Condition: Patient has MS and is in an wheel chair, (no use of legs), and Congested Heart Failure. Reason for admittance, excess swelling of the feet, both upper and lower legs. My wifes condition started in November, 2015 and she has been in and out of the hospital 5 times due to this condition. Her last stay was in August, 2016. For the second time, the same ER Doctor refused to admit my wife because the ER Doctor stated our insurance wouldnt pay. Our insurance paid the 4 times before. Only after much pressure from my wife and myself did the ER Doctor agree to work with us and let her stay. We could the ER Doctor was not happy with us. However, the most important complaint with MVHs hospitalists was during her August admittance. During her first 4 admittance her stay was 5 days each. During her August visit the hospitalists released her only after 3 days. She had three hospitalist during the three days. One for each day. All had a different was of treating her condition. One hospitalists enter her room and ask her what the wheelchair was for. He never looked at her file before coming into her room or he didnt read the file completely. He didnt know she had MS. Their lack of patient knowledge should worry everyone. The last hospitalist who saw my wife, discharged her before the treatment was complete. He only reduced the swelling by 50%. He wouldnt follow our advice and keep her any longer. If we only had our family doctor back at the hospital doing morning rounds. If your family doctor works for Premier Health, he doesnt come to the hospital, you are at the mercy of whoever walks into your room. We have found this was not always good. In the past, we have ask two doctors not to come back due to disagreements. Lately at the Valley, it has sometimes been a battle to get the treatments she needs. MVH, you get a "D" on this visit. That is grading the Valley on a "curve".

Had a baby here with my OGBYN, whos office is here at the Berry Womans Center. It was a great experience, made possible mostly by my doctors and a few of the nurses that cared for me. During my stay 08/31/15 - 09/02/15 I had a good experiences in the delivery room with top notch nurses/anesthesiologists taking care of me throughout, plus my doctor listened to my request to deliver me vaginally, unassisted, without the use of a vacuum or forceps. A decision Im glad he respected. After delivery I was moved to the postpartum room and here my service went down a little bit. To be honest the day nurse was cold and seemed too busy, she was blunt and not very comforting. However the night nurse was THE best taking care of my baby in the nursery and engaging with us ( husband and I) on a real personal level. She made the stay wonderful. Worst part was the construction during the day. Construction was going on, on the floor above me and it was terrible. Noise all day, drilling, hammering and sanding. Not a calm place to rest after birth. But hopefully it will be better for me next time. Billing was okay, I pre-paid at check-in. But was still visited by a financial lady on the last day. Her mistake, she realized after we said something, and she apologized. But felt a little strongarmed and if we were a more passive couple who knows, we might have been overcharged. Overall 3/5 stars, -1 because of the construction -1billing & soso nurses. I will be back for my next baby, because my doctors are great and I will request the same good nurses I had. Hopefully construction will be done too.

Last summer I took my daughter to Miami Valley Hospital when she had a severe migraine headache. After they did the initial blood pressure and checked her pulse, we sat for over an hour and a half in the waiting area. Then we spoke with another person waiting that had gotten there 3 hours before us and still had not been seen by a doctor. When I questioned the receptionist about the long wait she said that there were many people in beds in the hallways back in the treatment area. Why they did not tell us and others of the long wait, I will never understand. There are several other hospitals in the area we could have went to. We immediately did leave and sought help elsewhere. My daughter had to endure excruciating pain unnecessarily for additional hours because of MVHs lack of care about the patients waiting to be helped. Thats what happened, when we went there for help. I just called MVH to see if they were that busy again so that I would not have a rerun of last time. I asked the MVH operator to speak with someone from the emergency room and was told that she would not put the call through, and that that information is not given out over the phone. You can see how much MVH really cares about their patients. We will not be one of them.

In February of 2010, I arrived by ambulance at the ER. Wish I could tell you more, but I dont even remember the ride there. But it seems safe to say that the ER staff worked a miracle because Im here to write the review! Next, it was time for a few days in Critical Care. Im 57, have been in many hospitals over the years, and have never, EVER received such excellent care as in this CCU! It was outstanding. The same can be said for the rest of my stay, which was in Pulmonary Services. Each and every member of that staff was caring, professional and inspired great confidence -- this part was truly amazing as I had mostly given up on Western medicine years ago. That completed my tour. I cannot come up with a single complaint. If your life is on the line as mine was (from a combination of pneumonia, diabetic ketoacidosis and an oxygen level of less than 50 upon arrival), insist that you be taken to Miami Valley Hospital. Bless them all!

Where to start? First off, they botched my girlfriends brain surgery which, come to find out, she probably didnt even need. She was 17. She no longer remembers anything before that point and has been paralyzed ever since. Also, theyre having a major issue with legionaries disease right now and a continuing battle again drug-resistant staph. Last but definitely not least, they try everything in their power to get money out of YOU before trying any other method. They purposefully throw away HCAP applications and will take you to collections before trying to even bill your insurance or get in touch with you. These people dont care they just want money. It costs $3k to have a boil removed and only $3million for a brain surgery... hey, can I write you a check for that? How about a monthly plan? No, their billing staff will just hang up on you, it seems to be all they know how to do.

They treated my wife like trash and with no respect. Doctor was caught out in hall saying she doesnt want patients like this. My wife has multiple complications, but doesnt deserve this or any of the crappy treatment she got from a couple heartless doctors. She was in tears and pain when I came to get her. They did nothing that our local hospital could of done. My wife was having one of the worse experiences of her life and they walk in like they want to have class with her as a experiment. If anything my wifes condition is worse. Next time Ill drive as far as I can even another state to avoid this God forsaken hospital. NOT HAPPY AT ALL !!! Pathetic even at the nurse station where they gossip as you wait standing there listening to non work related conversations. - 5 stars
