I was recommended to South Charlotte Dermatology by a girlfriend who has been going to him for years. I could NOT BELIEVE that he could get me in within a few days! I have never been to a dermatogist before but kept hearing about about skin cancer screenings so thought now is as good as time as any to get that done (Im 29) - i also break out occasionally and am a little self conscious of some sun damage that is on my face. First let me say, my appointment was at 4:30. I hate late appointments because your wait always seems to be forever as doctors overbook and get pushed back as the day progresses. This didnt happen here. I was back out of the door and on my way home at 5:10. Can I repeat that?! In and out in 40 minutes! Unheard of, I know! I was instantly at ease when Dr. Schulman and his assistant came in even though I was just in a backless paper robe and my undergarments. He did the body check and then assessed my face. I was really interested in some chemical peals because I have some friends that swear by them. He basically told me that I could come back to him for a peel if I wanted to waste my money but told me to first try the generic prescription he wrote me as it will treat my break outs and an added bonus will work on fading sun spots. WHAT? A doctor that isnt going to try to squeeze every last dime out of me or my insurance and "sell" his extra services. This is another first! All of this being said, I highly recommend this doctor and was happy every step of the way. I immediately recommended him to my husband and my boss who is currently unhappy with his derm.... and to anyone who is reading this post.

This was by FAR the worst experience I have ever had with a doctor. I recently moved to Charlotte and have had eczema since I was a small child. Allergies and cold weather make it worse so I made an appointment with Dr. Schulman. My wait was quick (I assume no one else wants to see this MD either) Once I got in the room, he keep insisting that I have a whole body mole inspection. I have no moles, not even one small one. Not to mention that my insurance wouldnt cover the completely unnecessary procedure. He then made me take a bunch of literature on moles, and asked me to make another appointment after leaving this one to have the whole body mole scan. I proceed to show him the places that are bothering me. He asked me how long I spend in the shower, to which I replied maybe 15 or 20 minutes? Im not sure I have never timed my baths. "Thats it!" He said, you are spending 4 times what an average person spends in the shower, not to mention that you are wasting water, and using too much energy. So he gave me a RX and told me to only take showers every 2 or 3 days and my skin will get better. NOT the case, it got much, much, much worse, and now since going back to taking baths every day my skin is getting better. This guy was so rude, please consider another MD.

I have read the most recent reviews of Dr Schulman and totally disagree with their opinions. In fact, I believe the rating should be based on the care received and not a wait time. I am sitting in Dr Schulmans waiting room this Saturday morning. I left a message yesterday after business hours and they called me this morning and got my son in this morning. There is no other dermatologist in the Charlotte area that I am aware of who keeps regular Saturday hours. My son is in his second year of college and has troublesome bouts of hair loss called alopecia and the best way to control it is to quickly get cortisone shots. Dr Schulmans staff is always understanding and works us in as quickly as possible and I am so very appreciative of that. This is the type of service you can expect from Dr Schulman and his staff, you are treated as person and not an appointment slot. My entire family is seen by Dr Schulman and I have recommended him to many friends and family. You may indeed have to wait beyond your appointment time, but when you see him, he takes as much time as needed to ensure your concerns are met. I highly recommend him, you will not be disappointed.

As a long term patient of Dr. Schulman at South Charlotte Dermatology I could not be happier with the overall improvement, quality and appearance of my skin. As a native Charlottean, I have seen a number of different dermatologists around town to try and achieve clear skin free of cystic acne and frequent, sometimes painful break outs. Other Doctors would recommend quick fixes or medications that were not strong enough to get to the root of the problem. Dr. Schulman is extremely knowledgeable about the right combinations of topical creams and oral medications that helped me achieve the clear complexion I have always wanted. The staff at South Charlotte Dermatology is equally as helpful in answering my questions, ordering prescriptions and making recommendations of products best suited for my skin type. Dr. Schulman has also helped me with other skin ailments and issues throughout the years and the results have always been positive. If youre looking for a Dermatologist who can understand your skin type and what may work for you, visit South Charlotte Dermatology. You will not be disappointed.

As mentioned by some of the previous reviewers, the wait is ridiculous. I waited in the reception area for an hour and 15 minutes before they called me back. When I got to the exam room I waited another 20 minutes for the doc to arrive. He showed no interest in the reason for my visit. He was having a side conversation with his assistant and constantly interrupted me when I was trying to explain my issue. I was there for hair loss. He said I was getting old and not to worry about it and said I wasnt loosing my hair - (which CLEARLY anyone can see that I am). Even though he said I didnt have a problem, he still wrote me a prescription and didnt explain what the meds do nor what results should be expected. His total exam time was about 5-7 mins. When I left I asked the receptionist for a receipt of services to use for my FSA and insurance. She said she would mail it. To date, its been almost a month and I still havent gotten my receipt. They do push the body scans, so be aware. I would not recommend this place and urge you to consider your options before making an appointment.

I had terrible acne that only hit me at 21. Never really had a blemish in my life before that, not even in my teens then all the sudden it was full blown. I tried every product, chemical peels anything!! I broke out for about a year terribly. Spending so much money on my skin which only seemed to get worst. Dr. Schulam was so nice and really funny. He was confident that if I followed his instructions and used the prescriptions correctly that my skin would be beautiful again. With one visit and he wrote me enough prescriptions to last me for a year he confidently told me I wouldnt have to come back. I was skeptical but within 2 months my skin was gorgeous and has stayed that way. I feel like he gave me my life back. And for the people complaining about he pushes not taking showers for 20 mins thats a common fact that you apparently didnt know. Hot water robs your skin of its natural oils. You should have thanked him for that advice.
