(*Note that this is my opinion of all the facts I have gather throughout this long process. Just stating this since Universal Health and Wellness Center have politely passed a message that they could sue for slander via my own Lawyer also I will update if any changes that need to be made) I broke my foot in June of 2015. After the break was fully healed I decided to go to physical therapy mostly due to my calf muscle was hurting periodically. I choose this place because I found this location as being in-network for my insurance (Anthem) and the good reviews it has on google. I called to make an appointment and verified that they accepted Anthem. At the end of each therapy sessions they assigned me their chiropractor. Thinking about it now I have no idea why they gave me a chiropractor. My issues where muscle related and not of the bone. Anyways, there was an issue with my insurance because of the way it was file. The claims were going in as out-of-network because the chiropractor was not considered in-network. Only the main doctor was considered in-network for my Anthem plan. I had no idea this was the issue until recently. I was unaware of the money I owed to this place due to the fact I had filed a lawsuit to recoup some money for my injury against the condo association where I live. So all the medical bills were going to my lawyer. I only found this out due to the settlement details and saw money was being paid to universal health and wellness center. After calling them and doing more research they pretty much gave up trying to file the claim once they realized I had a lawyer and was going to receive money from a settlement. Also once they realized the claims were being out-of-network they started to charge more trying to make my deductible so they can get some money from Anthem. The funnier part is that when I called and talk to the doctor and administrative/billing person both of them advised me they were trying to help me and even offered to cut the amount in half due to the settlement. When calculating the amount they didn’t cut anything they just charged more so that the amount they received is the amount they would have got from my insurance if it was claimed as in network. I am putting this review because I want to make sure others are aware that these people do not care about you no matter what they say. They only care about getting paid. Don’t get me wrong they provided good service because they know it will affect their business but they don’t ultimately care about you. Please DO NOT go to this place. If you decide to go here even after reading this make sure you get the main doctor if you have Anthem PPO. Make sure the cost they will be charging you. I would also wait after the first visit is submitted to claims to go through before going to any future sessions. Ultimately I advised you NOT TO GO HERE. They are two faced people who only care about getting paid. I really hope this helps others not have to go through the same thing I did.

When I looked for a treatment place near home, that was also listed under my insurance, Dr. Aguilar and the folks at Universal Health and Wellness in Manassas popped up. I was immediately impressed with their website and the testimonials found there. I AM EXTREMELY GRATEFUL THAT THEY ARE THE ONES I DECIDED TO SEE!! I had suffered for a few years with pain in my shoulders, and especially the left shoulder after having had rotator cuff surgery in 2012 on my right. The left arm and shoulder had to take over and do everything for the right for a long time and the muscles became weak and in constant painful spasms due to long term overuse and stress. My orthopaedic doctor recommend dry needling to me, as his other treatments were not doing much to help me. As I had already had a full round of p/t with another clinic last fall, I was skeptical about the benefits of the dry needling, but I figured I’d give it a try as the alternative was living in more pain. There are several factors that make this p/t clinic stand out: 1. Dr. Aguilar spends a lot of time with you when you first meet him. He tells you about the practice and his philosophy of helpful healing. He always takes time to answer questions and gives you good information to help you decide on your course of action for further treatment. HE IS AVAILABLE!!!! 2. Their protocol is to heal you first, i.e. get the inflammation down so that your body can be more receptive to weights and other forms of p/t that most other clinics have you do right away. I cannot tell you how important that one factor is. (Remember, I’ve tried other clinics and had other p/t before, so I thought I knew the routine.) They give you the means to stretch and work you up VERY SLOWLY to a place where you can begin to do more. This alone surprised me as much as anything. 3. The people in the practice are low key but helpful and friendly. They always seem happy to see you and are fun and nice to be around. It’s a real family atmosphere and you don’t feel like just a number there. They play a mix of music that’s upbeat and relaxing at the same time so it’s not dead air and dull while you’re there. 4. Dr. A does the dry needling himself and his technique is fantastic! It works!! I think that a lot of people are skeptical or if they’ve tried it before and didn’t get good results, they think it doesn’t work. My answer to that is that they’ve not had the right “technician” doing the work. 5. I like the philosophy of doing the stretches and exercises first, then getting the electric current on the specific areas of need, then dry needling one day and then the next time you go in it’s massage instead. When you leave there you feel more relaxed or ready to rest. I cannot say enough good things about UH&W and I’m a fan for life.

The best physical therapy and chiropractic office by far! Ive suffered from back and neck pain due to undiagnosed (until recently) Scoliosis. After moving around Northern Virginia and in turn moving between multiple physical therapists and chiropractors for years, Universal Health & Wellness Center is hands down the best in their field. Dr. Aguilar, Dr. Randall, and the rest of the team are not only extremely talented physicians and therapists who have extensive knowledge of their fields and know exactly how to help, but they also take the time to explain what theyre doing, communicate their plan, and address any questions and concerns that you may have as a patient. Many times as a physical therapy patient you end up at the office multiple times a week, but patients at Universal Health & Wellness Center look forward to their time there because it really is like having a second (or third or fourth...) family. To further this point, Ill quickly introduce you to the family, the team: Dr. Aguilar is the owner and the head honcho, if you will, but youd never know it from his demeanor and the time he takes with each patient. He is incredibly sweet all while being the incredible doctor he is; hes also started dry needling at the office this year and I highly recommend it - not many doctors in the area offer this service and he does it free of any extra charge. Dr. Randall is an amazing chiropractor who is so helpful, gifted at her trade, and who will always take the time to make sure youre feeling better or to figure out whats causing your issues and how to fix them forever as opposed to the quick fixes youll sometimes run across. Andi is an amazing physical therapist who is not only extremely skilled, but who is so kind and bright that shell make you feel better just by talking to you. John is an awesome physical therapist who despite attending school, working two jobs, and obviously being very busy, he always takes time to talk to the patients, work with them one on one, and ensure that each person individually is getting the best treatment possible. Veronica is a wonderful massage therapist who makes sure that each patient has the best therapy experience possible and whose sweet nature is calming and always positive. Cindy works mostly on administrative stuff, but also is incredibly gifted in massage therapy and she does it all while staying positive and being fun. Paula works on the administrative and billing side of the business, but always makes sure to greet all of the patients and remembers names. I cant describe to you how amazing this practice is and I highly recommend coming in if you or someone you love is in need of physical therapy or chiropractic therapy.
