We have been bringing our Animals here for many many years for Dr. House to care for and he always did such a great job even with our partially wild cat that would get very scared there. After his passing I was worried about what would happen there. We had just picked up a stray and brought her here the guy there said she was fixed and two weeks later she had 7 puppies. I was able to shake that off she was very thin at the time from not eating right. Recently my mom took in the puppy we kept to get kennel cough and rabies and it cost us around 40 dollars! They have started charging a fee just to visit. Dr. House would be turning over in his grave and if that wasnt enough today we called about our dog that we think has cancer and asked if there was any organization that could call to help out financially because there was no way we could afford any of it and all they said was if we do anything you need the money. So yes I used to recommend this place it used to be great. Now it looks nicer and is under new management but I couldnt tell anyone to take their animal there and not feel guilty.

Finding a great vet with reasonable prices is mission impossible these days! But much to my dismay I did. My puppy, London, developed a condition called Cherry Eye. I tried to no avail to contact the vet where London had gotten his shots for a quote on the surgery procedure to correct the problem. Animal Care showed me no concern about my pet! As I was on my way to another vet for a consultation for the surgery my fiancee spotted the Animal Hospital of Pitt County and decided to stop just to ask a few questions. Dr. Richmond greeted London and handle him with care as he assessed his eye, the assistant was very knowledgeable, and the two receptionists were friendly and offered sympathy for my plight. And just when I thought things couldnt get any better for London and I they quoted me a reasonable price...$125.00 for the procedure! London eye is healing and he is back to looking handsome as ever! On the behalf of London and I, thank you!!!

So, for the record, Animal Hospital of Pitt County is under new ownership and management as of October 26th, 2012. The hospital is being renovated to bring it up to the standards required by the NC Veterinary Medical Board. The hospital was in danger of being shut down by the NCVMB if a buyer had not been found this past summer. I know many clients are concerned about change, and miss Dr. House. I hope you will visit the hospital to see the improvements and renovations that will make the hospital better able to serve the needs of clients and pets. While there have been some changes in personnel, many of the same employees are still there to help you. Dr. Heidi Leder will be helping with the transition. She has worked with our group for 5 years and is an excellent vet, having grown up on a farm in Wisconsin. Please come by and visit. We hope renovations will be finished by January 2013.

So, Tabitha, what did you get for $125? As a breeder who sees "cherry eyes" all the time, it is important to get all the information about what you should and shouldnt do. It should not be "cut off" or "removed", as this may lead to problems down the road with dry eye syndrome. The gland should have been sutured down, which is way more complicated and expensive to do. I am guessing you got the treatment they used to do 10-15 years ago....just whack it off and hope for the best. Good luck. Guess you get what you paid for. I guess I have had enough dogs with this through the years I just know about it, but your vet should also know this if a breeder does. It is pretty common knowledge now.

My Chinese Crested, Trixie, was diagnosed with lung cancer in July 2013. With the invaluable help of the veternarians and staff at Animal Hospital of Pitt County, she was given the best treatment possible and I was given the best advice possible on making her last days better. The vets took time for me when I would stop by with questions and spent lots of time with me. They truly cared about both Trixie and myself. She was able to live another 4 weeks before I had to put her down. I cannot express how much the care, professionalism and compassion everyone had for both Trixie and I. I have three other dogs and a cat and they will be treated at this wonderful facility.

Dr. House has another doctor working with him now! AND he has new staff who are excellent and give good customer service. This is an improvement that I have truly enjoyed. Unfortuantely in the past, ONE employee (who worked the front desk) really didnt help his practice. That has all changed! and FYI...Dr. House will NOT knock your head off with rediculous fees. He has been practicing in Pitt County for over 40 years. If you want to know something, ASK him.....he will tell you how to best take care of your pet and the most economical way you can do it, too. So keep up the good work. --Helen J.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS TO THESE MISERABLE PEOPLE!!! During the last grooming, they gave one of our dogs shots he did not need - ok, people make mistakes. Today, they didnt call us to pick up the dogs until minutes before closing. We told them we were coming right away and might get there a few minutes after closing - they said ok. When we got there, the four very selfish employees that were still there, refused to release the dogs to us because it was after 6pm - so our dogs are imprisoned there for the night. We will be there when they open tomorrow and will NEVER take our pets there again!!

I took a 4 week old kitten in for a check up and Dr. Horton gave it so much worm medication it aspirated and began throwing up. Then she gave it something for that issue along with a big syringe of fluids. A couple of hours later the kitten was dead at their office being seen by another vet that said the kitten aspirated most likely and died from it. They did refund the money for the morning visit that killed the kitten and gave me a box to bury him in. They will never have my business again. It was just a fricking well visit for a baby cat.

I love Animal House! I have moved the care of my three kitties, Callie, Emma and Jameson, there. The front desk staff are NICE (never rude like the place I used to go to), the techs are so kind and gentle, and Dr. Girard even won over my shy girl, Callie. The prices are reasonable and they offer options instead of trying to "guilt" you into services that may not be needed. I was recommended to this place some co-workers at VMC and I have not been disappointed.

Dr. April Wyatt has been our vet for years. She is kind, caring and compassionate beyond expectations. I cannot say enough great things about her and the care she has provided our cats over the years while at 10th Street and this location. Her focus is on the well being and healing of the family member not the money. So anyone who has anything negative to say about this place, needs to give it a second chance. I highly recommend Dr. Wyatt.
