Terrible visit. The entire appointment took 2 hrs to complete. 2 hrs for a simple eye exam that told me absolutely nothing. I had come in because I was experiencing eye pain and reoccurring headaches. The doctor gave me a routine eye exam and told me that my prescription needed to be slightly tweaked (I found out through a different doctor that my issues were the cause of migraines). I was not asked if I had any questions or other concerns. I was asked if I want contacts, several times. No, I dont. I understand this is where you make your money at but if you want to make me comfortable enough to return, then please make sure I feel justified for having come in for a visit in the first place. The doctor did nothing to reassure my concerns for constant headaches and vision problems. If you had taken time to investigate you wouldve helped me come to the conclusion that I have migraines, which I later had diagnosed by a different doctor. During my 2 hr appointment, I heard several office women outside walking around, just laughing and cutting up. I opened the door to see where my doctor was (because I had been waiting for him off and on) and no one asked if I needed help or if everything was okay. They just kept walking by. If a door that is usually closed becomes open and someone sticks their head out, they are probably seeking assistance. But instead, you passed me by. Passing by is exactly what I plan to do to this office the next time I need an eye exam.

So disappointed for multiple reasons. First off after I filled out paper work I waited 45 minutes before being called back to see the Doctor. Then the Doctor comes in and examines my eye for a possible eye infection says its not an infection and wants to give me a prescription to help the irritated, runny, very red eye. I am pregnant so asked what the classification of the eye drops were (A, B, or C...these tell you how safe it is for the baby so you dont cause birth defects). HE HAD NO IDEA! He tried to find it but couldnt and said that he was sure it would be fine anyways and to just take the eye drops since my eye probably wouldnt clear up without it (remember there wasnt an infection so he doesnt really know whats wrong. He did look under my eye lid and everything to make sure nothing was in it). And you never take a chance on your unborn child and medication! I chose not to get the eye drops and to wait it out a while longer without contacts. Later that night my eye was killing me and when I looked in the mirror I saw what looked like an eye lash. Well instead it was piece of hair 2 INCHES long that I pulled out! So he clearly didnt look that closely during the examination. Within a few minutes my eye was totally fine and cleared up. Biggest waste of time and money. Never going back. Clearly didnt look close enough, didnt know pregnancy safety, and wasnt good with scheduling patients since I waited 45 minutes.

I recently moved to Utah and was looking for a new eye Dr. I chose UVEC because on the website in the overview it specifically says, "We treat patients in eye care specialties including routine eye exams, cataract surgery, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic care, adult strabismus... For a routine eye exam it took 2 hours. I spent a lot of time by myself in the exam room or rushed out to wait in a waiting area while my eyes dilated so they could use the room I was in for another patient. I also had to take the tests on the machines TWICE because they were not organized and lost my first results. I will say the Dr. was nice but he never asked me if I had any questions and seemed to be in a hurry to leave the room after he did the exam. I did have questions about strabismus(which I know I have) and he did not answer them and sent someone to get me a paper with a referral to another Dr. I also was not asked if I wanted glasses(which I did). When I went to the front desk and asked about glasses there, they told me to go to the other side of the room and talk to someone over there. I waited and no one acknowledged me so I left. I was completely mad and upset when I left. Will not be returning nor will I ever refer anyone.

I went to the UVH ER late one Saturday night because I was seeing symptoms associated with retinal detachment-- a serious problem. Dr. Boyles, the ER physician that saw me, called the Eye Centers Dr. Nelson at four in the freakin morning, but Dr. Nelson very kindly asked a couple of questions, then advised me to come by the Eye Center first thing Monday morning. When I showed up Monday morning, with no appointment of course, and told the receptionist what was up, she got me into see Dr. Edmunds in less than a half hour. Dr. Edmunds, and everyone I dealt with there, was very careful to ensure that my situation was accurately characterized, and after their painstaking exam determined that it wasnt a retinal detachment, but a vitreous detachment. (Google that if youre over 50, you may be next!). Since a vitreous detachment can lead to problems with the retina, Dr. Edmunds referred me to the retina specialists in the same building for a more thorough look at my retina, and scheduled a follow-up visit. The prospect of losing your eyesight, even in just one eye, can be very worrisome. It was very apparent to me that the staff at the Eye Center take their patients vision very seriously, and care about their patients.

The Doctors at Utah Valley Eye Center are kind, caring and the epitome of professionalism. They have cared for my familys vision for more than forty years. I wouldnt go anywhere else for my eye care. They have provided me with contact lenses and perfect prescription glasses. Ill admit that when Dr. Cook retired I wondered how well they would continue to carry the torch. Dr. Cook was a close family friend. He graduated from the same high school as my wife. He also took careful care of me after her death. Im happy to say that his successors are carrying the torch with olympic-winning excellence. On my last visit Dr. Michael J. Lloyd thoroughly tested my eyes to ascertain their current health. He carefully explained why he was doing each procedure and concluded that it was unnecessary to issue a new prescription for me because he sincerely felt I did not need one.. At the age of 68, with the prospect of cataract surgery somewhere in my future, Im so glad I can count on Dr. Lloyd and the Eye Center staff to give me the best possible vision for years to come..

Arrogant and overpriced. The woman helping my wife contradicted everything I said and pushed the most expensive frame in our collection which was completely unflattering to her skin tone and the shape of her face. My wife aged 20 years when she put it on as the silver-pink made her ivory white skin take on the color one usually only sees at the morgue while the it highlighted her grays. I spent many years in fashion & sales with exceptional color sense. Having worked in fashion retail I was embarrassed by the blatant hustle. After manipulating my wife masterfully she turns and says, "Well, I could defer to you!" Its the kind of service where you thank them for taking your money. I am the only person who sees my wife in glasses, but I guess the commissions are pretty liberal. I hope I can change my wifes mind before $540 is wasted. What a con!
