Alief Animal Hospital is a veterinary clinic located in Houston, Texas. The hospital offers a range of services for pets but has garnered mixed reviews from its clientele. This article delves into the reviews to provide an unbiased perspective on the experiences people have had with this medical organization.
While the hospital has received some positive feedback, there are several alarming reviews that point to potential issues with the medical care provided.
One reviewer reported a tragic incident where their cat was prescribed a cocktail of antibiotics that led to severe health complications and ultimately, the pet's death. The reviewer warned against the hospital's practices and urged potential clients to look for other options.
Another reviewer shared an experience where the hospital refused to provide emergency care for a severely injured stray kitten. Despite the urgency of the situation, the staff did not prioritize the animal's well-being, leading the reviewer to question the hospital's commitment to animal care.
A third reviewer accused the hospital of causing the death of their family pet due to a combination of medications that should not have been administered together. The reviewer stated that the hospital did not take responsibility for the mistake and even demanded an autopsy.
While Alief Animal Hospital has some positive aspects, such as its convenient working hours and average rating, the negative reviews raise concerns about the quality and reliability of the medical services provided. Potential clients should exercise caution and consider other options for their pets' healthcare needs.

RIP Kelly 2013-2017. Cause of death? Poisoning by medicine prescribed by vets here at Alief Animal Hospital. It infuriates me this vet clinic has so many good reviews. I understand not everyone has had a bad experience but as responsible pet owners we should understand these type of clinics need to be shut down. Before I sent my mom here with her 3 year old cat Kelly I didnt fully read the reviews only saw the good ratings. So she brings Kelly here (05/02/17) with an infected cat bite on his paw, they shoot him up with 3 different types if antibiotics and still send prescribed antibiotics home. Kelly was doing better after leaving this vet my mom made it home and was happy to see Kelly was eating better and looking better. At 8pm, my mom gives him his first dose of prescribed antibiotics. A few minutes after that Kelly starts foaming at the mouth and writhing in pain. My mom rushes back to Alief Animal Hospital not realizing they where the main cause Kelly was dying. I met her there and right away asked if the medicine couldve cause it only to be told by the practitioner "maybe" but well see how he does overnight if he still looks sick bring him back and well start a further treatment(quoted at $450.00) well sadly Kelly did not make it overnight, he started cramping at his stomach and had pale gums and pain at any simple movement and sadly passed away at 3am. Having witnessed an animal poisoning before, my mom and I were able to tell right away what was wrong with Kelly. We should have looked further but my mom thought this was the best choice since she was worried Kelly would get worse before bringing him here. We where wrong! Kelly came here only needing light treatment and antibiotics. He received a deathly dose of antibiotics that his poor little body couldnt handle. I really hope people take the time to read this review and other similar stories and stay away from this deadly vet clinic. Go to Emancipet where they have LOW cost services as well and your beloved pet runs no risk at being poisoned by malpractice of these vets at the DEADLY Alief Animal Hospital. STAY AWAY and look for other options!! Houston is full of places where your furbaby wont be slowly murdered by wrongly prescribed medications. RIP Kelly beloved family cat. Only 3 years of age and taken away so soon only because Alief Animal Clinic does not make professional and conscious decisions.

We found a hurt kitten that had been hit by a car or something and were trying to see if its injuries could be fixed or if the kitten was to hurt and need to be put to sleep. We had gone to our family vet but he was out of town so they recommended we go over to Alief Animal Hospital. When we got there my mother went in to ask if the vet could take a look at the badly hurt stray kitten we were trying to help. The person at the front said they would go ask the vet. They came back and told my mom the vet said they had other emergencies they had to handle and then would not be doing anything else. That we should take the kitten somewhere else and handed my mom 2 cards. My mom asked if the vet could take one minute to look at the kitten (as the injuries were obvious) and just let us know if the kitten could be taken home for the night & then taken to the vet or if the kitten was to badly hurt & needed to be put to sleep. The vet would not even take a min. to look at the majorly injured kitten. We left and drove to Pet Smart which has Banfield animal clinic the girl at the front got the tech and she said the vet was very busy we asked the same thing we had asked of the Alief Animal Hospital and the tech took the kitten and showed the vet who advised the kitten was in shock & with the infection from whatever had happened to the kitten and the damage to its leg etc that the kitten would need to be put to sleep. They then advised that we could have it done there but it would be a lot less at the Sugar Land Specialty Center right around the corner. We took the kitten there and the vet agreed and the kitten was put to sleep. Alief Animal Hospital could have taken one min and looked at the kitten. The vet spent more time talking to the person at the front as to how they were done for the day then it would have taken just to give us the yes the kitten can be helped or no the kitten is to injured. This vet is not one we will ever go to nor would I recommend it and I hope that those who read this review will think 2xs about going to this vet. I know I want a vet that it about the animals and not about what time it is as it this was an emergency and just like a doctor pledges to help people in an emergency, I would think vets take a similar oath to help animals in crisis (especially when they are at the animal hospital at work). Scary.

Dr. Tamas murdered our family member. Lucky’s amazing life was cut short by the heinous acts of an incompetent veterinary clinic. For the last couple of weeks of Lucky’s life, he had a slight limp in his hind legs when running. While it was nothing to fret about, my father loved Lucky too much to allow him to limp – he took him to Dr. Ferdinand Tamas at the Alief Animal Hospital to evaluate what was wrong with Lucky. The doctor stated that Lucky is perfectly fine but to take a few medications, just in case. What the doctor did not do is determine how the cocktail of medicines he would give Lucky would interact with each other. My father, being concerned about his boy, made sure to ask the doctor if there are any negative side effects. The doctor clearly stated to my father there are “no negative side effects” and proceeded mixing Antibiotics, NSAID, and steroids into our Lucky. Within a few hours, Lucky was horribly sick. He was lethargic and refused to eat food or drink water. Concerned, my mother and father gave him Pedialyte and took him back to Dr. Ferdinand Tamas the very next day. Dr. Tamas told us that Lucky is fine, but to halt giving Lucky any medications to allow him to recuperate. He did not suggest we take any additional precautions; however, my parents and grandmother persistently kept very close care of Lucky. He continued to not eat or walk around Thursday. We did all we could, even using a wide-tip syringe to feed him Pedialyte, as recommended by the doctor, and were praying for his illness to go away. On Friday, May 9th, Lucky was at home with my grandmother while my parents were at work. Shortly after lunch, Lucky’s stomach started convulsing and he passed away in my crying and screaming grandmother’s lap. My mother and father rushed home to have their heart crushed. Their best friend, their boy, their loyal companion had passed away. They took Lucky’s body back to Dr. Tamas who quickly started to retract and demand an autopsy. The doctor would not admit to the fact that he mistakenly took the life of our family member, though we later brought him numerous veterinary resources that state not to combine Rimadyl and Dexamethasone, both of which were administered by Dr. Ferdinand Tamas.
