This will be long but you will want to read this if your pet goes in for anything other than a routine check up...at the end of February our dog was diagnosed with arthritis, we felt something more was going on so we wanted to get xrays done to either confirm that or eliminate that as the issue. Thats how we ended up at hanover animal clinic, my boyfriend was told a price (which apparently they dont quote and found out much later and is an entire other issue). We went there the first time in mid March and we specifically asked to get xrays done the first time which did not happen. They also did not do a thorough exam because our dog was "too fussy" (he was a pug) ). The first visit he was quickly diagnosed with a possible spinal injury only based off his behavior to being touched and my boyfriend telling then that he was flailing around a lot during his last nail trim. They suggested MRI several times but we felt that they hadnt explored or offered any other suggestions. We returned on 3/21 for an actual xray, and we got those done. That appointment was not conducted by the dr that we had specifically requested and found out afterwards. They did spend a lot of time talking with us but would not answer all the questions clearly, like WHAT blood tests were (so that I could tell other vets what had been done), they would just say they came back "good". There were other questions that also got beaten around the bush. They said they would look into a possible infection that the final vet said it appeared that they never actually followed through with according to his notes. They also never watched any of the videos I had taken of our dogs behavior at home. We were both so frustrated and scared that this place made it 100 times worse. We knew something was very wrong and we felt they were just trying to tell us what we wanted to hear and get us out of there. When we checked out of our 2nd visit we were shocked at the price, as it was not what we thought it would be. We talked to the manager and she comped some of the bill but basically told us that without knowing who it was we spoken to 3 weeks prior there wasnt anything to do. My boyfriend was definitely upset but I dont think he was out of line especially considering everything we experienced. We left very upset and in tears. We had to go back after leaving because we had left a notebook, the manager met us in the parking lot with our dogs notes and told us "good luck wherever you decide to go" and apologized. At the time I didnt realize how passive agressive thay was since we never mentioned not returning at that point. Anyway, our dog died of a brain tumor less than 10 days of his last visit there. Nothing could have been done to help him but I think if they had really put their heart into it they might have been able to see that it was not injury. If you have any questions about my experience feel free to message me. Ive considered contacting the BBB about this. I also sent the clinic an email expressing my frustration and they never even reached out.

have been taking my dog(s) to Dr. Billiter at Hanover Animal Hospital for over 10 years. Each visit I have felt the staff was professional, polite, and kind. Dr. Billiter is prompt in keeping his appointments unless there is an emergency in which case I have always been advised accordingly. Dr. Billiter is extremely knowledgeable and has been able to diagnosis of my dogs symptoms and explain them to me in laymans terms. Even when the diagnose was not good he was forthright ,caring and sensitive in both dealing with my dog and me. He does not consider his financial gain in offering diagnosis and treatment options. I highly recommend Dr. Billiter and Hanover Animal Hospital to anyone looking for excellent care for their pet! Gail B

I can not say enough great things about Dr. Billeter. Although I have farm animals and am not a dog/cat patient I have had the privilege of working with him as he has generously donated his clinic space for spay neuter clinics for pot belly pigs. He has gone out of his way to accommodate sick animals and works with the Hanover shelter helping injured pets so that they can find loving homes. He is more than a veterinarian, he is a true animal advocate and his heart is in work. I would feel total confidence in leaving my beloved pet in his hands.

I brought my cat in for her annual rabies vaccine. Positive: I did not have to schedule an office visit in order for the vaccine to be administered and the cost was only $22 for a 3-year. Negative: Maybe it was a bad day, but the office staff was not as friendly as I would have expected. I spoke to two different women who seemed more annoyed that I was calling than anything. I may or may not bring my cat back for her annual check-up. I would hope the vets have a more positive attitude than their office staff.

We have a Mastiff and the Drs at Hanover Animal hospital have been caring for him and giving us sound advice so that we can ensure he lives a long healthy life. Our Mastiff loves going to the vet. Who loves going to the Dr? Well he does. The animal hospital also boards animals and this is another reason why we love them so much because they know our pet and they take extra good care of him when we leave town and have to board him. Great facility, knowledgeable staff and friendly.

Ive been taking my 5 year old pup Toby to Dr. Tyson since we moved to Mechanicsville when Toby was 6 mons old. Everyone at HAH is wonderful - super friendly and helpful, work with my schedule, never suggest any product/test/etc that is unnecessary, prices are reasonable... couldnt ask for better care for my best furry friend.

All vets and techs are wonderful - competent and compassionate. Drs Billeter, Tyson, and Bartells have all attended to our cats. We have had some challenging issues with both cats and Hanover has always been great getting us in when necessary. The new automated appointment system is also quite handy. Highly recommend.

These folks have provided responsive and caring service to our pets over many years. From helping us with a pup with a habit of crewing up sticks and getting them caught in his mouth, to helping shepherd our cats through the latter years of very long lives, we have always been pleased with their service.

They do great work at Hanover Animal Hospital. They have taken care of my 13 dog since he was a puppy and always show compassion and knowledge. I always feel like they listen to what I am saying. They are also very reasonable with charges and dont over-test unless its truly necessary.
