I had been going to this vet for a few years because it was convenient to where I live. However I have a vocal Bengal who in his 14 years has never bitten or even hissed at a human, much less a vet. I assume because he is vocal when scared, unbeknownst to me, they put in his file that he is dangerous. I cannot stress enough that he has never lashed out during an exam, again not even a hiss. Due to this unwarranted note in his file, the tech put on the big gloves and held him AROUND HIS NECK while the vet examined him. He was so stressed out but still did nothing. While I was petting his nose, I was told not to because he could bite me. I told the vet he does not bite and never would. They ignored me. The vet thought he needed x-rays, and told me he would have to be put under because of how stressed he was. He was being held around his neck in a chokehold for 15 minutes. Yes he was stressed. Which still just meant meowing and looking terrified. He wasnt even squirming. I left and went to the vet on Washington. They did the x-ray as normal, with a simple wand and said he was great. I cannot believe the other vet wanted to put my 14-year-old cat at risk by putting him under instead of listening AT ALL to his owner. I have five cats and they will never return to the Adams St Vet. I have seen decent vets there but if you label my docile but loud cat as a risk without telling me and then treat him that way, ignoring my sworn assertions that has never bitten anyone and is around kids a lot - then tell me there is no way he can have an x-ray without putting put under - done. Unethical, rude, and putting a cat at risk for no reason. I know the front desk at Wash gets them some lower ratings but the vets and techs are good. I have utmost faith in Dr Sprague there. And like the other many vets my cat has seen in his lifetime, he treated him well, and had no issue with the x-ray or general treatment. I wish I remembered the name of the particular vet - youngish guy with a sh*tty bedside manner. Not hard to notice. They literally lost thousands of dollars a year with the number of cats I have.

I have had all good experiences with my dog here. everyone is friendly, the service is good, prices are fair and we have never had to wait more than a few minutes. the only reason i did not give it 3/3 is because one doctor made some comments was i not thrilled with. my dog is part pit bull, and she commented (2x, on two different visits) on how i need to make sure i train my dog well bc people assume pit bulls are bad dogs. She mentioned that she thought he was jumpy and i needed to work on that. he is actually super sweet and friendly, but being in a new place, poked and touched by all new people - he was def nervous and jumpy. When she mentioned it again I got turned off. She did her job well, medically speaking. I just thought it was a bit rude and not totally her business. (we have spent a ton of money on training, the last thing i wanted to hear was that someone thought my dog needed even more)

Dr. Barbaris has been wonderful. We switched to this vet after going to the Animal Hospital on Washington street who were awful. You dont have to make an appointment and weve never had to wait more than a few minutes to see the vet. Everyone is really friendly and thorough. They are also really reasonably priced. Our dog was diagnosed with kidney disease so we have been to the vet several times over the last six weeks and everything has been really reasonable. They even helped us overturn an appeal from our insurance company who was denying coverage for our dog. You can email the vet any time and they are great about getting back to you and answering all of your questions. I cant say enough good things, we are really fortunate we switched.

My girlfriend and I took our cat in because we thought she had asthma. Unfortunately, it turned out that she had cancer in her lungs. But from the moment of telling us her condition to the moment we left the hospital, the staff was unbelievably helpful and caring. The doctor gave us time to ourselves when we heard the news, then whilst considering our options, and continued to wait until we were ready to move forward. Meanwhile, a nurse had been standing up, giving our cat oxygen as she moved around for over an hour. Every employee was so sympathetic, told us how sorry they were, and continuously asked if there was anything we could do. When it comes down to the bottom line of simply who cares the most, Animal Infirmary cant be beat.

Weve been here several times but next time I will make the drive out to Livingston Animal Hospital. Last visit I walked out with a bill close to $400 just for shots and a heart worm test. Extremely pricey if you ask me. They also refused to fax me a prescription for the heartworm pills so I can order online. They said I would have to pick it up and they dont fax to online pharmacies because theyre not licensed. I called 1-800-pet meds and got their NJ pharmacy license number and they still refused with no explanation except that was their policy. Speaking to a manager got me nowhere - the more I think about it, def. not using them again. The doctors are nice though - I just will be taking my $$ somewhere else in the future.

We live next door. They have always been very friendly and very compassionate. We had to put out Rotty to sleep years ago and they have us all the time we needed to say goodbye. I now have my 19 year old cat here and the vet spent a lot of time with me. The price is outrageous but Im in Hoboken. If we dont want to travel or cant, thats what you pay for. The front desk also kinda rushs you out without my medication or instructions. They asked me if I got my meds and I said I didnt. Anyway be prepared to pay $400 for a medical exam, comp health screen (blood work) and medication. Medication is expensive here.

After getting ripped off yet again at the Animal Hospital on Washington, I finally tried the Infirmary after several recommendations. Everyone was very friendly, concerned about the well-being of my cat, and, perhaps best of all, no hidden charges, extra tests, etc... that always, always, always seem to appear on my bills at the Animal Hospital. The doctor was very professional, and took her time to explain the situation, the possibilities for treatment, costs, etc.... These people are great, from the receptionists to the vet-assistants to the vets. Highly recommended.

I went in today to get a Rabies shot and some other work done, and had to cancel because the prices were so exorbitantly high. I checked my bill for Rabies shot from when I went a year ago and it was $29. Today they quoted me $69! That is a 110% increase! After leaving politely and saying I had to think about it, I called some other NJ vets to get quotes, and I was given total prices of under half what Animal Infirmary charges. Youll save money by renting a car and going somewhere else.
