I just moved to the area and Im looking for a new vet. My dogs are due for their yearly appt including vaccines. When I called and made the appt, the person I spoke to on the phone was very nice. However, I had to call to reschedule the appt and have decided not to take my pets here. I called 3 times and was still unable to actually cancel or reschedule the appt. The first call I was immediately placed in hold, after waiting 20 minutes I had to hang up. The second call I told the person I needed to reschedule and she said she couldnt find my pets info and again I was put on hold. Again after waiting 20 minutes I had to hang up. The 3rd time I called, I couldnt even get through and had to leave a message. As of right now, I still have not received a call back. If I cant even call and speak to someone, it doesnt give me much faith that they would be able to communicate should there be an issue with my dogs. I have since scheduled an appt with another vet. I dont think I would recommend this vet, just for the simple fact I couldnt even talk to someone. Edit: I finally received a call back stating they were having computer issues, it was ok I wanted to cancel and they would call back when the system was working again. I was given an apology but the whole message was rushed and the woman did not seem sincere. If they were having computer issues, that is fine but they had 2 opportunities to tell me that previously. I would have been more understanding, but my original review stands. I still dont plan on taking my dogs here, again their communication was terrible.

It is with regret that I am writing this review as most of the reviews are stellar. As fate would have it I just happen to be that one bad case. Nonetheless I feel the need to share my experience with PRPH. My dog has been seen by both Dr. Jaax and Dr. Chase over the course of the past 10 months. My dog, who is 15 y.o., lost his litter mate in January to cancer. Azio has not been the same since losing his brother. I have spent quite a bit of money making sure that Azios health is up to par especially after losing his brother to cancer. Dr. Jaax surgically removed Azios warts a second time and charged me $100 more without consulting me. Telling me that she just thought shed remove as many warts as possible. Excuse me but I dont like people spending my money for me. After the surgery he contracted an infection as I noticed the wound was not healing. Problem #1: Dr. Jaax never called Azio back for a follow up exam after such an extensive procedure that left him with tons of stitches. When I called to discuss the wound, I learned Dr Jaax no longer worked at PRPH and Dr Chase rather reluctantly took over. I appreciated the fact that Dr. Chase did not charge me to get to the bottom of the infection and resulting mass following Dr. Jaaxs surgery but she TOTALLY has dropped the ball and has not followed up with this situation that has since turned into a nightmare for me. I have since had to take my dog to MedVets for specialized care. The lack of follow up, expertise and care to this situation has lead me to the decision to never take my dog back to PRPH again.

I love my veterinary office!! Never a wait which is nice! I have three rescued dogs, Dr. Jax found my dogs hypothyroidism and got him on the right medicine and a couple months later he was a whole new dog. He has grown his fur back and he bounces around like a puppy!! His quality of life is so much happier!!! Dr. Chase diagnosed my other dog with allergies and got him treatment right away and he is doing amazing too, no more stopping to dig at his back and no more bald spots. He is so much more comfortable. Lastly, my overweight dog was put on a diet by Dr. Jax and she lost 5lbs(she is a Chihuahua!!), she is much healthier! She also has some issues with anal glands and I used to have to get her in quick to be checked before she got an infection, the staff always got me in right away, I appreciate that! The first time she got an infection because I made the mistake of waiting, thinking it would get better on its own, we came in to see Dr, Albrecht and she fixed her right up. I have seen all doctors there and they always gave lots of care and explained everything so well!! Love this office!

I moved into the area just over a yr ago and have had 4 separate experiences with Pleasant Ridge Pet Hospital. All have been excellent. An emergency encounter happened when my college age son called saying his cat was very ill and it came on quickly. They let me bring the cat right over while my son went to work. Unfortunately, the cat had multiple stones or cysts and the prognosis wasnt good. They were very considerate and re-explained things to my son when he got off. And we took their advice and had her put to sleep. They were very compassionate about the whole thing. I had a lesser incident last week when I returned from a business trip to find a large open sore on the back of one of my cats. They once again made time to see her that day. And we tried to figure out what couldve happened to cause it. I received oral antibiotics and topical cream. I was impressed when they called back a week later to see how the cat was doing. Ive had both Drs. Chase and Jaax and found them both professional and helpful.

Ive been to a few vets in the area and Pleasant Ridge is the best. My dogs and I moved down the street a couple of years ago and only transferred out of convenience, but I am so glad we did. They are the most reasonably priced, caring vet Ive ever been to. I mean, hundreds less than our last vet on some of the exams/procedures weve had to undergo. They know both of my dogs by name when we come in, they know their weird habits, what to watch out for with them, etc. They also give them treats when we stop by on walks, which is always a plus for the dogs since it makes everything a little less scary when we show up. Weve seen all three doctors at this point and theyve all been wonderful, although you can tell they all have different opinions on best treatment methods and such. Its nice to be able to get varying opinions from the same place sometimes. Bonus points that none of them or any of the staff hesitate to cuddle up to my 103lb pit bull when theyre giving exams. Theyre fantastic.

I was new to the area and had also recently rescued my dog. After calling around to a few different places with not so friendly receptionists and appointment schedules that did not sync with mine, I found Pleasant Ridge Pet Hospital. I was able to get an appointment immediately. I could not have imagined how friendly, patient and caring the staff at Pleasant Ridge would be! As a first time mom, I definitely have a little bit of an overbearing approach, but each time (no matter how many times) I have called there, they are always so patient and understanding. They are definitely the best.
