because of the age of the injury she nor the other orthopedic surgeon at Pennsylvania Veterinary Care did not feel comfortable performing the surgery. She could have easily told us she was comfortable and taken us for all the money we were worth, but instead both her and the other surgeon genuinely had our dogs best interests at heart. She went on to explain that she felt medicine, not surgery, was the best course of action in her opinion but also suggested getting a second opinion just to be sure. I was flabbergasted. Dr. Vanassche ultimately recommended NSAIDs, weight loss (our dog is approximately 7lbs. overweight), less high impact (playing fetch) and more high resistance exercise (swimming), and Dasuquin (an OTC hip and joint supplement that was reasonably priced when compared to other retailers/sources). She also presented laser therapy as an option, but in no way did I feel she was pushing it down my throat. We opted to go with the laser therapy as well which made a huge impact on our dogs mobility and we will definitely be scheduling more sessions later. The staff was very clear about the costs, which were VERY reasonable; if we had taken our corgi to our previous veterinarian we would have easily spent an additional $200-$350 more. We paid for blood work to see if our dog could take an NSAID safely, heart worm check, heart worm preventative medicine, flea and tick preventative, booster shots for bordetella and distemper, NSAID medication, Dasuquin, x-rays, and lastly laser therapy. The total cost was just a hair above $680. I cant recommend this location enough. But truly, the way they treated our dog was vital in shaping our feelings about this location. I cannot stress enough just how loving and kind they were with her, despite her lack of enthusiasm about being left by us for couple hours. :P Thank you to everyone at Pennsylvania Veterinary Care. <3

Excellent Care! I have 3 large dogs ranging from 88lbs to 110lbs. We have been going to Penn Vet Care for about 8 years. Dr. Joe has operated on two of my dogs 1 for skin cancer and the other for an Anterior Cruciate Ligment Repair. The ACL repair was about 4 1/2 years ago on the largest dog. He had great results and now at 9 years of age you would never know he had the surgery. The dog with cancer was a 12 year old golden and the surgery took alot out of him. He experienced urinary retention post-operatively. I called the emergency number and received a call back. The staff member came in to met me at the clinic and dealt with the problem no charge. I never feel rushed when I make a visit. My dogs are checked over throughtly and my questions and concerns are all addressed. I have shown up on their door step more than once in an emergency situation in need of stitches and they have stayed after hours to care for my dogs. I feel the value of care is worth the cost I pay. They keep up to date on new things. When my 9 year old golden with arthritis was struggling to get around Dr. Joe told me about a medication that was used with race horses. The medication is Adequan and now at 11 years with this medication he acts like he is 2 again. Along with a special prescription food JD. My dogs are my family, their health and well-being isvery important to me and they are worth the extra care and concern we receive at Penn Vet Care.

Pennsylvania Vet care has been AMAZING to my dog and I. About two years ago, my yorkie was playing with our family German Shepherd and they collided running together, and broke my little guys leg. He completely broke his radius and ulna, and needed surgery to repair the damage. Dr. Joe and the staff at Penn Vet Care were fantastic! They were incredible with caring for him, and performing (more than one) surgery to make sure my pup healed well and that he would be comfortable! As a pet parent, I had a very hard time dropping him off knowing that he would need to be overnight at the vet, but the staff there LOVES my dog, and that was a huge comfort! SInce they have also been helpful for my pups general heath and I trust their opinions very much. Dr. Joe and his staff genuinely care about and love the pets they interact with, and care about making the provision of care affordable and flexible for pet owners. I would recommend their care to any pet owner.

When I moved to Lansing years ago, one of the things I missed the most about small town life was my vet clinic. Ive finally found the same friendly, caring, go-the-extra-mile service at Pennsylvania Vet Clinic. Dr. Joe, Dr. Kami, Mary, and the rest of the team always have time to answer questions and even call after-hours to see how my cats are doing when they are sick. Their prices are more than reasonable too, and I never feel pressured to pursue treatment options or run unnecessary tests like the "cat specialty" clinics Ive used in the past. My cats are getting older and Dr. Joe and Dr. Kami have seen them through several serious illnesses, giving me options for referrals to specialists (MSU) when they felt it was needed and providing follow-up care. Ive referred several friends to them and each has experienced the same wonderful care.

Dr. Joe is a miracle worker! Dr. Joe prescribed "Dr Joes Joint Support" to my 88 pound Shepard Mix shes only 5-1/2 years old and was starting to show signs of hip stillness and loss of mobility. I was very worried and thought that I would have to watch my beloved dog suffer for the next 8-10 years with hip dysplasia. After three weeks of the chews, Foxy started behaving as her old self - as if she never had a problem in the first place. She runs and JUMPS like a puppy. I am very thankful and recommend Dr. Joe to anyone who loves their pets. Its now been several months and Foxy is showing NO signs whatsoever of hip issues. Thank you Dr. Joe!!

Weve been bringing our fur babies to Dr. Joe and his team for the past four years. I cannot imagine using another veterinary practice to care for our pets. We are all greeted with smiles and treated with compassion and kindness every time we visit. We have two dogs with chronic health conditions; and one of those dogs suffers from extreme anxiety when visiting the office. Dr. Joe and his team take extra care to make sure her visits are as stress-free as possible, which, in turn, keeps me stress-free as a pet owner. I highly recommend Pennsylvania Veterinary Care for your pets veterinary needs.
