Perhaps, like me, you are here reading the positive reviews of this clinic while looking for a new vet for your beloved pet. I read the positive reviews and decided to choose this clinic. On Tuesday, 6/21, I brought in my 8 year old Shih Tzu Bailey for a wellness appointment. I emailed her medical history to this clinic before bringing her in. In the waiting area, I was told that Bailey needed a rabies shot and a "booster." When I asked which booster, I was told a booster for bordatella, distempter, and parvo. These three shots are the only ones that were disclosed as being in the booster that she would be administered. Bailey experienced a severe anaphylactic reaction to the shots that evening. Merck, the manufacturer of the vaccine, agreed the reaction was due to the shot when I called to report the reaction. Bailey had to be taken to an emergency clinic twice that evening. Upon review of the invoice from Arapaho, I discovered Bailey had been administered DA2PPL, a booster with five vaccinations, meaning she was administered full dosage of six vaccinations (inclusive of the rabies shot) in one day, two of which were not disclosed to me. I called Arapaho to report the reaction immediately at 8am the preceding morning. I spoke with a Dr. Perkins (who is not the vet that saw Bailey, but I believe him to be the owner). Apart from the non-disclosure regarding the vaccinations given to my dog, here is where my real concern begins with this clinic. At no point during our conversation, did Dr. Perkins ever concern himnself with how Bailey was doing the next day, after I had just reported her two visits to an emergency clinic. Not one inquiry of how she was doing the next day. One week later and I have not heard a single peep from anyone at this clinic. Not a single call to check in. Not even an email to see how she is doing (and they have my email since I emailed Baileys complete medical history before her first visit). To the clinic, in case you were wondering (which clearly you were not), she is still not doing well. On our phone call, Dr. Perkins assured me he would report the reaction to the manufacturer. I requested the serial number of the DA2PPL vaccination that Bailey was given and was provided one serial number. When I called Merck at 4:40 Est. time, 3:30 Central time, I was advised that no one from Arapaho Road Animal Clinic had reported the vaccination. Upon self-reporting, I also learned that I was only given one serial number from the vaccination. Merck advised me that it would call the clinic. I demanded a call back from Merck after Merck spoke directly to the clinic because I wanted to know the contents of the conversation. I was advised that the vet was unaware the vaccination came with two serial numbers and that this is why I was only provided with one serial number, which was not a big deal to me. I understand that reactions can occur. I understand that this vet did not manufacture this vaccine. I am more concerned about the complete lack of care about how Bailey was doing after the clinic was fully aware of her adverse reaction. Additionally, whomever weighed Bailey at this clinic had her listed at 6.8lbs. At the emergency clinic, she weighed 9.7 or 9.9 lbs, I cannot recall exactly. She has always fluctuated between 9 and 10 lbs. Thank god she was not prescribed a weight specific dosage of anything at this clinic because it would have been 3 full pounds off. Lastly, do your research before vaccinating your dog. I have spoken with veterinarians in the past week that have stated there was no need to inoculate an 8 year old indoor lap dog with six vaccinations in one day. Recent guidelines recommend no more than one vaccine per visit, as studies have shown an increased correlation between the number of shots given and the instances of reaction. Get the serial number, which is specific to the batch, of the shot your pet is given. If your vet has a reaction, report it to both the manufacturer and the USDA.

This is BY FAR the BEST Vet Clinic in Texas. They care about you and your pet and your family and your extended family. They dont book you for a bunch of unnecessary shots. They will send you a reminder a few weeks in advance of your pets annual rabies vaccine and any milestone shots necessary. If you dont board, you dont need Bordatella, so they wont give it to you unless you want/need it. We had two dogs, one from a puppy (mutt) and one 5 year old (Australian Shepherd) we got when our puppy turned 4. They were okay together, but the 5 year old was abused when we got her from the pound and we found out 2 years later that she didnt like her sister. One day, Im still in pjs and very pregnant with our 1st, I look outside at the dogs, and my mutt shakes her head and blood splatters all over the glass patio door. OMG. I rushed my mutt to the Arapaho Animal Clinic a block away and they took her immediately into surgery where they very skillfully sewed her ear back together. They were more worried for me than my dog because I came in barefoot, in pjs, tears streaming down my face, covered in blood and super pregnant. They brought me water and a towel and hugged me and gave me resources on specific Australian Shepherd foster homes, since she could no longer be near my mutt. It could have been so much worse. I am so grateful for AAC for helping me and my family through the surgery and rehoming our Aussie. She just needed a single dog home, and she got it. We LOVE this clinic and would recommend them for your pets medical needs.

I have had my little loves Bambi and Skeeter visit ARAC for a year. They have been treated well and the Drs. are amazing. Dr May and Dr Sperry are honest and above board. I was a client of another vet clinic for over 10 years and never knew what we were missing until we found this clinic. I moved across town and was uptight about how and where to find a good clinic. I was fishing online and found this clinic. Since it is privately owned and operated for many years it seemed like a good place to begin. Our first visit there the staff treated everyone with kindness and respect. My dogs are elderly and they are so much a part of my life I have to have a good Dr. to keep them comfortable and healthy. Their prices are comparable to other neighborhood clinics and reasonable. They truly care for their clients and they dont rough up your pet when examining them. They are not pretentious and will not rob you blind like some other vets do when they are thinking about paying for their new car or house note if you know what I mean~~ I have been through hell and back with other dr.s and specialists because of my very sick Chihuahau. Its always too late when you find youve been ripped off and of course you cant get a refund from a bad vet. ARAC will treat you and your loved ones very well. You can expect a great place for your pets

I have never been disappointed with Arapaho Road Animal Clinic! After several bad experiences with other vets where their priorities were clearly on making money and not helping animals, this location was a breath of fresh air. Both of my two dogs are well handled every time, and they are open on Saturdays for a quick appointment if it is needed. My American Eskimo is especially good with the staff here. He has a bit of an anxious personality and doesnt do too well with people, leading him to be denied from some boarding locations due to aggression. The staff at Arapaho Road took him into a back room without me and came out carrying him! The vet at my previous clinic told me he was too aggressive to care for. I love this location and will be coming back for all appointments in the future.
