I took my dog to the establishment for the first time. I do not feel that they took the best care of my dog. First off, they did not even inspect my dog they only looked at her teeth after I commented that I do not get my dogs teeth brushed or clean yet every vet says that they look good. Secondly, It would seem like they would at least look at her ears and eyes considering that not only was I being charged for a full examination but also that it was our first time to this clinic. The reason, we went to the vet in the first place was because I noticed that my dog had white worms in her stool. I researched this onine and found out that these were tape worms that she had. After a stool sample was taken, the vet told me that they did not see any worms in her stool, I found this to be strange considering that everytime my dog went to the bathroom her stool was infested with these tapeworms. My dog also had bumps/lumps on her body I asked if they could check them out, after a jabbing of a needle several times into my dog they came back 15 minutes later to tell me that most of the bumps were mostly fat cells but that the other ones had certain cells that were undescrible. At the end of our appointment, the assistant gave me the one pill that the dog was suppose to take to get rid of the worms. So by the end of my visit, I paid $152 for no new information and had to give the dog the pill myself. I would have thought that they would have given the pill to my dog themselves. The pill costed $35 by itself and after going home and looking at the cost of the pill online I was distrubed to find out the pill itself only cost $5. If I could make a suggestion, I would say have much better bedside manner, better treats(as they thought trying to give my dog puppy food as a treat would make her happy after being stuck and jammed with a needle) and if you dont think you will get results from a cell lab test then dont do the test then charge me to tell me no new information. I will not return to this clinic and hope that this review is helpful to others that love and care for the pet as much as I do!

We recently adopted a kitten from the Charleston SPCA and along with the adoption was a free rabies vaccination from a veterinarian included with the cost. We chose The Animal Hospital on Dorchester Road for this service. This was just the beggining! I scheduled an appointment the first time and was not impressed with the service or the care that was administered. Naturally, I understand that a kitten of 6 weeks may be too young for a rabies shot. So my wife and I rescheduled after for a second try if you will. By far the worst decision ever made. This time my four year old daughter went with and said that she didnt ever want to go back there. The vet was extremely rude and should probably be shut down. I have owned pets along with my wife since we were children and actually volunteer at local shelters and were completely disgusted at this vets behavior. The kitten that we brought back to the vet rides in my wifes lap in the car. No big deal for anyone that has a cat for a pet and respects their feelings. It took three approches of the vet and her staff trying to sell my wife a carrier before they understood we werent going to buy one. Who wants to shove their cat in a cardboard box? They finally realized that we werent going to buy one and would not let my wife carry the kitten to the car because the vet was not O.K. with it. To this I say mind your own business and this kitten is way better off without your over-protective care. You have obviously never raised children and I feel sorry for them if you do! If you love your animals and respect them, please take them anywhere but here! I will be looking to remove them from the free service from adoption ASAP because while the Rabies shot was only $16.00 you had to pay an office visit of $19.00! Worst business for animals ever managed by the current owner! I gaurantee that if someone were to buy her out today, business would boom tomorrow!

Everyone that works there is very nice and professional but I feel that they push labs and meds my pet really does not need. The first time I went I felt like I was talking to a car salesman. They tried to push Trifexis on me so hard saying "No, no we will get you started on it today" when I already explained she has heartworm medicine left from what the shelter gave me. Then would not stop telling me the topical flea meds do not work even after I told them "OKAY I understand that but I would like to try it, THANK YOU". They probably went on for a good 15 mins after I said no thank you. Listen, I understand you supposedly want the best for my pet but that does not mean selling me the most expensive product out there. And just recently I took my dog there because it was so last minute, she was just not acting like herself. And like I said before the techs and front desk are awesome and very caring, so was the vet (so I thought). They ordered a blood test which was very expensive but I know she needed to find out whats going on. They found out her thyroid was not producing enough T4 and the levels (which I found out later were DANGEROUSLY low) but the vet assured me she needed to do another $140 test to confirm this and could not give me medicine until then. I took the labs for a second opinion and the new vet told me she did not need to do any additional tests that the test they did provided all the info they needed and she said she is lucky I brought her in that day. Apparently her T4 levels were life threatening low. I walked out of the new vets office spending $20 on the medicine she needed and feeling good knowing these people actually cared about my dog and didnt use her to get extra money out of me. I will never go back here nor refer anyone here. I feel very taken advantage of. Shame on these vets.

I had the chance to utilize The Animal Hospital of North Charleston this past weekend and was nothing but pleased. I have a vet already that I absolutely LOVE and had actually followed him when he left his nearby practice to start his own practice about 40 minutes away and have continued to use him for years. However, this past weekend one of my dogs (which is a diabetic) became very sick, my vet has brief hours on Saturday (which most vets do) and I could not wait until Monday for him to be seen. Luckily I called The Animal Hospital and learned they had full weekend hours. Although they could not get Romeo in immediately on Saturday, they gave me some guidance over the phone and gave me an apt for first thing Sunday morning even though they had never saw us before. When we arrived Sunday every person in the office was very friendly, genuinely concerned and helpful. Vet Tech Katt assisted us during our visit and was very friendly and took the time to make sure we knew what was going on every step of the way and the cost of each thing they did along the way before they proceeded with anything. Dr. Ingram was our vet that day and she was wonderful. She could have opted to run all kind of tests but she opted to take a conservative approach for time being which I certainly appreciated. So many other vets will not do that. Their office has since called to check on Romeo to make sure he was feeling better and to see if we needed anything else. They are open 7 days a week and at what does not appear to be at a higher rate for that convenience, which is very helpful and unusual in this day and age. I would recommend Dr. Ingram and the staff for your pet care needs.
