THIS DENTIST IS A SCAMMER (or an idiot) I have been going to the same dentist for years, but I recently moved to Salem and the drive was just too long. I have excellent luck with my teeth and have only had 2 cavities ever. I also brush twice a day with a Sonicare, so they are very well taken care of. I do, however, have coffee stains on my molars that are pretty dark, but my dentist always assured me they were only stains I went to this dentist and he told me I had SEVEN(!!!!) cavities. He even took pictures of my previously mentioned coffee stains to prove it. I was horrified that my old dentist had been wrong, and even with my insurance it was going to cost $800 to fill them. I went to a third dentist to see if this was really true, and he barely had to look in my mouth to tell me they were just stains and that I didnt have a single cavity. He did a thorough exam and said I had great teeth. As far as the "kind & caring" aspect, I am one of those people who HATES the dentist. I chose Artisan because they were supposed to be super helpful with that regard. Honestly, I didnt find them to be any different than any other dentist Ive been to. Also, the dentist kind of smelled bad. Ick. The cleaning was also really painful. So painful that I had to go home and take Motrin, and I couldnt eat solid food for lunch. I bled, a lot. I was actually squirming away from the girl while she stabbed me.. This is very unusual for me. And the final thing that really made me angry: they asked me to come in 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork, which is typical. However, when I got there 15 minutes early, what they really wanted me to fill out was a marketing questionnaire. Every question was along the lines of "which of the following incentives would incite you to come get your teeth whitened" I thought it was incredibly disrespectful, because I had to leave work early and lose pay just to help them make money. They didnt even go over the usual medical history paperwork until my appointment time, and then they did it in person. I will admit it was kind of nice to go over it in person just once though.

Being new to the area, I needed to find a new dentist. I did a google search and found Dr. Mathew. I went in specifically because I was having sensitivity and pain on one tooth. His location was very convenient, and his website looked decent. Vanessa, his receptionist, was very nice on the phone when I called to inquire if they were excepting new patients. First impressions are important. Dr. Mathew seemed friendly, nice, and comforting, too, but I had to question his methods of diagnosing my issue. He had me drink cold water and point to the tooth that hurt. Given that the pain radiated through my whole mouth, it was hard for me to tell. In the past, I have had dentists that have used a product similar to dry ice to test for sensitivity, or use a tool to determine its location. He simply peeked in my mouth and determined that I needed a root canal on a tooth that was recently crowned. I set up the appointment, but didnt feel right about it. In the meantime, I had a follow-up visit to do paperwork. My appointment was scheduled for 9 am. I was informed when I got there that Vanessa was running late and wasnt in yet. 20 minutes later, she showed up! I listened to my gut feeling and set up an appointment with my previous dentist. I attempted several times to get Vanessa to e-mail them my x-rays that they had taken. She never returned my call, and it took my previous dentist calling them to get them sent. I drove the hour and a half back to that office, and boy am I glad I did! He determined that my bite was slightly off because the crown had settled and/or shifted. All it took was a tiny adjustment with the grinding tool and it almost instantly felt better! He saved me $2000 and the potential complications of an unnecessary root canal!!! Also, the initial consultation was supposed to be free, and I way later got billed! I would not recommend this practice. I get the impression that cosmetic dentistry is really their specialty, and that general practice comes secondary.

First of all, I had been with a long-time dentist, who was seeing me only 2 x a year, and when informed I needed to remove a prior post from a root canal, referred me to an old-fashioned dentist - I found Dr. Mathew on the web and first impression when I entered the office was one of peacefulness and kindness from his associates. They are thoroughly concerned with your well being and after the initial root canal information, I opted to have an implant. Dr. Mathew spend a lot of time explaining what was necessary, what to expect and the timetable. Because of the strange payment with my insurance company, Dr. Mathew was also patient with me in working around my schedule. Appointments are easy to obtain and the office works around your timetable and availability. Dr. Mathew was very thorough and offered complete support, encouragement, knowledge and understanding of my needs from beginning to end. I now have the confidence to smile and have also obtained the best professionalism ever in a dental environment. In my opinion they are A-1+. I think I have also found a friend in the staff and Dr. Mathew and would recommend him completely.

I know everyone says they hate going to the dentist but I REALLY hate going to the dentist. Im not a phobic person but I get the so anxious when people even talk about dental work. I was looking for a new dentist and came across Dr Mathew on google and decided to make an appointment. Dr. Mathew and his staff are so nice and gentle. They will constantly make sure youre not in any pain and work very efficiently. They will show you the areas of concern with an x-ray or with a mirror so you know exactly whats going on and what theyre doing. I would recommend Dr Mathew to anyone looking for a new dentist!

I was one of those cowards that would rather lose their teeth than go to the dentist. I am ashamed to tell you how many years had passed. I finally could not put it off any longer. I was petrified and it took everything I had to make the call. Dr Mathew and his entire staff assured me, they understood my fears and anxiety. They comforted me every step of the way and finally, success! I have had my first treatment with great success, NO PAIN, no anxiety and completely comfortable with returning for the rest of my treatments! My thanks to the entire office. Dont wait! They are awesome!

Dental Phobia, no more! I have been seeing Dr. Mathews and staff for about 5 years. I used to be afraid to go to the dentist but I can honestly say I am not anymore! Dr. Mathew is not only an excellent dentist, he is also genuinely caring. He always asked about my family, knows them by name. He is a perfectionist in his work and so is Samantha, his hygienist. I appreciate the oral cancer screening they do. They are totally thorough. The office is gorgeous, private and feels more like a spa than a dental office. LOVE this team and am blessed to have them.
